So next turn I was hoping we could make a new Grenadier unit. A lesser version of the Governors Own whose one task is to escort and guard Generals and in some cases take up the sword for a charge when needed when the General decides they need a motivated charge but can't make it themselves.

I imagine it's a fall back place for those who don't quite have the skills to be a Governors Own.

We have that already. That is the unit champions.

Officers already have command squads/platoons/etc. The higher the rank the more well equipped and elite their personal unit. As the head of the military Fred gets the larges, best equipped and most skilled unit.
The Governors Own aren't special, they are just the top of the pyramid.

Well they are kinda special, being super veterans equiped to the gills with elite PA, Landraiders and Plasma foils ect.

But yea, and even then htey'd have champions for the charges, in fact that's exactly why we set up the champions (well one of the reasons)

...That line is coming across as pretty much saying that we shouldn't make any attempt at all to save Lin. I mean if someone had condition that could potentially be helped with an experimental procedure I think it would be really messed up if someone said that they shouldn't even bother and just let them die. And no I am not saying we should force anything on him, just that even if Lin seems like he is beyond saving that it couldn't hurt to at least still try to think up ways to save him and then tell him about it. But in the end it's pretty much his choice and we aren't going to pressure him about taking any possibility since it's his choice. If in the end he is fine with dying then that's his choice.
A very odd take on what I said. No idea why respecting someone's dignity means ignoring them when they ask for help, bit of a messed up viewpoint there imo.

I now this matter is extreme important, but unless he is killed he will probably live for decades yes? this kind of stuff is things that we talk with our friends with years and not decades (well he is a saint, so I can be wrong), hell we can try do 'spend time with' (after this part of the war) other than talk of his death (that in avernus is more comum that not), maybe we do that and spend time with the 'kid' of Jane (giving more time and a reason to both expend more time with kids, which is good to both).

Now talking about silly stuff (if too silly, I remove this post).

I wish that we could do stuff like a competition of 'who kill more orks' with everyone in this sector.
'Avernus': kill ratio 1: 1000, billions killed
' the rest of the progressive': 'Our ways are better that the tradition ways!!' 1:800, billions killed.
'Traditionalists': "we 'kill' more ships than you!! 1:750, more ships destroyed. kill billions of orks
Necros: Don't make me go there *burn a planet with orcs* return to plot how to kill bugs.
'?Eldars?: Plan to do nothing (except using paws), kill thousands of orks
Chaos: 'Burn the heretic. Kill the mutant. Purge the unclean' (wait what!!!), kill billions of orks
other Chaos: 'Maim, kill, burn!', kill billions of orks.
Xenos: trying hard not be killed, ?kill orks?
SM from trust competition: 'I killed a chief with bare hands', kill billions of orks.
Other SM: Ha 'I have eat one', kill billions of orks (why the emperor would give them acid spits if he didn't want them to used it?).

'Hahaha', Orks: kill trillions of...other orks???? 'no one stomp ork, like a ork'

Well Saint Lin will age 1 year for every 3.5. So every turn he ages about 1 and half years. Give or take. Right now he is 62 age wise so he can live for another 10 turns easily. But the older he gets the more frail he will get.

There are records of humans living to be a hundred or more without any juvent so Saint Lin will at least be around for a while. Till Chaos units and send s a black crusade to kill him.

Peril and Parenthood

It was rare for Gerald Xavier to feel fear for himself. A rarity on Avernus, to be sure, but it was not unwarranted. His raw combat abilities alone were sufficient to keep him safe from harm in all but the most desperate of situations, and his top tier stealth skills allowed him to easily escape even those. When the psychic power and skill he possessed was factored in, it was not an exaggeration to say he could face entire armies and emerge victorious, a claim very few could make even in extremely contrived circumstances. Combine this with a preternatural sense for danger and a loyal and very deadly phase tiger familiar and there was very little he was likely to face that stood a real chance of doing him harm so long as he didn't get sloppy. And well over a century of life on Avernus did amazing things for reducing one's tendencies towards sloppiness, by attrition if nothing else.

But he was certainly feeling fear now. He could all but feel the noose tightening around him as potential escape routes had been cut off one by one, and there was no hiding the power of the one coming for him—not from either his instincts honed to a razor's edge nor his more mystical senses. Still, it was too late to run and even with his impressive skills there was nowhere he could hide, so he could do nothing but prepare to face the coming storm with all he could muster.

Ophelia was distinctly unimpressed with the resigned expression on Gerald's face upon her entry into the Medicae where he was currently housed after the preliminary treatment for his injury. It entirely vindicated the lengths she had gone to to get him pinned down for this little talk, as she was sure that if she had left one avenue of escape uncovered he'd be in the wind. While it was heartening that he was feeling well enough to seriously contemplate fleeing, she really did not want to need to go to that much effort to keep him from risking exacerbating his injuries.

Fortunately she had allies to help her on that front, as there was very little in the Trust that could keep Gerald Xavier where he didn't want to be even in his injured state. A quick word with Rotbart, his help in securing Odysseus' cooperation, extracting a few promises from Zhukov, and, most importantly, a sizable bribe for Mittens has been just the beginning of what she'd needed to get Gerald on enforced bedrest with no official distractions and no opportunities for escape. It was a good thing that they all agreed that his health and wellness was important enough to risk annoying him, as his pranks could be legendary and only Rotbart was truly exempt.

"So. I heard through the grapevine that you were injured in your latest mission. Would you care to enlighten me about the circumstances?"

Naturally, Gerald was too smart to try to bullshit his way out, as she had made a point of reading up on the mission before she decided exactly how worried/exacerbated she would be. Gerald had been traveling with an assault team on a supply train shortly after breaking a series of fortresses that were bottlenecking the troop progress across a mountain range separating two subcontinents. The team had been exhausted but in good spirits before news that a sizable horde with its warboss had broken containment and had gotten into the rear lines due to an undiscovered tunnel. Unfortunately, said horde was on track to intercept them in the next hour and support was at least two hours away.

As expected Xavier had taken offense at the idea of either abandoning the supply train or allowing a horde of Orks to run rampant in land that was already in the process of being built up by the Trust and had decided to handle it the way he did best: absolute destruction of the offending parties. The sheer degree of power summoned to definitively put down the Orks was spectacular enough to warrant the unofficially renaming of the affected area as 'the glasslands', but it came at the cost of distracting him enough that one of the semi-feral Orks in the area managed to get a lucky shot on him.

Unfortunately, said explanation was entirely insufficient to mollify her wrath. He hadn't expected it to, really. Fortunately for his dignity there was nobody nearby to hear her hour long diatribe about how there were "numerous tactical solutions available that didn't involve him using deep casting in line of sight of any two-bit Ork that wanders up looking for a fight", or how "if he wanted those blasted Orks burned he should have just contacted her, as he knew full well that she was fifteen minutes away by dropship and that her current assignment was just promoting infighting to further soften up a cluster of fortresses under siege' as it was "about as strategically important as having the light infantry plinking away at any Orks too dumb to keep their heads down". Plus his personal favorite, that he "knew damn well that he was a strategic asset for the entire Trust and had no business risking his life so cavalierly as he himself had given her the whole speech on being both an individual and a strategic asset."

And, well, even if there had been people nearby, his dignity was an acceptable casualty. That was one of the known perils of having a child after all. She was doing this because she loved him and was worried that he could have died. She was just one more reason why the Imperial Trust was worth fighting for. Still, he hoped that Tamia was more forgiving during his mandatory medical recuperation period. Sure, in hindsight the way he had chosen to handle that group of Orks could have been better, but it wasn't like his actions had been truly reckless. That had to count for something, right?

No competition from anyone the whole time...I fear this may be a trend. I like Enjou's tenacity and his avatar pic but maybe things are becomming too complicated when it comes to making plans?

Sorry if this has been brought out before but I myself am just lost when making plans.

EDIT: This is a suggestion.

what makes it to complicated?

what makes it to complicated?
Eh I think most people get confused by the Expidites and double downs and balancing year slots.

I find plan making hard, but that's because I'm simply not good at juggling and remembering where things go in conjunction to one another, but that's just a thing I have, not a problem with the style itself.

Then again that's just me.

I could probably do a plan, but I tend not too, because my plan making skills simply are not all that good.

what makes it to complicated?

Complicated was the wrong word for it. We have here 2 options that will tick for 3 years but I find it hard to know if the options ongoing require those units of options or if they just tick over by themselves. An from there multiply that question to like every tab and you'll see where i'm at in the forum.

I usually just vote for things that seem like a good idea or annoy a plan maker to change a few things around because the reward is better (as according to me in that time frame

One Locked Choose Two
Two Three years

Helltrooper Power Infantry: Infantry- General Richards has put forward a plan to equip your Helltrooper Infantry with power armour. This will greatly increase their combat power and life expectancy at a surprisingly affordable price. You are advised to begin this project immediately, and told that General Richards is working on plans to begin similar upgrades for the rest of your Helltrooper Regiments.

You are advised to begin this project immediately, and told that General Richards is working on plans to begin similar upgrades for the rest of your Helltrooper Regiments.

Time: 6 years

Helguard Void Infantry- General Richards has put forward a plan to train two divisions of Helguard Void Infantry, which would be equipped with Power Amour and more advanced weapons. This force would be far more deadly then your current Void Infantry and be able to defeat almost any foes in a boarding action. It would however be expensive and take quite some time to train.

Time: 9 years

Reward: train 200 Helguard Void Infantry Regiments

Locked- Four out of Ten years completed

Helltrooper Jetbikes-. Now that the Helguard Jetbike Regiments have proven themselves General Richards would like to replace your Helltrooper Rough Riders, which have limited utility with Helltrooper Jetbike Regiments. While this will take some time and be expensive General Richards thinks that it is more then worth the price, and counts it as part of the upgrading of your Helltroopers to use Basic Power Armour.

Time: 7 years

Cost: 126,000,000, 12,800,000 Material, 526,000 Promethium, 3,970,000 Advanced Material, 1,264 Exotic Material.

Helltrooper Power Infantry: Armour and Air- General Richards has put forward a plan to equip your Helltrooper armour and air units with Pilot Basic Power Armour. This will provide a notable increase to your crews survival rates and combat capacity, while being only a fraction of the cost of the other power armour refits.

Time: 4 years

Cost: 22,400,000 Thrones, 4,490,000 Material, 449,000 Promethium, 44,900 Advanced Material.

Reward: equip all air regiments, armour regiments and specialist armour regiments with pilot power armour

Campaign: Army- The current campaign is now going to shift to attack on the to main Ork doamins, with the Avernite Army spearheading the assault on what was recently Kazag's Domain. General Richards will take the opportunity of changing theatres to reorganise her forces and move the more battered units back to Avernus.

Time: 15 years (if personal attention is used then only other Personal Attention that can be chosen is Campaign: Fleet)

Cost: 2,400,000,000 Thrones, 1,200,000,000 Material, 100,000,000 Promethium. 158,000 Advanced Material, 1,780 Exotic material.
Reward: army assists Imperial Trust in taking and holding new worlds, must be selected

Helltrooper Power Mechanised Infantry: Mechanised Infantry- General Richards has put forward a plan to equip your Helltrooper Mechanised Infantry with power armour. This will greatly increase their combat power and life expectancy at a surprisingly affordable price. You are advised to begin this project immediately, and told that General Richards is working on plans to begin similar upgrades for the rest of your Helltrooper Regiments.

Time: 6 years

Cost: 332,000,000 Thrones, 26,800,000 Material, 1,140,000 Promethium, 7,120,000 Advanced Material, 4,760 Exotic Material.

Reward: upgrade 249 Helltrooper Mechanised Infantry Regiments to Helltrooper Power Mechanised Infantry Regiments.

Thundabeast Riders : Planning- In recent years the number of Thundabeasts in the pens in Elysium has reached a high enough number that training some of them for war and creating specialised Thundabeast Riders is practical. To begin with Maximal, Schwarz and a collection of rough riders and armour experts will have to determine how to best go about this. It is noted that while a hundred thousand Thundabeasts is a lot if they are eing deployed on the regimental scale you will have to further increase numbers.
Time: 8 years

Cost: 390,000,000 Thrones, 78,000,000 Material, 7,900,000 Promethium, 850,000 Advanced Material, 950 Exotic Material.
Reward: Force Composition for Thundabeast Riders

Implement (Technology): Planning- General Schwarz has already implemented the most important technologies found in the datacores but there is still many types that remain unused. He could spend a few years deciding how to best use a selected technology.

Time: 2 years

Cost: 39,000,000 Thrones, 7,800,000 Material, 790,000 Promethium, 85,000 Advanced Material, 95 Exotic Material.
Reward: Plan on how to implement chosen technology

Readiness Training- General Drago suggests putting his troops though combat readiness training in order to ensure that they are fully prepared if another invasion occurs. While effective this training will not have any long term effects and will need to be redone every decade. General Drago does not consider this to be urgent.

Time: 1 year.
Chance of Success: 60% (each success reduces chance of success by 5%, this recovers at a rate of one per two years)

Cost: 12,200,000 Thrones, 1,220,000 Material, 122,000 Promethium, 167 Advanced Material
Reward: +5 to all combat rolls for regular forces the next decade, can be taken multiple times

Militia Readiness Training- General Schwarz suggests putting the militia though combat readiness training in order to ensure that they are fully prepared for the incoming invasion. This would potentially provide a massive boost to your total combat power but given that you want to avoid using the militia in combat as much as possible how much effect thi will actually have is unknown.

Time: 1 year.
Chance of Success: 60% (each success reduces chance of success by 5%, this recovers at a rate of one per two years)

Cost: 880,000,000 Thrones, 88,000,000 Material, 8,800,000 Promethium, 8,500 Advanced Material
Reward: +5 to all combat rolls for militia the next decade, can be taken multiple times, -1% city productivity per attempt (for the turn)

Specialist Grenadiers (Write In): Planning- Now that you have the Elite Training Facilities General Drago would like to create elite, specialist units that take advantage of the unique skills that each region of Avernus instils in its soldiers. General Drago does not consider this to be urgent.

Time: 1 year.
Chance of Success: Variable

Cost: 7,200,000 Thrones, 14,400 Material, 1,440 Promethium, 860 Advanced Material.
Reward: Get Composition of Chosen Elite Unit. Put forward a write-in of a unit type and I will tell you if it it viable and how easy it will be (good omake will make it easier).

Currently Admiral Sarnow is busy preparing the Avernite Navy for the next stage of the current campaign. However he still has the capacity to direct projects on Avernus, where he advises that you start further strengthening Avernus' orbital defences, or possibly to focus on strengthening the defences over Deiphobe. There is also the choice between reparinign the damage that your fleet has suffered in recent years or adding new ships, possibly the stealth task force he has proposed.

Admiral Sarnow gains trait Hidden Dragon (+3I, halve penalties from ship size and type in ambushes)-Admiral Sarnow has shown a uncanny ability to make use of even the largest and clumsiest of warships for ambushes, once even pulling off an ambush with the Einherjar Class Command Battleship Fólkvangr.

EDIT: Alex Pears basically sums up what I can't. if the above is stupid.

EDIT 2: @Durin

I'm not trying to be a dick btw. I was just trying to point out a possibility not saying how it is.

Yeah it these is actually one of the middle complicated quests I follow. But I like complicated plans. I mean I do not have to keep spreadsheets, and my on personal record.
