Transposition, or: Ship Happens [Worm/Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio | Arpeggio of Blue Steel]

Or Taylor could just take the brain to Amy and see if she can build Lisa her old body.

It's been said before but it bares repeating Taylor doesn't have our meta know-how so she only know amy as the most powerful healer not that she is a bio-mancer and that she can rebuild her body. So she can't ask because she doesn't Know about it

Depending on what exactly happens to Lisa, I can't see her wanting to give up her appearance. I'm not all that sure what @ensou has planned for Lisa, but failing her becoming another AI, she is likely to have a 'fixed' appearance and will likely want to look like 'herself'. Being female, and considered good looking, she is likely vain enough to consider her appearance something that is slightly more than just important.

To be fair, her body is probably gonna be nanomachines... She can probably manage all of the forms she wants if Relentless gives her a hand.

This kind of depends on how Taylor is going to make Lisa's new body. Will it consist mainly of nanomachines with the important parts more solid inside or will she use her nanomachines to create a more Terminator style body. I.e full robot on the inside(excluding the brain and CNS) with artificial skin and nerves on the outside for touch sensations. I suspect Lisa wont have a mutable nanomachine body. If anything she will be more similar to Taylor at the start of the story where she is frozen in one form. Lisa doesnt really have the processing power that Taylor or the other mental models have that would allow her to control her body. With either option she will be stuck more or less how she was built unless theres a way to create a new appearance after the fact. With that considered you have to remember that Taylor has no idea what Lisa looked like originally. She saw a mostly burned and scarred face and might be able to make something approximately the same but it will never be exactly as it was originally.

The best option that i can see is that Taylor leaves the final appearance incomplete until Lisa is able to wake up inside the new body. Then she can just ask her how she wants to look.

2% of a comatose girl with a very probable minor case of serious brain damage.
And?

Either Lisa's never going to be relevant and the entire question is pointless, or she'll be in some sort of working order sooner or later and can easily enough ask Taylor to convince Amy to help.

The real issues with the idea isn't whether or not Taylor can think to ask Amy for help, it's whether or not Taylor's willing to ask, as it'd show off a lot more of herself than she's usually comfortable with, and whether or not Amy would be willing to help, especially without informing anyone.

I'm not sure she can mental-gymnastics Amy's presumed healing power into a "grow over 70 kilos of biological mass from literally nothing". She has always been said to use her patients biomass, aka fat reserves and such as fuel to patch up the injuries. Where the hell would she take enough biomass to make a new body from nothing but a brain? We know she can just use a tub of fungi or something, but Taylor doesn't, and probably nobody but the PRT and her family know it as well. And I'm not sure that Lisa's been near Amy often enough to get a proper read on what she's hiding. Her power isn't a "I know everything about you" power after all, but an overanalysis power.

In Taylor Varga they use onions :D I wonder how Lisa would react to being made out of onions? The jokes would start with the good old "layers" one.

There is a small chance that Amy could somehow get involved with helping Lisa. Small. Very very small. Mainly because she's never done anything like it before, it touches on her insecurities, and could cause all sorts of problems when it gets out she did it. And you know with all the bull*hit thinker powers out there that it would get out unless you wiped Amy's memory of doing it. I could actually see Carol pushing to get Amy Birdchaged if she found out about this. Especially if she isn't the one behind getting it done. There are just too many trigger points for her there.

Given that Taylor knows nothing about how she became what she is, she has no idea of how to do anything similar with Lisa. There is a chance she can use the material she has converted in the bay to provide life support for Lisa's brain, but... Chances are very slim that anything good would result.

My bet is that another ship of the Fog will intervene. Somehow, not likely directly but more likely through communication.

Or Taylor will, through her need to help, receive more unlocks of information that would allow her to do something that is done in canon by other ships.

All we can do is hope that @ensou takes pity on us soon and posts a new chapter. Hope that real life sends her copious amounts of free time, while encouraging her imagination.

EDIT: The odds are wacky in a worm fic simply because powers are bull*hit. However, I think the odds that Lisa comes back as a character are longer than the odds that she is gone. And further, that the odds of Lisa's shard becoming part of Relentless now are better. Sure, you have to go from an organic link to one that is part of an AI, but it's been done before and there is an example already available in the Administrator shard.

If I were a betting man, and someone offered me the bet, I'd sooner go with "bye bye Lisa, nice knowing you" and "Hello Inference Engine, welcome to the Relentless collective".

Now, if Lisa becomes part of that collective due to her "soul" being captured in some fashion by her shard, that's another issue. And I'm not sure that Lisa would be all that happy with an existence as one of Taylor's mini-me constructs ;) Even if she could have her own appearance instead of looking like Relentless or Taylor.

Amy saved Lung from dying from insect venom overdoses after his first encounter with Taylor in canon. She will help if she thinks she can.

The problem is that this help will likely be tied to a requirement that Lisa be restored while in custody, so she can resume whatever legal processes she was in the middle of while in custody.

So, if Taylor wants someone who could literally be the absolute best tactical analyst possible for her when she fields a real ship, she is going to need to get creative somehow to restore Tattletale and keep her out of the legal system.

This is probably a moot point, as I believe Taylor does not know what Tattletale's abilities are. Therefore, how would she know that she'd want TT as a tactical analyst?

I can't believe I told myself no one would try and use this stupid argument...

We know she can just use a tub of fungi or something, but Taylor doesn't, and probably nobody but the PRT and her family know it as well.
Probably everyone does, seeing as anyone Amy heals has to be, or should be, told that they need to eat to regain biomass. It's hardly something that people need to keep secret.

True. Tattletale's exact powers are unknown to Taylor, but she's a known Thinker. Even if her exact powers are not known, just being a Thinker in general makes her very good potential crew material.

The picture of Taylors sigil on postimg.org is broken, their website has been moved to postimg.cc. If you change the link to https://postimg.cc/image/jghtghd8b (Swapping the .org for .cc) then it will work. You'll have to do the same for any other uploaded images that were hosted there.

That is a string of characters long enough that it is possible site admins might do a site-wide search and replace if they are asked nicely.

To be clear, I mean fixing all links to postimg. Not just for this one image.

The thing is that PRT custody is demonstratedly NOT safe for TT, especially if they get in working-enough order for her to explain the Coil situation. Then again, pan-pan is not exactly a bastion of rational decision making, empathy and compromise, so...

if Lisa is a brain-in-a-jar will she end up like Mumbles did by time she gets a body? That would be entertaining...
