"Diana, I cooperated with him perfectly well when we fought Oceanus. I doubt that I'll ever like-" The bastard Lich. "-him, but.. it…" I shake my head. "Won't be a problem on professional occasions." After the 7th.

all 3 of these statements are true. He worked with him, he will never like him, and after he ambushes and murders him there will not be any further problems with him.

also, kind of weird that diana didn't bring up the body snatching thing. Like, seriously, the hell. She has to know that's why paul dislikes him, she's not super cool with it either.

"Anyone except Nabu vote against?"

"No." Hah! "Paul, I also wish to talk to you about your relationship with Lord Fate. Having two members of the League at loggerheads as the two of you are-" I have the ring take control of my facial expression. "-can only serve to disrupt our cohesion. When you join the League you will be working alongside him. I think that it may be worth your time learning to-."

Diana smiles, nodding. "I am glad."
This is the first time she or any other JL member has brought it up and it's to tell him to come to peace with him? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? Do they have no problems with him? I'm honestly wondering if there's mind control or something involved! (And well, I see why she feels betrayed later if this is her Point of View... but why is it her point of view?)

EDIT: Do they have information we don't? Did they find something out and not tell Zatanna? I am legit just giving up here. I can't reconcile this.

EDIT 2: Alternately, did it just never occur to them the bodysnatching was a problem? Zoat, I really hope you have a good explanation for this.

"I have faith. You will return from your adventures in space whole and healthy, and if your time on Earth is anything to go by you will have new technologies and allies to show for your time."

Diana smiles, looking out of the kitchen towards her son. "I also wanted to tell you that you are to be offered a place on the Justice League."

Dammit. This really hit me. Diana holds Paul in extremely high regard, firmly believing that he will not fail in what he tries to do, and the entire fucking League thinks he is worthy of joining them. Everything that he has done, the connections that he's fought for, the ideals he perpetuated, the competence and bravery he's always maintained has led up to this.

I will be crushed if all of it actually turns to ash after Judgement Day.

If they turn to ash because of his freeing someone from possession, I'm not sure I'd want them as friends then tbh :/

"I've nearly died several times on Earth. I'm going to have a whole galaxy of trouble spots to chose between."
Hey, that's not true! Guardian space also extends to the 2 Magellanic Clouds! He'll have 3 galaxies worth to choose from.
"I'm a little surprised. Most of your team mates would jump at the chance to join the League. It's surprising how much additional maturity a few years can bring."
Does she suspect that he is older than he says he is?
And that's the other reason to commit this to memory. Given what I'm planning to do… I can't be sure that I'll ever get invited back.
Aww. That's actually rather sad.
Kon cut you in half?
There's a picture of him on the cake.

Man, this update hits the feels in all kinds of ways and not in the traditional sense.

It's more like having the perspective of a traitor before he turns on those that consider him a close ally/friend. Not as extreme in this case but pretty close since OL is being given so much trust by so many others that once his plan falls through it will certainly cause some bridges to be burnt.

Sorta like how League members felt when they found out Batman had plans to take down all of them should they go evil or something.

Also that remark about Wolf being unable to find Teekl is just another hit in the gut.
If they turn to ash because of his freeing someone from possession, I'm not sure I'd want them as friends then tbh :/
Think it's more a matter of trust and the feeling of OL being manipulative behind the scenes that will cause some tension.

Even if most members of the League are happy with the result the methods can still be seen in a poor view.

you made in clear that you have little time for faith.

"Have you see Teekl lately?"

I think that a big thing with the league's view on Fate is that they're assuming he's a better person than he is. They probably assume- or Fate lied about it- that Fate and Zatarra came to some kind of arrangement. Or they're just thinking about them as different people- sort of a 'Zatarra died and now Fate is here, it's sad but we moved on'

They don't have the existential horror mindset that makes what's actually happened something that *matters* to them, and they shrug off any questions about that with 'well Zatarra made the choice willingly, we have to respect his decision'

I think that Nick Fury has the most appropriate counterpoint to that view, and I imagine Paul is probably in a similar position.

Earlier than normal today Zoat. Normally you're an hour or so later.

Finally, they sup!

Hm... the next episode only has 4 chapters for July 7. So it seems like the actual conflict with Dr. Fate will be quick. Just wonder if the 10th is going to be still on Earth or not...

Does she suspect that he is older than he says he is?
The original lie of being 17 was tangled in with truths and half-truths. She doesn't think he's in his thirties, merely that he may be 16-21ish.
"Exactly how old do you think I am?"

What do I do what do I do?

"Mid teens. I thought it best to put you in the same class as Kon and M'gann. I've no doubt that you can cope with the work load." She looks at me in an interrogative manner. "Actually, I hadn't realised until just now that I don't know exactly how old you are."

What do I do what do I do?

!Lie!

"Seventeen. I finished my GCSEs last year, and I have absolutely no desire to go back to secondary school."

Should I feel bad about that? I don't. I can't leave here, this is my home, but there's no way I'm going to school if I can possibly avoid it.

Daylight Savings Time occurred on Sunday for the United Kingdom, two weeks after it occurs in North America.

Pfft. If they complain about that, they're gigantic hypocrites.

He wouldn't have to be secretive if they had just told him what their plan was. This is just reciprocity, really.
Like said not all will feel this way (Batman will likely completely understand right off the bat since it's totally something he would do) but everyone has different beliefs and thoughts processes on how to handle things in general so they will naturally be some tension at the very least.

Diana will likely be happy at the result but at the same time be slightly betrayed that someone she considers a ward did not believe he could trust her on this even if logically he couldn't. Same thing with Guy since he see's OL as a good friend.

Sorta like the situation with Aquaman's other son how OL views a certain thing might not be viewed the same way.

All we can hope for is that in the long term mostly everyone understands the reasoning is in the end happy with the result so OL being away from earth will allow heads to mostly cool.

I agree, but why would he be on the need to know list? Zatanna should have been told if there was a plan though.

Best explanation is that I can think of is that Fate really wasn't lying when he said Zatara wanted him in the League and Diana picked up on the truth of that statement. With Fate being useful and a constant barrage of other problem it just sort of slipped away from them.
