To add my two cents to the "Eddard Stark and honour" discussion, the books also show us the positive side of him being honorable. Sure, he gets outmaneuvered in Kings Landing (when he walks into a situation with two very competent schemers plotting, zero allies, spends half the book on opiates and his greatest ally is Bobby B), but his honour has far reaching consequences beyond his death. Most people don't believe the Lannisters accusations of treason because of his honour, most people speak of him with respect, and the North not only rallies to him immediately, but even after the Red Wedding, when the main lords and/or heirs are dead or hostage, with all Starks dead or MIA, they are still willing to fight with Stannis to put Rickon, who is a baby, because of Eddard Stark.

By contrast, Tywin the ruthless political operator, can only keep people in line via bribery or threat of violence, is widely disliked, gets shot in the privacy by his own son, and the work of his whole life starts collapsing immediately after. I'm not saying that one should be honourable beyond reason, but honour is a virtue, not a drawback despite what realpolitik might say.

As for the husband discussion, may I suggest Harwin Strong? Canon shows us that he can have kids with Rhaenyra, is a nice guy, the Strongs are at the height of their power at the moment and it would help getting Riverlands support after we trashed Elmo Tully on the tourney. Also, our main man Tarly, with whom we should celebrate our Knighthood, says that a king must be Strong (Badumm Badumm tsss) and the kids between Harwin and this Rhaenyra would be swole beyond measure.

"Though, if it helps, while your victory at the Tourney has deterred some, it seems to have caught the attention of several others," your father noted. "Ser Harwin Breakbones has expressed interest in a match, as has the new Prince of Dorne, much to my surprise."

I admit that I've been biased towards the Harwin match of the main 3, but he's legitimately into Rhaenyra and respects her ability and talent. I truly think he would make a great Husband for our Rhaenyra, and many hold him with a great deal of respect. And he was able to become Captain of the City Watch which likely is something he's still capable of, and the more people loyal to our Allies in the city watch than Daemon's is a good thing. That said I'm okay with a Gwayne match he has his charms and advantages like each suitor does. Harwin I feel also has fewer issues than some other matches, but the various weights people give such matters are certainly varied.

Now as for the actual vote, my initial reaction was go for Diligent because CK brain. Followed up with Honorable as I wasn't originally into Ambitious, however... I've warmed to Ambitious with other arguments here, though I think that leaves me just neutral on the matter at this juncture.

I feel the correct options are Ser Tarly or our Father. Both understand just how excited we are about this, but I think giving our father a bit more space may be wise? I could see going to our father being either a positive choice because he truly does love his family, or perhaps a warm annoyance as he wished to rest and contemplate this choice he has made. I don't see a route that celebrating with Ser Tarly can be negative.

This is a little ambitious.
Absolutely, but we are on track to that already, and it is in fact already covered by our aim. So I fear that an "Ambitious" trait besides that would soon turn to things beyond just the throne, and cause us stress if we then don't do them.

Compared to that, getting stress if we don't do a proper job, well... we ideally don't want to do half-assed jobs anyway.

Diligent just seems the least, interesting of all the choices, being diigent wont really affect Rhaenyras personlity as much as striving for Honor or Ambition will (outside of just stress)

That's the problem! I wouldn't mind a Harwin match IF Alicent isn't against Rhaenyra having multiple genuinely interested lovers. But we don't know her opinion on that yet. And if we assume that she's against non-monogamy, then a Harwin match that turns romantic would break her heart, cause Rhaenyra a whole bunch of Stress, and possibly the relationship with Harwin would suffer for it, too. Not to mention that we'd have fucked up that thing Gwayne asked us very clearly not to fuck up.

And, well, if we marry Harwin while staying romantically loyal to Alicent alone, uhhh. He's still gonna be into us. That just sounds so awkward.

That's not me writing off the possibility, that's me saying that we need to broach the topic with our beloved before making any final decisions.

I think there's a broad expectation that we will have to fight a civil war of some kind to get the throne, so there's a pretty big asterisk to that. And while I think Rhaenyra IC isn't quite as aware of this as the thread is, I think she is picking up on it somewhat. So I think Ambitious could plausibly mean taking actions to ensure that when that war comes, we're in an advantageous position.

Which is how we've been acting already - we sabotaged the Velayron attempts at a royal match because Corlys wouldn't come to the table & we thought it would be a threat to our inheritance, we selected matches for our father that were less powerful, we promoted people to the City Watch and are trying to present an economic challenge to Corlys to weaken our rivals, and we've strongly supported Jeyne Arryn because she is family and therefore likely to be our ally.

I also think "ambitious" and "defiant" could be linked into desiring a more equitable Westeros, at least for noble women - we will surely want any daughters of ours to face less biases and prejudices than we have, and be freer to pursue swordswomanship if they would like - and that is itself an ambitious goal.

I do think "Honorable" is also very in character, but I think it's a bit less interesting. I think diligent is probably the most boring, and also might be poorly suited to how we've been playing - we don't mind leaving a thread hanging if something interesting has come up.

I could be convinced either way here, but diligent is both far too boring and something that seems unwise when we've already been leaving many things unfinished and will likely keep finding more to add on.

People simping for the martel option forget to take into account that he might not want to settle for just babymaking sex for an heir and a spare max. Wich currently is our most likely path if we want to keep alicent.
And thats without going into that martel ambition.
