[X] Use this momentum to smash into the exposed flank of the enemy, and try and break through to their centre
Retreat is infectious.

Also, men who run so quickly are likely to value their lives over returning to their brethren's aid. I would place 1,000 dead bandits over 60 cowards on horses.

Not gonna lie, they not only held briefly whilst outnumbered 2 vs 1 against vastly superior troops, in terms of equipment, leadership and experience, but they also managed to withdraw without getting totally wiped. We also failed to kill their commander.

Maybe we should do a write in? Leave only a single unit of horse, about 60 or so, as rearguard. Just in case.

I just hope they don't rally and smash our back.
Then I would propose you use a write in the line of sending Lingqui with some troops. Her family guard and the mounted companions would have numerical parity with the fleeing bandits while having a moral and qualitative superiority. It would just be 75 instead of ~150.

I would cite rule one of Total War (Always Make Sure They Don't Come Back), but considering it's cavalry, shattering them would take way too long and I doubt we're close enough to the edge of the map to run them off and get back in time to actually still be useful. :V

If they weren't bandits and didn't lose half of their horsemen I'd suspect that this was a feigned retreat. I doubt they have the discipline to pull that off.

Something like that?
[] Use this momentum to smash into the exposed flank of the enemy, and try and break through to their centre
-[]Split Lingqui with her gugard and the Mounted companions to ensure the bandits don´t hit our rear

It may also be worth dispatching a single rider to Yu Zhong to get an update on the Left Flank in case it needs reinforcement.
We will be fighting again before this rider will be back and I doubt he will find us in the enemy´s ranks. This would only makes sense if we would vote for waiting. I think we will see it before we would get a satisfying answer from any messenger.

I can get behind that, setting a guard instead of chasing down fleeing cav and taking the chasers out of the battle while also keeping more units in the charge into the infantry then half works.

If gaz okays that I will switch my vote to the above.

Yep, a guard of decent size is definitely what I mean, not enough to impede our charge, but enough to slow down or make sure our enemy have second thoughts about charging us in the back

@Gaz Does the addendum to the option work or is it not allowed? If it works what repercussions does it involve? Will Lingqui and Shu lose their boni they get through working together?

A guard sounds nice, and in a pinch can observe and act as reserves, go where they're most needed if the whole guard thing seems unnecessary.
