Clarifying adoption is a way for smaller clans to expand, since you're both of the same generation the typical arrangement would basically slot her into a 'sibling' role. You're the head/matriarch so ultimately tyou still have all authority, but you'd be expected to act with her interests in mind as a family member too.

I'm tempted to say yes just for the dog, but this feels like something Ling Qi should discuss with someone actually close to her before making a decision one way or another. Mom should have a say in adopting people, but our friends with no personal stakes in the Ling family can still give advice and help Qi figure things out even if they're not the ones making the decision.

We might also get to recruit Su Ling and the Ma Sisters in the future. Who knows, maybe we can poach all four. But after Ling Ling Ling Nuan does sound pretty good.

A girl we challenged to a music contest a long while ago. Then Ling Qi's ice sister did something to annoy her, and we decided to help her bind a spirit as restitution. She was looking for something relatively normal at first, but we decided "fuck that" and rolled dice to get her a better spirit.

Rolled 100, got her A Good Dog, and so she became a recurring character. For some meaning of "recurring" anyway.
Honestly the Ling clan might end up more famous for their menagerie of spirits rather than their musical arts.

I am provisionally for this, she's a musician which means we can talk shop but she also has a different style which means she brings new capabilities to the table, and she does have some pertinent expertise since we're certainly going into herding if we end up in the mountains. And you know, another Green with potential to grow is nothing to scoff at.

But I do think we should defer if only to make sure we have our ducks in a row here.

I dont think Ling Qi will ask her mom her opinion if we report the choice to later.
Ling QI making decisions without asking her spirits and family what they think is quest mechanics not "not letteing familly have a say".

Yu Nuan is a pretty good fit for the Ling Clan, though I am all for her joining even if that wasn't the case.

Her having Qui also makes for a possibility of using raiju (thunder dogs) as our version of herding dogs, which I find absolutely adorable. Not only are raiju cool af, them being thunder dogs also has an open connection to music for anyone more inclined towards booming musical styles.

Also this is an open connection to that Raijin-abs spirit.

One trait I want Ling Qi to have picked up from Zequing is that if someone asks to join her family, her immediate thought is MINE.

About herding... I really hope that we can grow something and have fields ... I want to see Zhengui in the role of an agricultural deity ...

Heya! Long time lurker on this quest, first time posting eva, but that vote finally pushed me to subscribe, so you'll probably have to bear with me now.

Amazing job on the quest, the whole world building and all of that. This is golden and you're the reason I started taking an interest in the xianxia genre. Keep it up, you rule.

Back on topic : I'm definitely encline to let her in. Sure, the doggo seems funny and is a plus, but actually having another compositor with us at all time to bounce idea could be a good thing in the long run. Sure, we got our muse, but Sixiang is still a spirit, hence lacking the perspective of a "mortal".
Nuan also hinted that she knew a thing or two about how to care for a territory in the mountain range, which could be another point in her favor if we can use her knowledge for our benefit.
Finally, let's be real, we're not, yet, sufficiently prominent to get more attention for better adoption/vassals. Having a 3rd realm who ultimately answer to us before anything else to keep an eye on things and eventually defend our territory when we're on mission for/with CRX is something we should consider.

To conclude :
[] : Yes it.
[] : Wait till 15.

Give that we're liable to be away from our lands quite often for diplomacy, and our lands will likely be fairly untamed, having another third realm to take care of things while we're away would be very useful.

I like what I recall of her and honestly I don't think Mom is going to object very strenuously, though I think she'll be wary around new people for a while just due to her history and current position. Still, Ling Qi is gonna get married at some point so keeping the clan as blood-family and situation-family only is gonna be problematic eventually anyway.
Not impossible, but we're gonna hit these problems at that point too so might as well get it started early on so we can deal with anything that crops up.

Very unexpected offer however, I thought she was going to float and alliance and maybe being neighbours wherever we set up, not full adoption. Still her perspective is close enough to be reasonable but far enough to be able to give meaningful insight in decision making. I'm all for it.

The Ling being a bunch of colorful performance types was going to be a thing but it's still funny to see happen in real time

Mama Cai looking at her stable of fashion nut jobs then looking at Renxiang starting to amass a cabal of music weirdos

"Good good."

Did not see this coming...

but this is honestly a fantastic opportunity, and it makes sense for Yu Nuan and Ling Qi.

Like, being a new baron is pretty shit. You need support. One green isn't exactly secure or stable - there's a reason the Sect allocates two greens to their villages.

And trying to actually grow the Ling to something stable is going to be one of our big challenges. There's a reason why the existing clans are all trying to snap up talented commoners - maintaining a stable of decent cultivators isn't easy, especially for baronal clans.

If we like her and think she's sound, then we should absolutely jump on this. Her skills are proven, and she's music too which is a good fit. Only question at this point is character.
