Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Are we gonna have her go straight into a fair bit of noble politics while she is still fairly unprepared for it? She has no Social Arts to help protect herself, and this is the exact type of situation that she is scared of.

Ling Qi, your first realm mother noticed," Sixiang chided. "What do you think?"
Burn.
Ling Qi nodded, shifting the stencil left three centimeters and down
I like how messed up all the units are. When you can see with plain eyes to the atomic level, having exact measurements are needed.
Behind them, the door slid open, and almost in unison, they both twitched violently, the stencil shifted, and Xuan Shi's brush went off course.
Intense darkness cultivator doing intense things.

I don't like it not with what happened last time inviting her to a group even if were good mediating now, even if it's with good intentions thats not always how it pan's out.

I'd like to introduce Su Ling to the Noble sparring group but it's also not going to be steady getting everyone together with the war going on and them not always being there.
I think we should leave her be for now getting settled before inviting her to a group, we don't have to force the issue right now.

[] Hold off, Let Su Ling settle into the Inner Sect for longer before springing new social groups on her.

I just realized something. Ling Qi's whole domain is about home and family. And if she likes you, it's basically designed to make you feel safe, like you'll never be alone again.

Heck, IIRC even Zhengui once mentioned that he could tell whenever Ling Qi was nearby cause being in her domain feels like someone giving you a big hug.

... is this why we seem to be surrounded by dorks all the time? Is our domain catnip for sad or lonely people?

"Yu Long thinks little of the matter, he returns home, drudging away at his tasks. Time passes, and it comes to pass that Yu Long's father makes a contract with another family, alliance, in trade for one of his sons. A beneficial bargain for the family indeed, and a good deal for his layabout son as well," Xuan Shi said wryly. "But Yu Long is familiar with his wife to be, and finds the match abhorrent, a greedy and elderly woman of a merchant clan. Known to never allow her young husbands beyond the walls of her house."
So given that we know that the Bai and the Xuan negotiated about a match between Meizhen and Shi:

Has he called Meizhen a greedy and elderly woman here? :V

What's this, a platonic male/female friendship? An example of "oh he's totally into you" that isn't proven right and remains reasonably unawkward (or at least productively awkward)? Be still my beating heart. Always get frustrated by the narratives that suggest mixed gender friendships have to conclude romantically so, assuming this doesn't, Xuan Shi may become my new fave.

Also yay to the Lings chilling and talking troubles of being new blood barons from scrappy starts. Love those two together and hope to see more of them. Not sure rushing to include Su Ling is a good idea since this is a CRX requested task and Su Ling tends to find this stuff uncomfortable but would be cool to see her join eventually.
You, uh, seemed to have missed it

"So it is not really about me?" Ling Qi asked. It seemed that it really was a misunderstanding after all.

Xuan Shi's expression flattened, and for a moment he seemed to be at odds with himself. "...This one is not certain if Miss Ling is mocking him."

Ling Qi's face fell. "I am sorry."

Xuan Shi closed his eyes. "This one would be deeply thankful if Miss Ling could forget the matter. Know that this one has no ill intentions. Miss Ling's friendship is more than enough."

"Of course, I am sorry for delving into uncomfortable topics," Ling Qi said, bowing her head. She paused, unsure of herself. "Xuan Shi, please understand, it is not you at fault. I am simply not comfortable with such things. I-It may be difficult to understand for you, but my experiences with… romantic attention are all unpleasant. I would be glad to call you friend."

He is indeed into Ling Qi, but he's not aiming to pursue it
He was hoping that it might get there eventually though
After this conversation he's accepting that it won't progress that far but is happy to settle for friendship

That moment where Ling Qi's face fell is because she realized he was in fact attracted to her, and everything afterward was her scrambling to figure out how to let him down easy

He is attracted to her, and he was kind of hoping things might progress past friendship at some point
but he kinda had this idealized vision where that happens naturally without having to confront the issue lol

Su Ling is uncomfortable and uncertain, introducing her to a new group when she doesn't know how she should behave now (or if she even wants to) is not a thing that would help her in any way. Ling Qi needs to set back and fucking chill for once.

[] Invite Su Ling to the training group. As the co-organizer, inviting a few close friends was allowed.

Heavily in favor of this currently, because while Su Ling was better than us at socialising with other low birth people in the outer sect, she had issues with high borns, and she might end up finding excuses to push back meeting people.

Considering that right now she has probably a good reputation as someone who did a great job from the sect, it would be much easier for her to meet people when they are well disposed toward her than when they are not.

Also as mentioned, Liang He is also someone she can sort of bond with, maybe.

Ling Qi looked away, toying with a strand of her hair, twisting it between her fingers. "It is… not necessarily a bad thing," in the end a story and a song were both similar things, vehicles to carry an artist's meaning to their audience. If this tale had spoken to him so strongly… that was simply down to the writer's skill. "You see yourself in Yu Long then?"
Now I want Ling Qi to compose a sound track for the books.

Guess I'll just keep hoping to one day find that uncomplicated platonic male/female friendship in fiction. 😞

With how relatively unique Su Lings ability to divine the enemy is in the inner sect I feel there is a real danger she will see quite a lot of deployment. As such I don't think waiting to make connections is good idea.

I also got the impression that Wen Cao is slightly better / more confident at guiding people the Han Jian was, but as we only have one scene with him I might be proven wrong here.

Ling Qi and Han Jian?
Yeah, we just need to actually vote for his social options this time when he get in at the end of the year. Not only has he not shown any particular romantic interest in Ling Qi, but he's got additional assurance in that he knows what will happen if he follows up spurning Xiulan with flirting with her best friend.

Funny how Ling Qi, despite having worst social, manages to create so many friendships that at least 2 people saw it and wanted in.

Maybe it is BECAUSE she has low social and is blunt and honest, allowing her to build far more deep and meaningful relationships than those politicking around.
I don't think it has much to do with being blunt and honest. The big difference between Ling Qi, Bai Meizhen, and Xuan Shi here is that while all were really bad at social but wanted friends to prevent ending up lonely - Ling Qi had SV in the back of her mind pushing her to keep reaching out and trying to forge bonds despite how bad at it she was.

Lots of introverted people who aren't great at social get frustrated and discouraged after a failure or two, but Ling Qi kept getting back on that horse to make connections despite occasional flat out rejection from Sun Liling or two cases of rocky starts and awkwardness (Golden Fields Group and the initial troubles with Su Ling). It didn't always work out and she often had to prioritize, but as much as Ling Qi optimized her schedule to Always Be Cultivating she put in almost as much optimization into continually reaching out to social with someone or other during her time in the outer sect.

[] Hold off, Let Su Ling settle into the Inner Sect for longer before springing new social groups on her.

Invite Su Ling, poster child for doing things at her own pace and not playing the noble social game and fresh off getting into the Inner Sect something she was really ambivalent about in the first place, to a party whose entire purpose is to engineer a place for noble social games for a noble whom we are playing a noble social game on.

Yeah, she'll thank us for that for sure.
