Plan Too Tired to Think Of A Name, Just Finished Exam
-[x] Write in: His brother's master should be another Jedi because family do not always make the best teachers, but Kador will be allowed to supplement his brother's instruction and patrol schedules arranged so they can spend plenty of time together.
-[x] Holocron of Nomi Sunrider (1/3)
-[x] Masters' Trial: +8 to 14/20.

The Jedi of Telos watch the image of the holocron. Nomi, lightsaber in hand, stands, moving, flowing, faster than fast and quicker than quick.

"The Sith ravage their bodies with drugs and chemicals to claim strength. In the end it ruins them, but in the moment it makes them powerful. You may not be stronger of body...but you are quicker, faster, better, more classically trained. The stamina, the long term, is on your side: Claim it!"

Iolete tosses and turns on the simple bed that the temple has given him. Occasionally he murmurs names, some Kador knows and others he doesn't.

His brother, cloaked in the shadows, watches with his companion. "Six years. He was stuck with that beast for six years." He looks away, out of the small viewscreen to the Dantooine plains.

"You couldn't have known." A feminine voice answers him.

"I should have. He's taken plenty of beatings before. You know, when we-"

His brother jerks and in a second Kador is there, hand on his shoulder. "Brother! Brother! You're alright, you're alright I promise. I am here. Nothing will harm you in this place."

His brother's red eyes, jerked wide open, slowly relax to a calmer position; his breathing calms. Kador wraps his arms around his brother, and lets the emotions flow from him through the Force.

"I'm...alright. Just bad dreams."

Kador looks his brother in the eyes. A once round face has thinned, arms that had been soft have grown wire taut and hard; every bit of him has been sharpened in the hellfurnace of the galactic underground. Scars, still fresh and raw, line his face.

Jawna is lucky to be dead.

"The Council has not agreed to my request. However, they have promised that every step of the way I will be involved in your training. And furthermore, they have placed you under the care of a Jedi of no small wisdom."

Atris.

Mission 1 (Grandmaster Bao-Dur, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Core)
-Grandmaster Bao-Dur-

One of the Yuuzhan Vong Shaper Executives, the leaders of their society; the executioners of their legislature; has requested our help with a fact-finding mission to a pre-Hyperspace society within their borders. They are, apparently, not overly far from the leap. While the Vong usually use their incredible prowess in shaping flesh to do as such, implanting agents within their society, the last few dozen they have sent have disappeared.

We are heading to Canto Kadra to pick up Kador's replacement in our group.

GO-TO droids helping in the reconstruction of the Lothal Sector have started behaving...oddly. While, by and large, they are within what would be normal for droids, considering what Go-To was like, I feel the need to keep watch.

-
Councilor Atton Rand-

The planetary government of Nemoidia has found something: an ancient droid factory, dating back to the Rakatans and the Infinite Empire.

They have asked us to help ensure the safety of their workers. Unfortunately, they didn't take my advice and just nuke the site from orbit.

Although, to be fair, I suppose having Kiwaga city blown to bits might be a bit of a hard-sell...

While the others are off gallivanting about killing pirates, my apprentice and I have wandered into the desert for training. It is not as dangerous as it sounds, but the solitude should be helpful in developing his-- and my-- skills.

Kador has agreed to follow only a day behind in his speeder.

We have landed on Aoba, and are currently performing study of the Obans. At the same time, myself and the Shaper have been discussing why the Vong are so leery to involve themselves in the matter of less technologically advanced species. According to them, the Vong are afraid. They, who shape life so easily to make it a tool, are afraid that they might make a whole species, a people, tools; manipulate them, use them, without ever having any intent to do as much.

Of course, the argument falls a little flat when you consider that, according to scans we are discreetly performing, somebody, from among the Aoba, has been manipulating the species themselves.

We have wandered into a...difficult, situation. One of the slave-catchers that originally kidnapped my Padawan in the first place is on planet, and we have stumbled onto their camp.

The man claims to have left the business behind, but on the off chance he is lying we are examining his star-ship thoroughly. Hopefully before Kador arrives.

Mission 1 (Grandmaster Bao-Dur, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Core)
-Grandmaster Bao-Dur-

Way back, a hundred or so years ago, a wandering band of pirates secretly crashed in the middle of a desolate scratch of desert, pummeled by the absolute ferocity of the Antalderi Nebula. Using that technology and with other visiting aliens near-constant, a capital-fascist conspiracy seized power in an invisible coup, deeming themselves guardians of their species without consent of the guarded, hiding knowledge and claiming all practical political power.

Unfortunately for them, a Jedi is not so easily dispatched. Nor, for that matter, a Shaper.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't, in a certain sense, glad that it will be the Vong defusing that mess and not the Republic.

Of course, with my luck I'll be back here in six months.

The two of them and the slave-shipper made a deal. They would look in the man's cargo bay.

If they found a sapient being in bondage, they'd kill the slaver. Then and there. And give his wealth and ship to the freeman.

If not, he'd be free. Not an hour later, the ship was off.

I sense the thing is finished, whatever the case may be in its conclusion.

Synod of Dantooine

As the order has regrown, various matters have grown to a medium importance. Some merely administrative: which temple will be the permanent capital; and others...not: Hutt refugees report what sounds suspiciously like Jedi-Syncretic cults.

However there is an argument to be made that you are not ready to answer these questions.

Will you host the Synod of Dantooine?

[] Yes. Host the Synod of Dantooine in 3944 BBY, dealing with at least the two aforementioned matters.

[] No.
--

I'm going to be a little busy over the weekend, so I figured setting myself up for a long vote would be a good idea.

Ex Cathedra, the matters discussed are important but not immediate.

Moratorium for 12 hours.

Synod of Dantooine pt. 1 (3944 BBY)
Synod of Dantooine

On the surface, one could be forgiven for believing everything of the Dantooine Praxeum has changed. From five great chambers: the Archive, the Council room, the Dojo, the medbay, and the storage bay; it has expanded to more than ten in the center building alone. Not mention the extra wings, which flow together to the center building; an extra five, each houses forty of the Jedi who even now make this place home. From what was once a small, secret, elite, academy that accepted only the greatest of students, it has expanded into a mighty, beating heart.

But in the center, as it ever was, there is a tree, there is a Council, and there is the Order. Jedi of every shape and size-- twi'leks, chiss, trandoshans, wookiees, all are present in this, the great synod. Every initiate, every master, ever knight and every padawan is gathered here, from every part of the Order's terrain. To bare witness, to what is now passed.

There are two, dominant, questions for you to answer at this particular second:

1. The question of a permanent headquarters. You have several rapidly expanding facilities: Dantooine, Ossus, and Telos, to name just a few. As well, you have gained control over Coruscant's temple. And then there are the worlds of which you know that are not currently in your grasp but could be reclaimed.

2. The Syncretic cults of Hutt Space. The Hutt Consortium has lodged formal complaints with the Republic Senate of "Rogue Jedi" fermenting pseudo-Revolutionary cults as a deniable form of warfare against the Hutts, though the Senate has presented a dominant, unified face "go fellate a blaster you jumped up mafiosos." A nice change of pace from the usual. The refugee Ogrra the Hutt has given you more information as well: these cult-cells worship a nearly messianic, abolitionist Pantheon of purified deities that spout Jedi Philosophy. They also blow up slave ships, slaughter slaver catchers, and have run a bloody handed crusade against slavery. Which is good, but consequential. In response, the Republic is preparing to send a fact-finding mission to learn more.

Which planet will be your permanent Capital? (Once you have constructed a fully functional temple, the High Council will move there; until then you will remain seated on Dantooine)

Planets already colonized:
-[] Coruscant
-[] Ossus
-[] Dantooine

Unlocated planets:
-[] Tython
-[] Ach-To

Do you prepare a fact finding mission for the Syncretic Cults?

Synod of Dantooine PT. 2 3944 BBY
[X] Dantooine
[X] Yes. Send an independent fact finding group. (+15 PP, submit a list of Jedi)
"Ossus would be nice, if we decide to finally put an end to the Hutts." Mira speaks up from the center of the small clique that surrounds her seat, where she scrawls the words of wisdom she needs at breakneck pace. "I'm just saying, maybe they deserve it?"

"Crusades are the Mandalorian option."

"But are the Mandalorians always wrong?"

"Yes." Atton speaks up from the small cloud of students he's trained over the past few years, most of them strapped with blasters. "How about Coruscant? It might be nice to live somewhere where people have heard of showers."

"Coming from you?" Mical speaks up. "Anyway, Dantooine is clearly the best option for us. The Mandalorians got as far as they did because the Jedi were so thin out on the Rim, and the Sith got as far as they did because the Republic is thin out here too. Clearly somebody needs to pick up the slack, and as we cannot control the Senate, as a show of good faith, I say it should be us."

"Two voices, echoing together, propagating as a chorus, a song, that moves as a beast, its tendons cut. One note that cannot be cut from the other, one voice that cannot be strained apart."

"Would just saying what you mean be too hard, Visas?"

If she had eyes, the Miralukan would roll them. Everyone, from the Initiates up, can feel that. "If we are stuck on the Republic's capital, we become tied to the Republic, not simply as oathbearers but as patsies. I do not care where we hail from, so long as it is not overly tied to them."

"Atris said," Brianna speaks, "That she always felt empty on Coruscant, and I am inclined to believe her. Ossus cannot be trusted, for everyone remembers that as a place of the Jedi and will burn it if they get the chance. What of Tython?"

"What of it?" Bastila speaks. "A few scraps of coordinates that may or may not lead to the planet is hardly a promising start."

"I say Dantooine." And then Juhani leans back, crosses her arms over her chest.

"Dantooine." And with that you seal the debate.

"Fine. So long as the matter is settled. Now then, as to the matter of the Fact finders..."

"Who the hell are we sending?"

"Atton!"

"What? Are we, or are we not, stretched thin? And did you all, or did you not, forget to actually say who you wanted to send on this boondogle?"

"Not in front of the Initiates."

"Furthermore I mentioned who I'd send."

"Oh for-- look, not right now. Right now, there is a matter of no slight importance. The Ossus facility is closing to reaching full capacity as a temple. Which means a whole Council. How were we planning on filling that?"

Two matters to vote on:

[] Write in WHO are you going to send on the fact finding mission. (Since you all forgot last time :V)

How are you going to create the Councils of temples?

[] The High Council will select the members themselves.

[] Jedi from those temples will choose the Councils for their worlds themselves.

Synod of Dantooine Pt. 3
Synod of Dantooine Pt.3

"I move that the local councils remain, as it was before the Shadow Wars, chosen by members of the High Council Dantooine." Your tone is positively stone as you speak. "I don't want a thousand Revans running around, giving credence to all sorts of mad ideas about the Force or the Order's position. Comments, questions from the rest of you."

"The Dragon devours what slays the hydra." Atton draws his hands up as you all give him a look, "what? It's a saying from a backwater I hid out on before the Peragus, don't look at me like that."

"Atton's right. Ew." Mira's thoughts.

"Whatever mistakes the Councils of old made, ensuring one Order was not among." Mical.

"I don't know, I have often asked myself whether it may not have helped keep the Jedi honest if someone of even theoretical equality to the High Council was about, having their own ideas." Juhani speaks now.

"Whatever we may gain through such independence, we will lose as the neuroses of the Lower Councils play out among themselves and among their Jedi." Bastila, then.

The rest are simple ayes, every Jedi on the Council outside of Juhani backing it.

"Very well. The matter passes."

(Gained +4 to Hundred Bonfires Infrastructure as the construction of the Order takes a more centralized approach)

"Now then, as to the matter of the fact finding debate..."

"I still say we should send-"

"I will ask, for volunteers." Your voice brooks no argument, cold and dark and raspy. "Since the rest of you apparently do not know how to disagree like adults."

Soon enough Juhani, Mical, 3 Sentinels, a Guardian, and a Consular are all getting ready to infiltrate Hutt space, which mostly means getting a dirty enough spacesuit and a blaster to use for light work.

After that, there are a few extraneous matters of administration to deal with; but soon enough, you are back to work, with the Synod ended.

Mission 1 (Grandmaster Bao-Dur, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Core)
-Grandmaster Bao-Dur-

The Yuuzhan Vong have apparently stumbled onto something strange. They are being reticent in describing what, or who, but have requested our help as it is, apparently, "a duty more suited for your talents." I can only hope they have not deceived me.

Mission 2 (1 Jedi Guardian, 1 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Padawans, The Mid-Rim)
-Knight Katra Hyl-

The world of Phorsa Gedd is having a problem in its factories. Laborers injured at an alarming rate, supply chain disruption, agitation among the lower classes. All there.

Unfortunately Master Juhani is not here to guide us; but we shall, nevertheless, press on.

Mission 3 (Councilor Mira, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Outer Rim)
-Padawan Volo Kal-

Money and power, power and money. It seems that is all anyone cares for anymore.

Take, for example, Galrand Vals. A Neimoidian, money disappears into the maw of his account and does not reappear in taxes, nor in trade, from his account. Such is bad enough the Lenders' Association has requested we look into the matter.

And so the Jedi, who are meant to protect the weak and the innocent, instead help the loansharks...

Mission 4 (Councilor Atton Rand, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 3 Padawans, The Colonies)

Councilor Atton Rand-

A slave auction. Yes, more of those, right under our noses. Almost makes you think maybe the Republic should try and have some sort of central agency dedicated only to this, am I right? Bad news, there's about a million of the bastards just waiting for us.

Good news: about 95% have a bounty of one sort or another.
--
Mission 5 (Councilor Visas Marr, Knight Atris, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 3 Padawans, the Expansion Regions)
-Knight Atris-

Yet more slavers. Feeding an auction in the Colonies that Master Atton is no doubt sniffing out as we speak. What he couldn't tell you is what the slavers are trading for, or from.

They are receiving various low grade sweeteners, in return for ravaging various archaic worlds and species, ranging from Neolithic hunter-gatherers to Imperial Era nation-states one thing is consistent: vast populations are being kidnapped and shipped to act as living currency for their drug. We have received a tip, however, on which world will be next attacked.

We will be ready for them.

Mission 1 (Grandmaster Bao-Dur, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Core)
-Grandmaster Bao-Dur-
Well. The Yuuzhan Vong weren't lying when they said this was more in our wheelhouse.

In neutral territory, on the far side of their space, they have discovered a world and species of more than a little interest: a universally Force-Sensitive band of Arkanianoids, who despite lacking advanced technology ply the stars on living behemoths that are naturally capable of breaking into hyperspace.

These Anurions are of a universally self-assured nature, sometimes leaking into arrogance, though always tempered by a keen sense of Compassion. Still, they are an independent lot.
--
Mission 2 (1 Jedi Guardian, 1 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Padawans, The Mid-Rim)
-Knight Katra Hyl-
I will be the first to admit, Tanagrian factories are a bit behind the galactic curve. But Kriff's sake, at least we didn't remove safety marks because they clashed with the aesthetic desire of the Diamond Brat who tossed us our capital! By the stars, this is madness they indulge in and they don't even realize it.

Somebody needs to put a stop to this, before anybody gets sent home in a body bag.
--
Mission 3 (Councilor Mira, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Outer Rim)
-Padawan Volo Kal-

Curiouser and curioser! No-one can even offer a consistent description of what he looks like. He's apparently short, gray, big-eyed as well as tall, blue, and with hunter eyes. Assuming, of course, that he is not actually a she, as some insist.

Now I may be an Outer Rim yokel, but I know Bantha pies when I see one. Something funky is happening here, and I will get to the bottom of it or my name isn't Volo.

Councilor Atton Rand-

Well. I've got an army of bad people, to give even worse people the thrashing of a life time. Let's see if Rand's still got it, unlike his arms, shall we?
--
Mission 5 (Councilor Visas Marr, Knight Atris, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 3 Padawans, the Expansion Regions)
-Knight Atris-

-Sounds of blaster fire, artillery shots, explosions and fighters overhead-

When we leave, and we will leave one day, the people of this world will need to defend themselves. So I am training them, as is the rest of the party. A dangerous decision, perhaps, but is it less dangerous, morally or practically, than allowing them to be threatened by slavers for the rest of their lives?
--
Mission 1 (Grandmaster Bao-Dur, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Core)
-Grandmaster Bao-Dur-

The Anurion respect wisdom, almost as much as they respect themselves.

But I can't help but shake the feeling there is something they're hiding from me. Something they are reticent about. Certainly they have been very unforthcoming about showing us their homeworld, which is fair enough, I haven't exactly carted any of their Savants to Coruscant. But I am afraid it represents a deep, deep rift between us that no shared love of the Force has, hitherto, managed to break.

Mission 2 (1 Jedi Guardian, 1 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Padawans, The Mid-Rim)
-Knight Katra Hyl-

Well.

I did not expect to accidentally precipitate a revolution, but I won't apologize, particularly since they won. Lonmus, the slimeball in charge of the factory, is currently awaiting extradition to a very secure prison while the People's Power Party seems set to sweep into parliament on a tide of nothing short of reasonably peaceful revolution, if one only carried out through the threat of force. It seems the rich decided losing their things was a better bet than losing their lives.

Better yet, they have requested we deploy Sentinels on a semi-permanent basis, to help ensure the plucking out of corruption by the roots.

All in a day's work for the Jedi.

Mission 3 (Councilor Mira, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Consular, 3 Padawans, The Outer Rim)

He is a they. Galrand Vals is not a single person, but a team of people, essentially working to bilk venture capitalists out of their ill-gotten gains to redirect their credits to the poor and needy; outside of Republic jurisdiction at that.

I have offered several suggestions to the Lender's Association and to Galrand as well. In return for not revealing the embarrassing truth, they have been allowed to enter politics on a platform of sweeping wealth redistribution, unionization, and free and fair elections. They seem poised to win.

Mission 4 (Councilor Atton Rand, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 3 Padawans, The Colonies)
-
Councilor Atton Rand-

Shock and awe: a bunch of bullies who mostly threaten people who can't fight back lost their shit when they were staring down the hilt of a lightsaber. They raced at us, and we beat them; their victims, as much as we are able, will be returned to their homeworlds.

CLASSIFIED 1AUREK

And for the record? I say the Hutt deserved everything he got and more.
--
Mission 5 (Councilor Visas Marr, Knight Atris, 1 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 3 Padawans, the Expansion Regions)
-Knight Atris-

With Atton's victory over their buyers, the slaver mercenaries were quick to retreat, particularly after we presented the disciplined, united front to them.
--
Atris pauses. She thinks.

And then she begins to speak:
"We introduced interstellar war to a people unused to it. We slaughtered in the name of a would-be god-king. We have been the party of executions, reprisals, and crimes.

But I can live with it. I. I can live with that. I lived with inaction, and now I live with action.

Delete last section."

  • Request a Letter of Marque, authorizing the Jedi Order to own and operate military grade ships. (150 PP)
  • Send a Liason to Ithorian Technical Institute (20 PP, 4 Knowledge a Turn)
  • As the Republic's borders have expanded, it has found itself contacting new worlds, new life and new civilizations. Initiate Jalzaz is of highly limited help at the current moment. A part of the High Zeal religious current, despite coming from the same Kattaranian religious movement on the homeworld in the broadest sense he finds many of the chapels we are attempting to excavate from the Northern continent offensive to his sensibilities; while he is putting on a great front and a good effort to be objective, and is certainly no fan of the Pius Dea crusaders who cleansed the area, the fact remains he is not putting forward a comparable effort to the rest of the team.

Deciding that you would prefer not to deal with, say, discovering that the Jal Shey have decided to set up camp on the planet for ease of access, you finally have your colony ships touch down on the world. The old CCV proves very helpful, as you'd sort of expect: a detachable, inverted bowl, it allows you to establish a cheap and easy colony center outside of which you can easily expand. Work progresses apace, with a new group of initiates being taken to be trained there: old soldiers, mostly, hoping to recover outside of the core of galactic society, in a place of peace and comfort.

(Tojora Enclave established!) (0/300 Progress to Praxeum)

(6/100 Jedi, 1 Jedi Guardian, 5 Jedi Initiates)

-Send a Liason to Ithorian Technical Institute (20 PP, 4 Knowledge a Turn)

There are a number of Jedi artifacts, particularly old treaties and treatises, safely ensconced within Ithor, in hidden vaults protected by their government. In return for helping them perform various, otherwise impossible experiments, the Technical Institute is both willing and able to toss their hat into the ring to get a few of your Jedi access, mostly the Consulars.

Sorry about that. Bad writer's block led to procrastination led to "oh shit it's been two months." I would expect this not to happen again, seriously if it's been more than like a week feel free to yell at me.
