-How will bonding with the common people of Avernus help Syr?
I bet it translates into lower amounts of cults and perhaps some bonuses to leading a particular type of solider.

-Is the increase in piety and combat stats worth the temporary increase in chance of death?
Again lowers the amount of cults and prevents her death in the long run.
-Do the benefits of Boot Camp outweigh getting the maximum results out of the Officer Academy?
Eh? Maybe? I'm not sure.

I am so indecisive, having second thoughts again.

Questions for you all:
-How will bonding with the common people of Avernus help Syr?
-Is the increase in piety and combat stats worth the temporary increase in chance of death?
-Do the benefits of Boot Camp outweigh getting the maximum results out of the Officer Academy?

@durin: The traits that we can get from the tertiary education routes, can we achieve all of them given enough dedicated Personal Action slots & circumstances, a la Frederick's Naval Command trait (removable malus)?

Given that the Planetary Governors fulfill the same role that the High Lords once did the execution for treason is not a problem, the reason is that you have the skills and experience to deal with psykers and no one else does
also if the psyker numbers grow high enough there ill be a push to give Ridcully a High Council seat and independence
My gut says "awesome, dude deserves recognition".
Is there some negative here that I am not seeing?

So whats the difference between sorcery and Pysker powers?
Sorcery is magic items anyone can use, Psyker powers are spells.
More like, Psyker powers are abilities innate to the psyker. Sorcery is the learned science of how to manipulate warp energy, whether through rituals, symbology, or technology. Technically stuff like Warp engines and Vortex grenades are sorcery, though they don't call them that.

The difference between a psyker and a sorcerer in Warhammer is the same as that between a sorcerer and a wizard in D&D. Psykers do it by instinct, Sorcerers learn to do it through study. Many sorcerers can fake psychic powers pretty well even if they aren't psykers, though there's usually a steep cost.
Of course, warding is probably a form of sorcery but isn't labeled as such because A) it doesn't affect the Materium so much as prevents Warp affects from affecting whatever is warded and B) it's too useful to do away with so they use a different label.

My guess is that should the runes that Sirens use be found to be safe and Chaos free then the art will get a nice PR friendly label to separate it from sorcery so that it can be authorized for use. Probably something like Runecrafting.
Not necessarily. The problem with sorcery is that it's knowledge, and can thus be used to infer other, less benign, things. For example the Pentagrammatic ward, which the Grey Knights use to banish Daemons, is basically an inverted Daemon Summoning circle.

It's limited to only Grey Knights because any more corruptible individuals would be able to re-invert it if they fell to Chaos, turning the first signs of Corruption from "mild mutation" to "Daemons Everywhere". So the rest of the Imperium has to make do with the much less effective Hexagrammatic ward.
There is also Santic sorcery which is used by the Grey Knight, it mostly focuses on banishing Daemons so it is still associated with Chaos.
Not all of it though. There's one neat Sanctic spell that can be used to teleport to any planet the caster has been to before.

[X] Avernus Officers Academy

Haven't read any of the discussion, so I'm voting to send our future leader to leader school. Plus, she wants to.

In more detail, I prefer that she shapes up into someone comfortable with co-ordinating massive military actions from the backlines, rather than someone who yearns to lead the charge herself. Possibly an exaggeration of its impact, but boot camp is for people meant to go into the grinder.

[X] Boot Camp

...I'm gonna get so much shit if my first post on this thread (and this forum) gets the governor's only daughter killed aren't I?
Welcome to the forum, and to this thread in particular! Don't worry, you'd only get tar'd and feathered in broad strokes, with anyone else who voted with you (which would have to be the majority by definition, so...)

Plus, according to my brief read of the previous two pages, it may be a moot point anyway, barring a sudden massive shift in votes. The Officers Academy had over 20 votes at last count.

Of course, It's hardly unheard of for votes to swing back hard if enough people can be encouraged to jump ship, so it isn't guaranteed quite yet. So, vote how you want, and don't make any bets!

Why are so many people now voting for boot camp?
I think that it's either:

a) After putting some thought into it, they were persuaded by Elder Haman's dialogue into supporting boot camp.
or
b) They're bandwagoning the Elder Haman brand without thinking about it too much.

@HanEmpire probably falls into the first category, but I suspect the rest of being in the second. Mind you, I'm terribly biased against people who post only there vote, without saying anything else. Makes me think they're only following/copy-pasting the 'smart guy' rather than making their own decisions. Very annoying (especially since I can neither prove, nor dis-prove it).

Trade with Vanaheim and Nilfheim

Vanaheim is currently only interested in buying hulks from the ship graveyard from you and will mostly pay with credit or by repairing ships for you. They are willing to go into debt to you as much as you are willing to let them and are willing to let you go fifty-thousand credits into debt with them.

Note the total number of ships of each size and damage level brought and sold can't exceed the amount that you have. (shown in second column)
Vanaheim owes you 15508.96 Cr

Welp. That's some serious cash. I'm going to have to spend serious spreadsheet time before I have an idea/plan.

What was Parnell's preferences of the Command Ships again?

EDIT: In order of prefernce, Brute, Line, Grav-Accelerator, Hunter, Grav-Array, Carrier

@durin, how many of each of the escorts does Parnell want?

@durin, making sure I'm reading this right. To use the Soldier Class for example, Vanaheim is willing fix a Fully Intact one for us at 15.4 or buy a Fully Intact one for themselves at 53?

Off the cuff, selling the Einherjar Brute Command BB and Alexander Line Command BB nets +147,193.5 cred, and paying them to repair the Vajra Grav-Accelerator and Genghis Hunter Command BBs costs -216,930.4. That means owing Vanaheim -69,736 cred, which can be made up pretty quick by selling off all of the half-intact cruisers and mostly-intact Squires (+68,626 Cred). That leaves several entire escort classes untouched and clears the way to start buying or swapping mostly-intact cruisers to reinforce Avernus' fleets.

We likely won't be able to maintain a command battleship for a while due to its upkeep alone. Meanwhile, we'll likely buy up every scrap of exotic material on the market.

But if we buy the Einherjar Brute Command BB and sell the Genghis Class Command BB we get a +14785.
