Oh man, the gauntlet has been thrown down. A lot of plans have been advanced, and certainly some schedules have been moved up. SHADE might jsut be fucked. If you try to kidnap the President, you best not fail.

Edit: ah, ninjaed

I can only imagine how Horne and the Joint Chiefs are going to react when Grayven tells them about the UK government being suborned by Hell and taking part in this conspiracy. I don't think it will be pretty.

Edit: Why am I getting funny ratings? Is it the understatement?

Oh, yeah. He doesn't know about SHADE's likely ties to British demon worshiping politicians. That's probably going to affect stuff behind the scenes.

they cooperated on one opp, against a target they both had on a hit list. The ties likely started and ended with "hey we both want this guy dead, wanna go halfsies on the needed assets?" I mean it's not like the renegade was super subtle about getting into a fight with a select part of the uk government. On top of that neither demon worshipers or hard men making hard choices tend to put much stock in loyalty.

May I ask

Wonder how many SHADE mooks shall turn themselves in?

probably most of them. standard procedure is that their plants all think it's just a paperwork thing, and I really doubt they felt the guys doing training needed to know SHADE was anything but an obscure inward facing federal agency. Some might panic and do something silly, but I'm willing to bet most turn themselves in and cooperate fully.

Why couldn't we have a President like this guy instead of that fucking oompah loompah?

Well, DC Earth has a responsible and intelligent President... and a whole mess of superpowered lunatics, demons, aliens, invaders from the future, and immortal cavemen who are all constantly trying to take over the world.

So in our world, our political parties are constantly demonizing eachother in an attempt to look like the lesser of two evils while Earth 16 actually has a ready supply of actual evils that both sides can demonize. Including actual demons. They can spend more time trying to make policies that stop supervillains and less time slinging mud at eachother.

Were and where in here should be flipped around.
Typos: "protection" "May" "things" "whose" "our"
Thank you, corrected.

Joke answer: because fiction has to make sense.
Serious answer: Horne had to narrowly dodge an assassination attempt to get worked up like this. Usually -as Mister Myer said- he's nothing like this outgoing. A lot of modern politicians like to sound off about things they'll never actually be able to do. Some would like to do those things. others use them as part of their bargaining position. Horne doesn't. He has this unfortunate habit of treating people like adults.

"mean" should be "means
I've forgotten the conventions on spelling for speaker vs hearer, but the US president is using "forwards" vs "forward" and "criminalised" vs "criminalized"
Thank you, corrected.
Also, wow, Horne just fucked over Knight. How well known was his idea, in the Renegade timeline?
It was like being savaged by a dead sheep.

Being savaged by a dead sheep is actually really scary.
America doesn't have that.

when I said any one I meant any one, why before the current guy we had a cheerleader with a cocaine issue as our president.....this didn't end well admitedly but we still did it.
Whaw. Obama was a crazy party animal at college, huh?
"You can't keep me here! I've got rights!"

The UK government has not been suborned by Hell. They just use Demon magic sometimes.
and he got elected? I'm sorry zoat but unless some shadowy mastermind was behind that my suspension of disbelief is just gone. :p
A couple of weeks before polling day a video was released of his opponent having sex with underage cheerleaders. That was mentioned when Grayven first met him.

Every federal agent acting under SHADE's authority is under arrest.
Technically, they're not under arrest until they're being taken into custody. If he cares about being precise, then he would say something like "...now has a warrant out for their arrest" or "I'm issuing an arrest warrant for every...".

Of course that's not quite as punchy, so if Horne is the type to let an inaccuracy slide for the sake of rhetoric, then it's fine.

which is why someone who is supported by the KKK and LITERAL Nazi's and has committed actual treason, is becoming president
It's not really fair to judge someone based on who likes them. I don't care what you actually THINK about Trump but that's a really bad way to evaluate people.

"What this administration will do is hunt down those criminals lurking in our government institutions. What this administration will do is bring forward laws that will allow law enforcement officials to use greater degrees of force in apprehending or if necessary killing super powered criminals. What this administration will do is create a new federal agency with a remit to study and where appropriate act against super powered threats to the citizens of this country. And in all these things this administration will be guided by evidence, not by rumour or fear-mongering."
In the United States creating a new Federal Agency requires an act of Congress called an "Enabling Act".

So Horne probably would have said something like "I will be petitioning Congress to support an act authorizing the creation of a new federal agency" instead of unilaterally claiming that it would happen so as to not make it feel like he was trying to force the thing through without Congress's input and support.

"As of right now, SHADE no longer exists. Every federal agent acting under SHADE's authority is under arrest. I will say to all those agents not involved in the conspiracy to replace me: hand yourselves in. You will be interviewed and then most likely released immediately. And to SHADE's senior employees, those who intentionally evaded congressional oversight for decades and just tried to kill their Commander-in-Chief… We're coming for you. And there isn't going to be any place where you can hide."
I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the US President actually has the authority to do something like that without first conducting a judicial review of the agency in question.
