[X] Xuan Shi: For once, the odd boy has called in your offered favor. He wishes for your aid in penetrating the interior of an odd little temple full of traps and puzzles.

100th!

Argent arts are designed for a balanced element build though, right? I though our sect founder pursued a path of balance between all elements and got a white ranking out of it.

Well, a couple of things there. The Sect Head is not a white actually, he is a prism at best. Still impressive, sure, but not a white. And while the argent arts are built for a balanced elemental build, it does take some serious dedication which we could do if we were going to be in the Sect for a significant period of time. Which we are not.

Additionally, the Argent Arts seem to be built with the idea of an army using them as well (at least the ones that we've seen) and as such are more focused on the melee aspects and being a strong brawler. Ling Qi is not a brawler and works better when she has the mobility to be in different areas of the battlefield doing large AoE effects while debuffing the enemy and buffing allies. As such, the Argent Arts don't really fit well with what Ling Qi has been trying to do so far.

Fire would not be fine. Fire arts focused on attack would absolutely not fit our paradigm.

Morever, yang fire (which would be like zhengui's) only get .3 base bonus, and no bonus dices, so anything that isn't music is gonna train incredibly slowly.

Sure, but Wood, Fire, Music would be 1.3 .

A Renewal or Vitality art would most likely be Spine/Heart, which would add another .05-.1.

I agree offense would be a bad idea, but while Xiulan could substitute for the Destructive Fire side, I don't think we'll be able to find a teacher for Wood Fuels Fire fertilizes Wood Renewal.

Besides, if we're very very lucky, we might use some family time on that art.

Well, yes but such an art wouldn't help zhengui attack power, which was the original discussion.

We are gonna need a remplacement for TRF, that's true, but it's a completely different discussion.

Oh, sorry, I thought I started this conversation with my suggestion of getting a Wood, Fire, Music, Renewal art, I didn't realize there was a completely different independent conversation about getting a Fire art to spend time with and maybe buff Zhengui.

Such are the perils of posting with three pages unread.

If you voted for family time hoping we would get to double dip and spend it training arts I think you're going to be very disappointed. We need to think about tightening our belts and focusing on things we already do and are good at, not spreading out into new specialties. As it is Stealth is slipping away, and despite a huge narrative focus on Spirits we don't have any sort of art involving them.

We have one actually, it's a good group buff art, we just haven't learned it yet.

While I like IMH a ton(mostly for how potential Insights will jive with our planned Domain than for actually using it, I'm super whelmed by that Hearth keyword), I'd like something with Keywords that actually call out to Zhengui's nature.

Oh, I essentially agree with you on the whole time use thing, which is why I threw two "very"s in front of lucky.

A Spirit Ken art could probably fit as an Archive 3 replacement for our Fade or Resilience arts. I'm not really worried about it in the short term though, it's got 25 xp before we have to split, and we never vote to train it.

Actually, what does the Cold Element even do? Music is what lets us play music that ignores whether the other guy can physically hear us or not, Cold seems to be a similar elemental kicker.
I assumed it had currently no effect and we'd only unlock whatever specialty that element has through contact and training with Hiayu.
But if i were to guess i'd say it'd render the Cold technique(s) immune to physical things. While you could potentially block a blast of water with a (large) sword, a wall of earth or something similar, a blast of cold will simply go right through whatever material you try to use to block it.

Actually asked in a PM, apparently it's going to be elaborated on at some point during this turn but it's "temperature themed entropy", and will probably count as Darkness or Water for the purposes of Meridians, whatever's more convienent.

Wow Yrs,

SMB was already going to be OP at the Tourney assuming we got the next Domain level, but this....

This...

THIS IS A WEAPON TO SURPASS METAL GEAR!!!

The last part's not finalized yet I might point out. Only thing that seems definitely established is the theme.

I would also point out that this kind of thing is something all of our genuine rivals will have access to as well.

Oh sure, to be clear I don't actually think SMB will be OP.

It's a high grade material processed by a good crafter, and we have it linked to a Skill we have Uncapped.

To contrast with lower quality, every other FS we saw stats for was att+att, not a skill.

No worry I believe most of the discussion about zhengui fire side not growing signicantly (at least compared to his wood side) was on the discord. I apologise for butting in if it was a completely different discussion.

I mean, honestly I would love a straight Fire art if we were in a lower stress situation, something like a Green Music version of Burning Heart Art from the first art vote, but alas our goal is just shy of impossible, for now.

With LQ's job and incoming barbarian incursion in mind, what does she need to focus on? Any ideas?

Primary: combat crowd control, combat support, combat dodge/mobility, social perception
Secondary: combat perception, social support, stealth (hiding)
Tertiary: fomations (security), stealth (sleight of hand), stealth (infiltration)

I don't think spending time on formations, outside of practicing breaking them, is a good idea. I also think combat involving a few individuals at most should be a strong secondary focus for us. It's currently a significant part of our build and we'll be relying on it for the next two years anyway. Single target attacks like CtE, which will be used heavily in this type of combat, have synergy with stealth as well.

What we will do depend mainly on what arts we will get in the close future (CRX and from the moon quest).

What we can expect to train soonish is CDE+ alongside PLR, which means a dance focus, and a divination one.
