Well yeah, but they're essentially the same character.
Everyone is trying to tell you that they are not the same. Why aren't you listening?

They absorb and reflect kinetic energy, they don't process air.
*Cough Ring Database*
Because Belt Space Suits/Environmental Suits are a trope that exist, and OL likes to be prepared. They would have already earned their keep visiting Atlantis.

"The Manhunters serve the Guardians."
I do not understand how this relates to what you are quoting.

Who know's Robin's identity? The entire team, or just the original group?
*Kosh voice* ...Yes...

*sigh* if, IF OL ISN'T being dense or intentionally playing up being depressed with luthor's apparent refusal, you can pretty much Sum up Luthor's Fatal flaw in three words: "he's a supervillan"
no matter how much he prides himself on his intelligence, dispite allegedly being one of the smartest begins in the galactic sector/history of the planet, he is psychologically incapable of using it in a constructive way, unless you count having a literally endless supply of self-serving justifications for why he doesn't as proper use of a 10th degree intellect ...

to slightly paraphrase Dr Temperance Brennan from Bones: "there is possessing intelligence, and the ability to actually APPLY/USE that intelligence"

*edit* you know, for someone who's allegedly taken somewhat of an emotional hammerblow, OL isnt showing much colour in his text... then again, is there a canonical in-verse colour that'd be associated with depression/crushed hope?

I realise that this isn't exactly going to be a popular response, but the exact nature of Lex's damage comes up in the Renegade timeline.

Sephtian used that armband thing to maintain water and pressure around his body when visiting the surface, so something like that would be ideal.
Probably; the only problem is that's he's so overworked. OL has said more than once that he needs more magical craftspeople he can call on, instead of dumping it all on Sephtian.

Hmm. On the one hand, in-depth look into interesting character. On the other hand, ponies. Quite the conundrum.
Lex Luthor: Turned supervillain after being traumatized by magic ponies.

Oh, good. So you're going to be answering that.

I really hope the thing that makes him so spiteful isn't that version of events where he was friends with Superman until that terrible day that Superman made him . . . bald.

The reason I asked who knew Robin's ID is because if Artemis is one of the ones who does, then I can see the two of them spending some time together over Spring Break. Which can only end with him telling her as many embarrassing stories about Wally as he can, because that's what you do when your best friend is dating someone new.

"'Lush Locks Lex', they called me. AND LOOK AT ME NOW!"

(source)

Superman: "In my defense, it looked like a Voltorb was eating his head. By the time I realized that it was his hair, I was too embarrassed to apologize."

Lex Luthor: "With my beautiful hair gone, people started taking me seriously. Before I knew it, I was stuck in some billion dollar a year desk job running a multinational economic empire and negotiating peace treaties with foreign nations. When all this time, all I wanted out of life was to be the smoothest criminal in all of Metropolis! To groove my way though the criminal underworld and blow away the competition with my superior dance moves!"

Mercy: "I wanted to be a dance machine."

Lex Luthor: "So, as you can see, Orange Lantern. I really have no great desire to keep heaping more administrative work on my own lap. I hate Superman. I hate him for what he represents and how he... destroyed my dream. All this money and business work... it doesn't bring me happiness, and I would gladly trade it all away for the chance to get revenge on the man who ruined my life!"

Paul: "... I need a friggin' drink."

'I know they're not the same, but barring the fact that they're totally different characters who happen to share a name, they're essentially the same right?'

Noooooooo.

Um, just give me the short version?
Basically Lex Luthor finds out that someone has messed with his head and his entire life has been influenced by it.
He, naturally, gets very pissed off and looks for the culprit in order to get revenge.
This:
"The Manhunters serve the Guardians."
is a massive spoiler concerning some stuff he finds out later on.
It is a very good story, well written. Lex gets through a sort of "redemption" only it is less he becomes a hero and more he tolerates working with the JL in order to murder the fuck of those whe DARED MESS WITH HIS MIND:rage::mad::rage::mad::rage::mad::rage::mad:

Edit: Also here is the fic and here is its trope page

Whatever hints luthor may or may not have been trying to give he was never going to abandon the light. He's described as revolving around anger but a better word is pride he's even worse about it than Vivienne. He HAS to be the centre of the universe, things have to happen in response to his whims. He doesn't mind saving the world but they better recognise who did it. Serving the dreams of another would never work. Among the light he is first among equals (in his own head at least) whereas with ol he'd be second fiddle.

"Good morning Wallace."
"So… Yeah. You..? Still on for tomorrow?"

"Psh, ye-ah. You really think my healing potions are something that can… You know, go all the way? I mean, they get a lot less effective if they're a couple of days old. They're not really something you can store."
Kid Flash is relevant again! Yay.
Disappointing that it took him so long to cotton on to the fact that his healing potions might be useful for other people.

So no secret meeting with Luthor. Meh, he made his choice.

A little odd that an enlightened individual decided the thing he most wants to do at the moment is mope. Although the company may be the bigger factor.

I realise that this isn't exactly going to be a popular response, but the exact nature of Lex's damage comes up in the Renegade timeline.
Soon? You have five in-story years planned out.

I think I'm watching one of those long running American situation comedies, the ones that aren't actually funny but use so much canned laughter they sometimes trick you into forgetting. The Earth 16 version of Two and a Half Men or Everyone Loves Raymond. Or whatever.

I think the Earth 16 producers of this show would find Paul's apathy worse than if he actually hated the show.

"No. I think… As a Sector Lantern, I should introduce myself to the Martian government. See if there's anything they want me to do for them. And I need to hear officially what they want to do about the whole 'Burning Martian' thing. And, it'll be my first time interacting with an alien civilisation in their own territory. Um, do you have any plans for spring break?"

Will Paul run into Martian Womanhunter, J'ohn J'ackson, in his natural habitat? I would find it amusing if things weren't rosy for him because he spent so much time on Earth he was kind of geared that way now and didn't relate as well to Martian women anymore.

What might be a good idea is if Paul manages to get some point of contact with the Martian government, and some kind of official diplomatic setup is established, he asks for J'ohn J'ackson to be made part of the embassy sent to Earth or something. J'ackson is basically harmless in the grand scheme of things.

EDIT: Does the League know Paul overtly made an offer to Luthor, specifically mentioning the Light? Luthor didn't give himself away, but I would be interested to see what Wonder Woman, Batman, and especially Superman would make of it. They know Paul, who they can recognize and legitimately can read people and help enable them, made an open offer to Luthor (Paul probably didn't tell them if he did tell them he spoke to Luthor, of covering up Luthor's crimes.) and Lex still refused. What would the League make of that? 'Some people just can't get with the program'? Or that the superhero/supervillian angle has become so factionalized that people cannot literally act in their own best interest?
