Okay, now I guess I have to reread it all!

It's great to see this back, and great to see you writing again.

However I hope to god Lingqi isn't too badly injured, that would just be such a sour note to end this on.

If Maiyu ends up getting away after all of this just she can keep torturing us with her schemes, I swear...

We don't need her to keep causing trouble in the background as we'll have the major factions of the Warring States to tackle and of course any bandit forces that are gathered to attack our County for revenge.

We don't need more problems to overwhelm us if we get too many bad rolls.

I'm pretty sure she does get away, the way the rolls turned out. So our MC gets a personal nemesis for the next few years, maybe the entire length of the quest.

She is a traitor to the Han and a murderer. No sane man with influence will ever accept somebody like her (unless she discards the Ge name forever). At best, she will live like an outcast for some time, before getting into the good graces of somebody with money and power by using her charms and good looks. At worst, she'll end up as a beggar (or a woman of dubious reputation), hoping to start her own little bandit arc.

Is it wrong that I giggled when I saw what happened?

If Lu Bu loses his daughter to this wretch, there is nothing in this world or the next that will stop this juggernaut from simply marching up to her next proverbial sand castle... And kicking it in her face.

It is a little bit yeah. Lingqi is best girl.

And Lu Bu is an unstoppable warrior in battle, and a skilled general, but he's not the brightest and not the best general in this era, if it comes to smashing her in battle it'll be easy, if it comes to hunting her and finding her if she builds up an intrigue network? Forget about it.

I don't want to be upset at what happened since again it's the dice's fault and Gaz had to work with what he got, but I'm so frustrated that this quest finally continues after a long hiatus and this is what happens. It really lessened my good mood today and now I feel conflicted.

I've been invested in the story and characters, of their relationships and trials.

I want Lingqi to survive not just because I don't want Lu Bu to kill us for our failure, but because I want to see where she and Shu go as a couple, how would they raise a family based on their backgrounds? What kind of kid would we see from them?

What would be our legacy for what we have done and will do?

I want to keep reading this quest but this killed some of my excitement and now I'm dreading the next update since Lingqi is now in a Schrodinger's Cat situation.

Just wanted to let my feelings about this be out there. Again, I'm not blaming Gaz for this I'm blaming the dice.

I think Ge family is actually Zhuge family?
We will have Kongming as our personal nemesis.

The only way forward is "Journey to the west".

We gather our troop and family and bring Buddhism scripture back to the Han dynasty.

If I remember right there are still bandits coming. With the bandits heading to the main city of this area. Though no sabotage and are prepared for them. So it should be winnable and then help with the Yellow Turban rebellion?

Damn, we go this long without progress, finally start up again, and the very first update has the crazy bitch who started all this escape while our future wife gets a literal knife in the back. What a fun way to bring it back in.

The bandits are advancing, but their first (and now their second) vanguards have been broken and their most charismatic and skilled leader is dead.

Lu Bu is coming (he abandoned his post and now Zhang Bao Yellow Turban General of the Earth is invading Bing through the east mountains) and may soon smash into their rear in an attempt to get to Liang Shu who proposed to his daughter.

So yes, likely after this we'll have a choice to go North with Lu Bu and fight the Black Mountain Bandit and Yellow Turban Rebel armies with Ding Yuan, or go south and join Dong Zhuo, who is building an army from the nobles around the Capitol to fight the Turbans, though he'll probably be sent to Liang as he was iotl anyway.

Hopefully our physician that helped our sister is able to help Lingqi or gives her a better chance for survival for the next update since we are back in the city.

Honestly, if Lu Bu doesn't end up killing us (just putting us close to it), it will be a miracle.

Yeah next time we do something like this, we are getting more of our men and heroes to come with us, we are not doing something like this again without sufficient back up. EVER.

Hey, I'm just going off half remembered plot bunnies mentioned in this very quest by Gaz.

By all rights she should be out of the picture. But I don't think that's the plan.

Some more AU things I've managed to remember about this timeline so far:

-As well as Zhang Bao advancing through You and then into Bing via a brief alliance with the Black Mountain Bandits and marching through the lands of the northern nomads (and stealing their sheep!) the Yellow Turbans have had other butterflies occur
-In You Liu Yu was murdered by Yellow Turbans, turning much of the population of the province against them, despite their successful occupation of large chunks of it
-Gongsun Zhan and Yue and his White Riders have marched to the north of You and started recruiting the border tribes there like the Wuhuan and Xianbei who admired Yu to fight against the Turbans
-Liu Yu's family was saved by a group of his retainers led by Xianyu Fu, his son, Liu He is planning to avenge his father by aligning himself with local militia
-The General of the Skies, the leader of the Rebellion, Zhang Jue, has captured the Commandary of Julu in Ji province and all its cities.
-The General of the People, Zhang Liang, is training armies and militia across Ji, which has largely fell into the control of the Turbans outside of some urban and fortified areas
-Nanyang in Jin Province has also fell to the rebels, which means that, with if Shu hadn't won here the Captial would've been surrounded on three sides. And it still might if the Turbans capture Taiyuan and march south.

Just a note, as per the most recent Status of the Realm update at least, the YTR progress in Nanyang is roughly on pace with the OTL. Everything else from McLuvin's post is accurate however! At least until the next Han News update, which I won't begin to talk about. (Rolled for it a couple years ago so I do have a draft, but yeah.)

well all I can say is this region of the world is now going who knows what way with chu yan dead and lu bu doing god knows what

I don't think Gaz would open on a cliffhanger and then Lingqi's death.

She may be injured. But I don't think she's dead.

So again, Schrodinger's Cat situation.

Again, I'm not upset at you, just upset at how bad the dice rolls were. I hope that you understand that.

Sure, I do understand, and I'm sorry it happened. This is however the first time in the entire Quest that Liang Shu or one of his "main" allies have suffered any kind of injury or setback in battle despite going against the odds before. Unfortunately, in this instance, the scenario involved Chu Yan (the main villain of the entire arc) and his best troops, as well as an enraged Ge Maiyu who was ultimately essentially the secondary mastermind of the arc. I am sure most of us would have wanted Shu and Lingqi to get through all of this unscathed, but unfortunately reality sometimes does hit. It's ultimately my fault for ending the update on an abrupt cliffhanger which is a very cheap narrative trick, but it was that or not posting one at all
