There is no emotion... (A Jedi Order Quest)

And if he had bothered to actually study the history of the Jedi, he would have known that being in the Council as a Knight had happened multiple times before.
I'm sceptical of this. I haven't heard of this happening and given that the film doesn't have anyone try to contradict Anakin on that matter, I'm inclined to assume that he was correct. If there had previously been knights on the High Council, surely one of the High Council would have corrected Anakin instead of leaving him under the assumption he was being deliberately snubbed.

[X] Chastise Kador, but still make him a Master. Though his deeds were meritorious and certainly not worth complaint, there are parts of his methodology you must question.

On the one hand, not a soul of that scum died. In an impressive display of connection to the Force, the two managed to keep an entire building in stasis, surrounded by incriminating evidence of the most unimpeachable kind. This is very impressive.

On the other hand, Kador has admitted both that he broke into the most classified portions of your archive to study at the feet of Kreia's holocron; and directly usurped Atris' authority in the matter of Iolete's education, something she is very unhappy about.

His actions against the slaver group is commendable. On the other hand he did some things that is definitely iffy. So I feel that his feat and self-control is worthy of becoming a master, but on the other hand he studied a holocron from a section of the archives he wasn't supposed to enter, and took over the education of someone else's Padawan. Which could definitely be mentioned, but I don't think it is quite enough to shoot down the promotion.

There have been few, only one I think that has been named was Ki-Adi-Mundi. He was elevated to the position of Council member when he was still a knight and achieved rank of Master less than a year later.

Why that wasn't mentioned in the movie I don't know in-universe, but out-of-universe it was probably because Lucas didn't know about it.

[X] Praise him. Kador saved the innocent, and did not slay a single soul in the deed. Yes, there are matters to quibble about but you are not the Council of the Mandalorians Wars-- you will not die if your authority is questioned.

[X] Chastise Kador, and do not make him a Master. Breaking into the Archives? Usurping authority? Seeking vengeance, even for the sake of another? A Jedi does not do these things.

So a note to thread (Beyond that I am working on the update, promise): Student loans exist, and I need money to pay them.

Meaning I will either need to find a new job (the last one having ended for various reasons) or work on writing I can actually sell. So if I don't post for awhile, that's probably why.

Front page is now finally up to date. Next mission report hopefully up soon.

Mission Report 3942 Q2 BBY
Mission Report 3942 Q2 BBY

Mission 1 (The Core, Councilor Mira, 2 Jedi Consulars, 2 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 6 Padawans)
-Guardian Breda Sunguard-

What the hell was Kador thinking? Was he thinking?

Ulgh.

In any case, the CorSec has asked us for help with a somewhat sensitive matter. Surplus materiel from the collapsed Sith Empire has begun making its way to Coruscant and the lower levels. While the Senate has been working to improve conditions, there are plenty who want things to remain awful so they have a cheap, easy, disposable source of labor for licit and illicit business. So they have requested we help put pressure on the dealers, which mostly just means showing up-- they might be stupid enough to try and do this in the galactic capital, but they aren't stupid enough to fight a Jedi when we find them.

Mission 2 (The Inner Rim, Bao-Dur, 3 Jedi Consulars, 4 Jedi Sentinels, 3 Jedi Guardians, 8 Padawans)
-Consular Zez Kyrido-

What the hell was the Council thinking? What, did they decide the Fool's Council's real mistake wasn't politicking and finger wagging enough?

Errrgh.

I digress. We have a situation on Asrat (small planet, surprisingly populated). A local band of "Free Men", anti-government far right conspiracy theorists who hold insane theories on topics as diverse as jurisprudence to race relations, have infiltrated and occupied the headquarters of a Provincial government in response to moves that I have taken the liberty to attach to my report. Which is bad.

What is worse is they have attached bombs to various aquariums within the nearby Aquaponics facility. As that's a source of food for many on the planet, particularly the lower and actually-working classes, its destruction cannot be allowed. So while negotiators and security forces have tried to distract them, we are currently working to disarm or at least move the bombs somewhere less important.

Mission 3 (The Mid-Rim, Consular Atris, 2 Jedi Sentinels, 1 Jedi Master Watchman, 5 Jedi Guardians, 8 Padawans)
-Padawan Iolete Shirote-

I think I am going to demonstrate one of the few virtues my father ever taught me and keep my mouth firmly shut on recent events.

I will not, however, be keeping my mouth shut in saying I sure do wish Kador and Atris would stop glaring at each other when they think I'm not paying attention. Particularly when we're all supposed to be looking for an old Sith cache. Might not be quite the time to be having their spat.

Mission 4 (The Outer Rim, Councilor Atton Rand, 3 Jedi Consulars, 5 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Councilor Rand-

The Drakion have proven interested in having Jedi help in examining what can only be described as a friendly Sith Temple. Yes it's still all sharp angles and sandstone and ziggurats rising into the sky, but it's a lot more aesthetic and a lot less attempt at psychological warfare.

Helps that the smell of blood doesn't permeate the air.

Mission 5 (The Colonies, Councilor Visas Marr, 1 Jedi Consular, 6 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Consular Gonan-

We have stumbled onto a situation of no small import: solar flares menacing a society whose most advanced technology is the steam engine. While the General Order suggests that we should not make contact, if necessary I and the rest of the patrol are willing to make contact with the help of local Republic forces to evacuate the planet before things can get any worse. Before we try that, however, we will attempt to tow various, large, asteroids into positions to catch the bursts before they can hit the planet using the Andrados.

It's going to take a lot of Asteroids and, even worse, math, but we think it will work.

Mission 6 (The Expansion Region, Councilor Bastila Shan, 2 Jedi Consulars, 6 Jedi Sentinels, 6 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Councilor Bastila Shan-

A minor disturbance has erupted on the world of Ntoch, involving Dark Side enclaves of ancient cults erupting with fell power.

We are moving to investigate immediately.

Mission 7 (Councilor Juhani, Councilor Mical, 3 Sentinels, 1 Guardian, and 1 Consular)
-Yuthura Ban-

The Jedi are currently acting as a security measure. Hopefully, no-one tries anything.

Mission 1 (The Core, Councilor Mira, 2 Jedi Consulars, 2 Jedi Sentinel, 1 Jedi Guardian, 6 Padawans)
-Guardian Breda Sunguard-

Those dirty, no good rancor humping Sith loving--

We do the dirty work and the Security Forces get to look like champions while we're stuck holding the bag!
-FAILURE, -5 PP-

Mission 2 (The Inner Rim, Bao-Dur, 3 Jedi Consulars, 4 Jedi Sentinels, 3 Jedi Guardians, 8 Padawans)
-Consular Zez Kyrido-

Alright so, good news, we have half the bombs either disarmed or, since we were feeling a bit cheeky, stuck inside the modified garbage hauler they were using like a hover tank.

Bad news is, negotiations have broken down and they are no longer distracted. Meaning they're on the way here. Master Bao-Dur is trying to rig a power conduit to stun instead of kill, but we're going to be hard pressed I think.

Mission 3 (The Mid-Rim, Consular Atris, 2 Jedi Sentinels, 1 Jedi Master Watchman, 5 Jedi Guardians, 8 Padawans)
-Padawan Iolete Shirote-

Rather than risk something stupid happening, we have elected to return, and not unsafely, to the ship. We don't need to be putting ourselves right next to Dark Side nonsense when our tempers are this high; that's how tragedies are born. Republic specialists have been dispatched to find it instead.

Or maybe there is-- looks like a distress call!

Mission 4 (The Outer Rim, Councilor Atton Rand, 3 Jedi Consulars, 5 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Councilor Rand-

It's interesting, sure, but I'm not really getting it, you know?
-Failure, -5 PP-

Mission 5 (The Colonies, Councilor Visas Marr, 1 Jedi Consular, 6 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Consular Gonan-

The plan seems to be working. The solar bursts are being stopped by the Asteroids such that the effect is only, at worst, a daytime temperature increase of .5 Degrees classical. Just need to be sure we don't leave anything to go wrong.

Mission 6 (The Expansion Region, Councilor Bastila Shan, 2 Jedi Consulars, 6 Jedi Sentinels, 6 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Councilor Bastila Shan-

We have arrived, and simply our presence seems to have brought some amount of stability to the region. But we do still need to enter and confront the Temple; while the people have calmed down, a giant, slightly growing lightning storm in the center of farm land is not what you would call of the good.

Mission 7 (Councilor Juhani, Councilor Mical, 3 Sentinels, 1 Guardian, and 1 Consular)
-Yuthura Ban-

If anybody tried anything, the Jedi handled it very well. I was unaware as I deliver my remarks.

-+25 PP, Yuthura Ban delivers remarks to the Republic Senate-

Mission 2 (The Inner Rim, Bao-Dur, 3 Jedi Consulars, 4 Jedi Sentinels, 3 Jedi Guardians, 8 Padawans)
-Consular Zez Kyrido-

It worked. I don't envy their headaches, but the worst long term result should be a marked aversion to attempted coups.
(+15 PP)

Mission 3 (The Mid-Rim, Consular Atris, 2 Jedi Sentinels, 1 Jedi Master Watchman, 5 Jedi Guardians, 8 Padawans)
-Padawan Iolete Shirote-

We have saved the crew. Kador and Master Atris are still mad at each other, of course, but at least they are no longer glaring at each other. Shed sweat and shed blood bind well, it seems.
(+10 PP)

Mission 5 (The Colonies, Councilor Visas Marr, 1 Jedi Consular, 6 Jedi Sentinels, 2 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Consular Gonan-

Welp, we have left without a trace and a very safe planet. And because we were thinking about it, we have left documentation the people Anbraxis 333 can refer to if they want to know what happened that time the sun grew then dimmed.
(+25 PP, +5 Knowledge)

Mission 6 (The Expansion Region, Councilor Bastila Shan, 2 Jedi Consulars, 6 Jedi Sentinels, 6 Jedi Guardians, 6 Padawans)
-Councilor Bastila Shan-

A giant holocron from the Legion of Lettow was activated and had the said results. We have destroyed it, on account of its danger; but we have also reclaimed something important.

A holocron of Master Vandar Tokare.
(+10 PP, Gain Holocron of Master Tokare)

Not a surprise that Kador's actions and "punishment" have raised strong opinions in others. And it showed, so many failures this turn.
Surplus materiel from the collapsed Sith Empire has begun making its way to Coruscent and the lower levels.
Coruscant.

You say that now...

Idiots like that exist everywhere.

Not living in a Sith Empire or on a planet that's strong in the Dark side also helps.

Phew, they succeeded. and with great boons.

A great find, but what the hell was it doing there?

I'm going to give the same answer Tolkien gave when people asked him what was up with Shelob:

"I don't fuckin' know but it's messed up, ain't it?"

Research Turn Q2 3942 BBY
Research Q2 3942 BBY

It is once again time for you to decide how your knowledge is to be turned to productive progress. Now that you have have finally decided on a method to develop future facilities, there are more than a few matters of interest to you.

77 Knowledge/5->15 Points of Progress, 2 Knowledge left over

Tier 1

Training Doctrines- The methods by which you train new Jedi-- how and to what purpose. (Mutually exclusive)
Many Students, One Teacher (0/5)- There aren't enough of you for you to teach only one student each. For the moment, at least, you need to be training multiples. (Bonus to recruitment Quantity)

Infrastructure- While grabbing abandoned temples is always going to be a good plan, there are other questions to consider.
A Thousand Sparks (0/10)- You will expand far and wide. (Expands to more planets, colonies, and polities)

Tier 3
One Student, One Teacher (Tier 3)
Back Roads: Often what keeps Jedi from reacting to crises is not being near enough. Having your masters pass on the secret, unknown hyperspace routes, reststops, and shortcuts to your Padawans; and for that matter, among yourselves, will help. (+1 Vigilance) (0/20)
Let's Just Be Friends: The Jedi are sworn to the Republic; but you are not sworn to be its butchers. Make sure that is very clear to your students . (-1 Detachement for not getting involved in Republic's Wars) (5/20)

Combat (Tier 3)
The Weapon of the Enemy: A crummy blaster and bad attitude are no match for the Force at your side, Padawan. (+1 to checks against ranged enemies) (10/20)
Force Combat III: Weird, Force based esoterica to allow your students to stand toe-to-toe with the mainline Sith Warriors. (Consulars may use Wisdom check against Dark Knights and Sith Apprentices) (0/20)
Adaptive and Fast on Their Feet: Your Sentinels might not be quite as blade adept as the Guardians, but they make up for that with a wider skillset. (Sentinels may use Skill instead of Combat against Mundane opponents) (0/20)

A Hundred Bonfires (Tier 3)
Bigger Dormitories: Converted starship quarters are nice and all, but something a bit more substantive would probably manage to hold the Order in finer standing; certainly it would allow you to house more people. (Increase population that can be held in all facilities by a quarter) (0/20)
Meetra's Notes: Long before she was a general, a warrior, an Exile, Meetra Surik was a Jedi Recruiter, looking for new members of the Order. Her work is a solid foundation, certainly better than your ad hoc attempts to gather together new Jedi. (Double recruitment dice from 1d5 to 1d10.) (0/20)
Defense Systems: You can't, won't, and shouldn't turn your Temples into Fortresses, no matter what certain people claim. But shields? Those are a different story. (All facilities gain shields) (0/20)
Basic Archives: While a complete archive is both impossible and impractical to replicate at each and every temple, you sure could stick a whole lot of the basics somewhere at each. Beyond the security this offers, you might of course also gain some knowledge by spreading it far and wide. (Duplicates a whole bunch of basic Jedi Stuff at each Temple/Facility, +5 Knowledge per completed Temple) (0/20)

Choose one holocron to study:
Holocrons You Have Obtained:
-Holocron of Arren Kae
-Holocron of Karn Degarr
-Holocron of Homonix Rectonia
-Holocron of Vodo-Siosk Baas
-Holocron of Odan-Urr
-Holocron of Sar Agorn
-Holocron of the Unknown Jedi
-Holocron of Garon Jard
-Holocron of Vandare Tokare

Not much points to use. We should finish The Weapon of the Enemy first and either let the remaining five be for the next turn, or put them ready in the Basic Archives.

Missing how many points it requires.

I actually suggest we dump our points into Let's Just Be Friends, because the longer we go without that the more likely we are to get stuck into a bad situation.

I agree we don't have enough points really to complete multiple upgrades so let's just dump them all into Let's just be Friends and call it a day.

Can we even buy any of the tier one researches, I thought we locked ourselves out by going the other way earlier?
