...I feel like that really shouldn't have worked.
Not in a "wow that's so ballsy" or "way to go" way or whatever, I mean that really shouldn't have worked and is legitimately creepy.

Like normally I give Paul a pass on some awkward missing the point stuff, but this is super serious actually shouldn't do that sort of territory.
Eugh.

I felt the same way too and then remembered that Jade and Paragon Paul separated on very good terms. I had been thinking about the hostility between Jade and Renegade Paul.

Ah...Jade.....Boo...Jade. The most boring choice and character. Knew it was coming, still so dull.

And female. :eyeroll:

Also, kinda odd approach. Granted Jade was really forward the last time they "Discussed" things, so maybe they just have a better relationship then I feel we've seen. Then of course there is the tried and true confirmation....she didn't get mad, so he must not have screwed up.

Cheshire 1 is also not related to Huntress/Tigress or Sportsmaster. She's her own special brand of crazy for its own sake, no family history of supervillainy required. For those who aren't familiar, she nuked the capital of Qurac, in this context a country on the Arabian Peninsula's side of the Persian Gulf. A lot of people died, and she was tried for genocide thereafter.

That was also a turning point where she went Full Crazy. She's nuttier than squirrel poo. Jade 16, meanwhile, is an elite mercenary. No more, no less.

If it weren't for a power ring he would not be able to do it so...
Power rings make it easier to perform stalker behaviour like figuring out their personal schedule to intrude on them in a private setting but it is still stalker behaviour. It is like breaking into your date's house and making dinner without their awareness or consent to surprise them when they get home. It is actually worse because of the nudity, impersonation and disparity in power.

Speaking as someone who's a little 'non-standard' when it comes to threat assessment, I would be very open to this type of greeting; especially as I would feel the normal pride that comes with spoiling the deception.

It's a little creepy - but she's a very creepily-raised assassin-girl.

What does that have to do with Paul's behaviour?
I was more commenting on the fact that she was not really in a lower power situation at that exact moment.

A more thought out response here:

It is like breaking into your date's house and making dinner without their awareness or consent to surprise them when they get home.

I mean I would be impressed... Freaked out a bit but definitely impressed.

As long as they can handle rejection well, sounds like a impressive person to go through all that trouble.

Then again the probability of that...

What does that have to do with Paul's behaviour?

Context-specific challenges to a mate / friend are acceptable - such as towel snaps in a locker room amongst friends, or hidden "I could have killed you with those practice knives we have" sneak attacks amongst fellow practitioners.

Actually, this is a sign that he respects her - he's not in disbelief that she figured him out; he just didn't expect it from his hand callus difference. Her reaction and his challenge display a respect that is...shall we say, not civilian?

EDIT: I refer you to Musashi's much-quoted "Five Rings" - attacks can come anywhere, at any time (one that happened to him was in a bathhouse). If one believes otherwise of defense and offense, one would be a fool. He knows she isn't.

No, the QQ thing is an alternate timeline. If I ever finish the first one, then the second one will be about the SI becoming involved with Selina.
If you've got the interest it would be very entertaining to see a series of What Ifs of Paul accepting the interest of the various females that have attempted to pursue him in one fashion or another.

I would particularly be looking forward to the timeline where the Forever People come to take back their technology and find the Sphere being followed around by several tinier Orange Orbs...:V

Uhhh I'm really not virtue signalling. It's creepy.

Like a non-creepy version of a ninja greeting would be chucking a knife at her face to say hi. That would be fine. Fun, even. Kind of cute, depending.
Sneaking in and initiating a massage by using superpowers to mimic her usual masseuse is creepy.

"locked"

That should be "different than" for an American-raised woman; I think "different to" is more of a Britishism.
Depends on who trained her in tactile recognition - that's a very specific field. Still, you're probably spot on considering the author.

It would be much more appealing to the normal, happy-go-lucky ninja stereotype, yes.

...I'm sorry, to what now? Is this equivalent to white-knighting, or...?

Some people see the world in the colors they were taught are right for the lines they were told to see. It leads to people pointing out the "correct" colors and the "appropriate" lines.

For some reason, people associate morality with normality - it's much closer to mediocrity, and closer still to banality.

Apparently Jade doesn't mind Paul annihilating the Shadows, so long as he's up front about it.

And look, he's being so open and honest he even gave her blackmail material! Although it's not really secret in Vega anyway...

Stated, then continued to do so, and then do so, and everyone else is jumpjng in to say it as well, so as to leave nothing but such a concrete idea of where they stand, that not only is it VS, it seems like a lie.
