Because 1; She was helpful in investigating Leng Jun, and 2; She is going to be off in Xinshen Town for the foreseeable future, meaning she'll be in position to gather information that the other options flat out won't.

With that said . . .

Thread chatter has convinced me that it's either Maiyu or Lang who's behind this (although it's still up in the air whether they meant for Shu to take the fall), so I'm voting to just let Yu Zhong do his thing.
 
Personally not telling could be worse. He's only holding back is because it's most likely someone Shu likes. That could lead to suspicions of everyone. Would rather know who and just prepare to interact like nothing's changed. This just personal opinion anyway. Not sure how Shu thinks of this.

Does Shu know why its being held from him?

We (as players) seem to already be in the paranoia stage. Anything further could negatively effect our relationships or interactions with our friends and allies, and if it turns out Yu Zhong is wrong, then those losses would be for nothing. Let's just let him do his job for now.

And while I'm all up for sharing that we're starting to pursue Lu Lingqi romantically, I feel like we've already overshared about our promise enough. And, of course, we might as well explain the Ge clan situation.

This is going to be fun. I wonder if the person that did this is the same that was feeding info to the bandits before.
 
All this just brings to mind that we need to increase our INTELLIGENCE. Especially if we are going to be caught up in anything larger than our current forces.

If Maiyu is the one behind this...this will not end so well for us if she finds out Lingqi and us made vows for marriage. She was denied once but the prefect was kinda an asshole. Denied again? By someone she actually cared about? After whole debate with either showing up with maiyu or not?

This has the potential to be a SHIT STORM.

Not gonna lie here, guys. If this really was Maiyu, I'm bumping her another few notches up the Waifu chart. That scorned woman, yandere, assassin sending vibe is doing things to me.

That said, let's quit the games. We all know it's Liang Mi.

In my view it is best to not make any pointed suggestions, disregard the possibility that Yu feels we don't trust his judgment for now; suppose someone overhead this conversation or noticed subtle distancing between PC and one of the contact without clear reason then it will put Yu in very difficult position to investigate since we disturbed the water.
People will also try to search for cause of the change and there is a possibility that they will discover Yu's investigation efforts or reached the conclusion that PC started treating his contacts differently than before.

All of which will distract the attention of the faction from the budding bandit rebellion. Give Yu a free hand and a chance to cement his role in the 3 amigo dynamic.

Alright, I know in text Shu and co think Papa Dong is just protecting him from this, but a part of me really can't escape thinking how easy it might've been for him to set us up, or barring that, paid Sui to kill him, but he confessed or name as grudge (which might potentially mean he won't add to our debt....or he might go with it and us it anyways, idrk).

Otherwise, I think it's most likely that Ge Lang would've paid him off, but again, Sui is a d***. Lang is also probably the only one really interested in seeing the man dead, of the Ge clan.

I can't honestly see either Xu doing it. I....don't actually think Maiyu is at such a stage emotionally or anything, and I'm pretty sure she was never very interesting being married to him anyway. (Now, losing Shu on the other hand....)

The only other options I can think of would be Ding (which probably isn't very likely), Lingqi (not her style at all), Liang Mi (which, I can only consider because of how quiet and little we've really interacted with her), some upper officials we haven't met but don't like us, or our new Prefect (who also doesn't seem the type).

Actually, you know what, what if it was one of the bandit chiefs, like Chu Yang? He ought to be smart enough, and probably savvy enough to pull a setup off, though I'm uncertain as to if we have his attention yet or anything like that. But making trouble for the sole troublemaker to your plans? That seems like a pretty good plan. Even better if he got Sui to actually implicate us because of his grudge or something.

Anyways, that was nice little chapter. Still disheartened over losing Maiyu, at least for the time being (this doesn't have to be the end! We can still make it, I believe!)
