in the end there's a limit to what you can do as one outsider without the whole empire turning and collapsing in on you. If the literal actual sage was reborn in the second or third dynasty he'd probably get crusehed shortly after hitting violet when the big boys and girls all turn and go 'nope'
Karthak said:You said that if the Sage were somehow to come back and try to reconquer the Empire he'd get stomped after he got to Violet. But that got me thinking, how would Big Dragon react if she noticed that her darling boy had somehow, inexplicably, been reborn fully as himself, memory and personality included?
What the current Dukes would think of the Sage as a person instead of a historical figure:Yrsillar said:very difficult given her status but yeah sure if he manages to communicate that to her the empire is in trouble
more likely to break the empire than unify it though
What he'd think of Shenhua:Yrsillar said:A frightening canny general and orator, but with some pretty severe vices and a towering arrogance to overmatch even the Bai
Well yes he was quite a drinker, but he's definitely highly overbearing and generally demanded much greater from his (non-bai, Zheng) subjects than is considered well mannered today
Who today could 1v1 the Sage:Yrsillar said:wince
highly skilled and valuable. He'd want her under his thumb and uh... for other reasons
one on one no prep with updated equips the Sage can probably take it, give Shenhua a prep period she can probably tip it
if its Shenhua and Linqin Vs. Sage and anyone of his prism subordinates, Diao and Shenhua take it though
The relationship between the Sage and his mom:Yrsillar said:Sure, Sun Shao could probably 1v1 him. White Suzhen might be able to manage, maybe the Guo patriarch
assuming the Sage gets his equips upgraded to modern levels
otherwise he's at a much greater disadvantage
yeah thats why he loses to the direct war focused guys
he's more leader spec
and wide area effects
.... kinda crx-ish really
Yrsillar said:He did consider her his mother, and though it was more like an old woman adopting a cat at the beginning for her, she did eventually see him as her heir and son. When he finally eclipsed her she was very happy and submitted to his rule the way a good parent should in dragon society
I'm pretty sure Shenhua in the Sage's time ends the same way for him, he just gets eaten as part of the ascension of a cloth demon instead of a Jungle one. Considering her seeming association with starstuff, the danger of starstuff to cultivators, and the relative locations of the provinces, this is probably considerably worse for the Empire.
