[X] To the training hall, where you can even now hear the sounds of blunted weapons and the thump of fists on flesh.

Sure but like, people are not fish. They are in fact capable of explaining their own history and culture to you in clearer terms than just trying to piece it together yourself.
I was addressing culture specifically, not history. And I have to strongly disagree. People know how to act within their culture. They generally don't actually understand their culture unless they've been heavily exposed to different ones already. And they tend to be very very bad at assessing what parts of their life are unique to their culture and what are shared as human universals. (Particularly, people from a monocultural environment tend to assume the vast majority of their culture is actually human universals.)

Priests aren't ordinary people however. Theologians are quite aware of the blind spots and pitfalls in their own doctrine, especially ones whose religion doesn't seem too centralized since they work within a confederation between the Cloud Tribes and Iron-Toothed Crone's followers who aren't always in league with one another.

This... is very far from my experience of most priests in real life (with a few notable exceptions.) So we might just have to disagree on this.

Sun/Gan is fine I guess.

[X] To the entrance hall, to see what stories Meng Dan is managing to extract.

[X] To the Sun Shrine, to see how Gan Guangli is getting along with the… priests.

I would argue that learning about history can be important as well for our mission, but I'm honestly fine with either of these winning
