Man, that speech roll. Literally the worst it could be.

[X] A little village in the hills, new and yet old, built upon layers of bones, but peaceful and full of laughter under the light of a waning moon.

As always we end up having to make a decision where we don't even know what we're choosing. Very annoying, particularly when its always in areas that matter.

A great update again.

I like the Moon Phase avatars we met. They are... not exactly how one might imagine such immensely powerful and important, inhuman spirits to be... and they are probably just playing a role, to have Ling Qi at ease... but I like the roles they play. And it is nice that they care enough to not overwhelm or browbeat Ling Qi. Grinning Moon especially seems surprisingly caring. I like her.
Our spirits were pretty neat, too. Poor Hanyi, though. It seems in this dreamstate we see her spiritual 'wounds', left by Zeqing's end and Hanyi's forced breakthrough. Hopefully Ling Qi (and the narrative) will find time to address that soon and help the snarky little cold spirit of death. She is cute!

Vote-wise, it's

[X] The crumbling city of Tonghou, turned inward, shrinking by the decade, lit by the light of a grinning crescent.

for me. I could wax many platitudes here. How it is about Ling Qi's past, and herself. How the first step is always to know yourself. How it is literally where we come from. Our 'foundation', and what that means in Xianxia. And more arguments. But seeing how the vote is going I don't think I need to say all that or make arguments like these. ^^+

Go, past self and let's see what's behind the curtain!
(Ling Qi Dad? Young Master Leecher? Qingge's plight? Maybe seeing Qingge's old 'workplace' again and realizing that it is not a nice and good place but not the pure horror that imprinted itself on the mind of an early teen girl... So many possibilities. ... ... Totally gonna be how Ling Qi stole a blanket from an old man and he froze to death, giving us new trauma. Which is great, of course. With great trauma comes great power if fiction taught me anything!))

Really surprised at the lead for Grinning. Thought this would be a very even split.

She saw Sixiang, fully physical climbing out of the pond, spitting water and looking rather put out.

"Wh-Huh?" Gui chirped in confusion.

"Why am I, Zhen little again!" his other other half hissed in distress, peering around. "Big Sister, what has happened?!"

Well, the Grinning Moon certainly seems to be having fun. :lol

I like how Xin keep on trying to be serious and the other two ruin it for her. I get the feeling it's not the first time it's happened.

Can't decide which. I'm glad most people realize the importance of LQ facing her past, her trauma and how its skewed her view of certain things--things that may be important now or maybe later. But romance should be open as a possibility for her when she's ready, as something pleasurable and adventurous. And that's not possible with her current hangups.
I really don't get the people who have said that her past is irrelevant. It clearly still affects the way she thinks. She shouldn't deprived of romance, its an aspect of life that is very much a part of being human...and also that can help retain her humanity as she grows more powerful
