Now remember, there is a certain code of conduct here: You are contractually obligated to monologue at length at least once, preform at least one half-decent maniacal cackle/laugh, and a few "Just-as-Planned/That's-inconceivable"s, depending on how the plan goes. There's a code of conduct here, Paul, and if you don't follow it then the writers forget about you.
*looks at checklist*
He monologued to Klarion just a few updates back (and do press conferences and therapy sessions count?)
He's definitely laughed about getting access to new technology, but like Grayven with the Sword of the Fallen it's more of an elated giggling/chuckling.
Paul has been pretty good about not complaining about how anything is impossible - he tends to just steal... CONFISCATE an example for reverse-engineering.

And then it all goes to smoke in the wind! Its like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly: it digests itself and and then uses the materials to build something much cooler. Have fun with the black eyeliner, Paul!
Paul is going to stay away from Earth because he thinks it would be extremely awkward to be around everyone after the falling-out, isn't he?

Honestly... I think that it's all going to come back full-circle - it will be Alan vouching for Paul again.
Alan knows that Paul and Zatanna didn't accept Nabu stealing a body for his own sloth and greed just because Nabu is powerful and says he deserves it for his work to protect the world, and Alan is made of determination to see good done. Paul may be afraid of what happens when he does this, but... Alan, the ghost of Marrack past, Eris, Zatanna, John Chaostine... People agree with Paul. They want to help Paul with this, they think it's right and just. Paul has given freely to other people and they are ready to give freely back when people might get angry with his choices.

Alternatively: Paul has argued honestly for hope and improvement, offered technologies and served as a patron of science in both technology and magic. He's fought Klarion and Oceanus, Star Conquerors and the forces of Hell. He shared the secrets of their history with Mars, rescued lost children of Nature and Inspiration, made friends with gods and politicians and ghosts and children...
If the League tries to shun or condemn Paul, it may not be Paul who suffers a loss of face.

...what if Zatara doesnt react badly, but with happiness?
turns out Paul was right all along and he was an unwilling prisoner in his own body....

did you post this a few months ago or something?

Betting on uncertainty, myself. At least until he gets to hug his daughter.

Can't have been a few months ago, wasn't posting comments then. But I have definitely made my feelings on the upcoming fallout clear before, and I have made my feelings regarding Nabu very clear before.

Brut is engaged in a staring

Thank you, corrected.
Earlier than normal today Zoat. Normally you're an hour or so later.
British Summer Time started last weekend.
Hm... the next episode only has 4 chapters for July 7. So it seems like the actual conflict with Dr. Fate will be quick. Just wonder if the 10th is going to be still on Earth or not...
Yeah.
It turns out that the SI was worried over nothing and that Nabu was surprisingly agreeable once they started talking.
But how will Boris Johnson feel that the "lich" he agreed to let OL take down in public in London under his watch was a JL member? Think of how important his feelings of betrayal will be!
How would he ever find out?
I am surprised the ring isn't translating wolf.
He turned that off a while ago. It was mentioned in one of the early episodes that he found it annoying.
Would this trip up Wonder Woman's lie detection? He's actively changing his speech to avoid saying an outright lie in front of her.
No, because he isn't lying. That's all her innate ability detects. She might think it sounds odd, but come on. It's Orange Lantern. What's he going to do?

Hey Zoat, are we allowed to offer recommendations for Paul's new supervillain outfit? Because I'd like to recommend this:

Now you might ask; "Jamie, why are you suggesting that?" Well that's quite simple: chronologically speaking, the last comic I read where a glowie superhero turned evil was that one, and I think its only fair that Paul should have to wear the same thing. Except orange, obviously.

I think OL would object to wearing something so impractical and skin-bearing. He sure didn't like Wonder Woman's original costume, IIRC, and I can't see why he'd change views just because he'd be wearing a black leotard.

...Can guys wear leotard? I only know of them used in ballae, and that's a majority-female activity only my two sisters engage in.

Who is that?

Queen Hips eldest sister who was taken by aliens, and her daughters.

Diana's Aunt Astarte leads a band of wandering murderhobos in space.
All the key points I needed to know; plus, implicitly, Astarte is still around; in turn implying longevity/durability. Gracias!

I hope you choke on it, then you'll know how we all feel right now.
Oh, hang on. Is that one the "the dog dies at the end" medal, or are they different? I can't recall.

...Can guys wear leotard?
I think so, although I'm pretty sure guys' leotard are cut differently. I'm guessing/going by memory, mind.

Another reason he wants The Controllers to be in charge is because he doesn't want to spend all his time being an administrator/bureaucrat

Well then the Controllers of 16-A would have to be very different from the Controllers of New Earth or he's going to be severely disappointed there.

The Darkstars, the first person they put in charge turned out to be a would be supervillain who wants to rule the universe.

They fire him, and replace him with John Stewart.

They then disband the Darkstars when they are less than satisfied with his having his own agenda. Which was to protect the innocents of the universe, by the by.

So apparently having a Controller run the organization directly never ever occurred to them.

Work is for peons, apparently.

Reminds me that I need to double check the arrangements for sending an accurate account of what he is to every journalist on the planet.
Don't actually see any point in this. Being on the League has nothing to do with Nabu holding a host. Nor does he give any indication that he cares about public opinion. A letter to his friends and the rest of the league explaining why he attacked Nabu would make a lot more sense.
That said, Paul is obviously a long way from rational at present.

She has to know that's why paul dislikes him, she's not super cool with it either.
Unfortunately she doesn't. Nor does she know the extent of his objection. Paul has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure noone who isn't in on the conspiracy knows his opinion on the matter.

That is why this feels like a betrayal and will likely be treated as one by most of the League/Team. Paul decided to deal with this problem like an assassin, lying to friends and colleagues for months and literally organising a conspiracy to attack a League member.
Much as with Grayven, when you stop acting like a hero people stop treating you like one.

I'm hoping Paul opens things up with "Klarion's gone. Now release him." followed by proof.
Problem: In the process of getting rid of Klarion Paul created another Lord of Chaos. Specifically a LoC that Giovanni Zatara hates with every fiber of his being.

No, it's entirely rational. The SI of offended by the fact that the League offered Nabu a slot. He wants (among other things) Nabu out and outed. He hopes that as a result of Nabu's behaviour becoming common knowledge public and political pressure will be brought to bear on the League to give him the boot, maybe even to take action against him themselves.

Also, he's quite angry with the League. Keeping secrets because you don't want professional assassins going after your family is one thing. Covering up your misdeeds is quite another.
Much as with Grayven, when you stop acting like a hero people stop treating you like one.
Of course, that works both ways. As far as he's concerned, it's the League that stopped acting like heroes.

Hey, Mr Zoat, you know who'd make a great travelling companion for Paul when he goes into space, so he's not lonely and can talk to someone about things?

Melinoë.

It's not funny Gilliam!

It'd be a great way to solve the Nabu issue. Doomsday interrupt kills Nabu and Zatara before Paul gets the chance to spring his trap.

I don't know about your definition of 'great.' :p

I might have agreed with you, Science, but then I remembered Batman v. Superman, which forms a pretty solid counterargument to any amusement of any kind coming from Doomsday.

Thanks
