Prominent Sect Members:
Sect Master Zheng Hu:
Former Minister of Law under the Divine Emperor An, Sect Master Zheng Hu was one of the two individuals who oversaw the initial establishment of the Ministry of Integrity, alongside Master Sima Jiao, late of the Argent Peak Sect. As a member of a ducal clan, many regarded his choice of career strangely, but as Minister of Law, Zheng Hu proved an inestimable genius of the Law, carrying out Emperor An's many reforms with clarity and efficiency. In the wake of The Emperor's ascension, Zheng Hu retired with great honors, to take up the position of Sect Head and educate new generations.

Minister of Law Sima Wen: Grand niece of former Minister of Integrity Sima Jiao, and apprentice of Zheng Hu, although she is new to her position, already she shows the signs of her Master's genius and her Grand Uncle's finesse. As a close advisor of Empress Xiang, the Minister maintains the dignity and prestige of her station well, and aids the Empress in her revaluations of internal law.
Well this one is most certainly interesting to see, relations to Elder Jiao

Holy shit the Thousand Precepts is bluer than blue, I think the only way you could reliably get in there is by coming from "the right family". Because the combination of super hard exams, with fees, plus that interview? Yikes.

I ain't ever gonna advocate to send one of our kids/adoptees to Thousand Precepts. If they want to learn law they can learn from Ren-ren or something lol.

And thinking about it and talking it over with @picklepikkl on discord, Blue Mountain and Rushing Cloud would both probably be good for kids, since they're closer to home for one thing but Blue Mountain is good for more contemplative and history interested kids while Rushing Cloud is good for kids who are more interested in admin and general-y military things.

What bothers me with [] I am the Student of [Winter's Muse][Songstress of Endings], Feel free to join the performance how you see fit is that Ling Qi doesn't have a reason to say any of these things. It's completely out of character. She has nothing to gain in giving the Ice Witch insight into herself before figuring out what she wants, unless of course we mean to confirm what the woman already knows. Ling Qi definitely, absolutely has a stake in what the lady does in this fight and even this kind of flowery language doesn't suit the mood she's in in the middle of a battlefield.

What does this even communicate to the Ice Witch? That we don't care about this battle and the struggle of our allies? That we're indeed somehow related to a Winter/Endings spirit as if the woman didn't want details in a conversation. We're not inviting her to speak later, we're not giving her any indication of our intentions or communicating anything that'll give her ground to proceed in approaching us. We're challenging her to "perform" as if that isn't telling the Cultivator of icy death to attack our allies! She won't just turn on the barbarians out of the blue just because we're being cheeky! This is a life and death situation and we're fucking about?!

Like, for one second think about how you would interpret someone saying this if you were in the Ice Witch's shoes. How does this make any sense?! Are we going to tell our superiors in the Sect that we asked for a fucking performance when offered aid from a possible ally? Are we going to tell Renxiang that her vassal who she's considering making into a diplomat when offered an in with a possibly hostile or allied Ducal level power we choose to... What ever this is? Shame on you.

Alectai's write-in directly answers the ice woman's apparent question about our lineage, which other options don't. There's a good chance she currently thinks we're spirit-blooded or has some other misunderstanding. Honestly explaining who our teacher was clears this misunderstanding. Though this could be disadvantageous, it works well the Ling Qi's sincerity. The main other issue here is the amount of time it would take to communicate this, which we aren't certain of.

The other half of this option is a response to the ice woman's apparent offer of aid. I agree with the idea of responding to this but I don't agree with describing our current situation as a "performance." While it is a performance in some ways, that shouldn't be what Ling Qi is thinking right now given that she's just seen Zhengui being heavily hurt while Hanyi and CRX have also taken damage. I still think this option is good enough to approval vote for though.

We literally made it part of our Cultivation to not tell random ice women things they're offering to help us in exchange for.
I don't see it that way?

She asked about something related to lineage, and offered something related to aid or possibly asked for it, the Songstress write in answers her potential question honestly without giving our full hand away and leaves the ball in her court. I'm honestly more curious about her response in such a situation than what the other options provide, and if we can have a temporary ally, great!

...............She's literally only talking to Ling Qi because she recognizes Zeqing's personal Arts.

Not only that but it's spelled out in the new RR Interlude that Zeqing and the Ice Witches have a common ancestor in the great glacier that once covered the Argent Sect mountain before it retreated and a fragment of it that was left behind became Zeqing.

You're treating Ling Qi and the voters (and Yrsillar given you seem to think he'll interpret the write-in in the most harmful way possible) as if they're idiots just because the Write-in uses flowery language instead of some direct statement.

Like did you just skip over the statement about how our music makes it so communication barriers aren't a problem?

So, I've had some time to think, and while there's not a lot that we know about Elsa, we do know some things:

1) She isn't speaking to Ling Qi in the tongue of the Cloud Barbarians that is intelligible to everyone else - it's a very specific dialect which Ling Qi doesn't know/ isn't familiar with. This indicates that we are currently operating within a misunderstanding. She is assuming something about Ling Qi that Ling Qi either is not, or at least is not aware of.

1.5) Alternatively, it's possible she just wants to keep things secret and so defaulted to her best guess as to what might work. Working against this assumption is the existence of social arts.

2) Her domain has something to do with stillness or possibly entropy - even the Revel, made of Moonlight and Dreams, slows down in her presence.

3) We are all about constant motion so there's going to be a bit of a Domain fight there that we're probably going to lose.

4) She can read Ling Qi: she aborted her attack on Zhengui and replaced it with another after noticing something about Ling Qi. My guess is that she understood immediately that were she to massively injure Zhengui, there would be no further communication possible.

4.5) Though it probably wouldn't have hurt her all that badly, she probably would not have expected Zhengui to explode.

5) She said something regarding aid and lineage and also gestured to the starstone. I assume Ling Qi did not misinterpret her meaning: it's definitely possible, but I doubt we'd be given a major clue like that as a red herring when the vote revolves around deciphering the very little we know about her.

5.5) That said, I do think the lineage thing might be her introducing herself like Coulson did with Thor and Thor taking from that 'Son of Coul', just like Ling Qi is going... lineage, probably? and not quite getting it.

5.6) Assuming the aid regarding the starstone is legit what she's trying to say, then either she is looking for any excuse to sabotage the alliance-building efforts among the cloud nomads OR Ling Qi's presence supersedes all other concerns. Or both.

6) Ling Qi's answer is presumably intelligible to all - either Ice Lady muffles it (probable, she came to a negotiation, not a war) or everyone within earshot hears it.

7) We've come to the inflection point: what we do next determines the course of the fight. Worst case scenario is she becomes a hostile and attacks us, best case scenario she becomes an ally.

8) How either of those outcomes is achieved is unclear because her motivations are unclear.

[X] Tell her to leave for it isn't safe for her here, you can talk later.

I've been persuaded to change my vote:

[X] I am the Student of [Winter's Muse][Songstress of Endings], Feel free to join the performance how you see fit

Though in the interest of avoiding a split vote, I would also support the simpler version originally provided:

[X] Tell her to help if she's so interested in you, you can talk later.
