Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Her mother had picked out a nice, understated gown in dark blue and black. Ling Qi had told her she didn't need to stick to Ling Qi's color scheme, but she'd not taken any of it.
Oh god is our clan's uniform gonna be goth.
[X] Where the two of you are going (+1 to Persistence XP)

I don't really care about the XP but I'd like to hear Yu Nuan's thoughts on what she'd like to do in the new fief
[x] Where the two of you have come from (+1 to Freedom XP)

I like freedom.
There's a moratorium.

XP wise we will get freedom to 2 later. Persistence is more trouble. Narratively, I think that the future is more interesting. That they will bond more.

"More personally," Ling Qingge asked, gesturing uncomfortably toward you Nuan. "Those… metal things, why… precisely?"

Yu Nuan fingered the piercings through her lower lip. "It started as a cultivation thing. I found an art that used bits of metal piercing the body as qi foci. It got me into the Inner Sect. Now I just like them."

I do find it kind of funny Qingge is asking this, her experience with cultivators is so wild.

Cautionary tale monster daughter, necromancer Suyin, angy snek girl, rough fox girl, even Xuan Shi has strange features and talking patterns underneath heavy clothing.

Yu Naun is pretty tame considering all that. Maybe this is just the first chance she's had to ask without it being wildly inappropriate or awkward and she's just jumping on it, or because this one is a more obviously personal aesthetic choice? I wouldn't blame her for being worried if Biyu is gonna come home with flaming hair and glowing eyes at some point or another, if Sun spirits stick their nose in things it could even happen.

While knowing the past of someone is important, we are trying to build a long-term relationship with her. We also ourselves have let go of our ties to a biological family that severed ties with our mother. Finding out the future seems to be more in character and useful to build a relationship.

There is a two hour wait for voting.

I kinda wanna see Yu Nuan's backstory in more detail and how it connects to Qi's. Maybe they can bond over their shitty commoner backgrounds together! Plus I'd like some more freedom and this will level it up iirc!

She's likely to go for the classical look. I'd say something like Victorian gothic if that weren't obviously incorrect for the setting. So the ancient Chinese equivalent of it.
That does make me wonder if as she gains power and "age" if she'll shed the dead little girl look and maybe turn into another snow lady or if she'll just be an adult dead lady in fancy clothes

This would give us the next upgrade to the Freedom text. I'd be interested in that and numbers go up is always a good feeling.

Narratively I think this makes a LOT more sense for them to talk about. They've both spoken of the past before, but now that we're moving forward with the adoption future planning becomes more important.

I'm happy with either though.

I'm leaning heavily towards this option.
In regard to Concepts, we have already explored extensively Ling Qi's view on Freedom. What it means to her, how she yearns for it, but also rejects an absolute lack of connections. How Ling Qi concluded that she wants to freely choose her bindings.
But we haven't really thought about how we view Persistence, despite how important it has been in Ling Qi's life. At least not explicitly. And that is reflected in our Cultivation Plans. We have several ways to raise Freedom. The Grinning Moon is our first Moon Patron! But we can only raise Persistence through UGM. So I think this is a good chance to do so.

In regard to discussion topics, I'm more interested in reading about our future plans. We already have a good understanding of Yu Nuan's backstory. Even if it's a bit shallow, we still can see the general picture.
Ling Qi's origins has been a major focus point through all the quest. But it's only recently that she has begun to seriously think beyond mere survival and continously proving her worth.
I want to see what is it that Ling Qi wants from and for her fief in the future. And how Yu Nuan fits in that vision.
