@Highwind I would make that dance pun and be unashamed of it.

Shame I'm not in the group... :V

[X]Plan Armaments
-[X]Upgrade the rest of our tanks/Artillery to Type C (-225 resources)
-[X]Build 3 Attack Helicopters (-1500)
-[X]Continue research on Heat Blades
-[X]Scan for local Kaiju

Moar gunz. This is the plan for using our windfall of a turn to build military stuff. Upgrades all our tanks & arty so we no longer lose them to 1s, and gets three Attack Choppers to massively increase our rapid response capability, and gives us more forces we can send on long ranged missions. Fills in the rest with a Kaiju Scan and continues work on the Heat Blades to save that money.

Leaving it to other people to suggest a more development-minded list.
The plan sounds good to me, actually. No improvements to our city, but we don't have any resources left for them anyway. It's more effective like this, I think.

eeeh, not really feeling the heatblades. might think of something when I get back from lunch.
I originally proposed HF blades, Revengeance Style, but Heat Blades are essentially the same thing, but without an exceptionally sharp cutting edge

The omake basically reproduced the posts between the first update on page 26 and the latest update, and you didn't post anything there, so I had no material for your character. I'll make sure to include you next time, even if its just a quick reference.

What military rank do you prefer? Any preferences when it comes to booze? Got a name for your character or can I just make something up that sounds vaguely greek and starts with Psi? Keep in mind I'm horrible at coming up with good names, which is why LostDeviljho became... Devlin.

If I'm not mistaken, the upgrades to Type C Artillery and Tanks is a free action.

All Current Units may receive an upgrade to C-Type as a free action. Each unit upgraded costs 25 Resources to upgrade.

Yep, there go.

[] Plan WTFree Week
-[] Upgrade the rest of our tanks/Artillery to Type C (-225 R) (Free Action)
-[] Upgrade Scanners to level 2 (-1000 R)
-[] Research Field Repair and Resupply Battalion (Research support unit capable of resupplying and repairing other air and ground-based conventional units that either receive minor damage - such as crumple zone barrel explosions - or run out of ammunition in the middle a fight, allowing them to continue during a battle after a short delay rather than being forced to pull back entirely)
--In addition to being something hinted at by Fyrestorm to help with , it would also ideally allow helicopters to pull back and reload then rejoin a fight
-[] Research Laser Targeting Support System (Research laser targeting assistance system that when used to lock onto a target, increases the accuracy of other units that are able to make use of such targeting data)
--I know this is a thing that we've had in other Jaeger quests, usually mounted on Helicopters and usually worked out pretty well.
-[] Research Titan 'Waltz' incident - Review the non-fight surrounding the non-Kaiju classified as 'Waltz' to try to determine just WTF happened, including investigating the area of the ocean that it fired its cannon into for hints about what it may have been trying to do.
--I really, really want to know what it is we just witnessed and see if we can't figure out any clues that might help us know what we should plan to do next time Waltz or one of his buddies shows up.

(1225 R Total, 825 Resources Remain)

thing is, heating metal actually makes it softer and so degrades the the cutting edge.

...what about electro blades? electricity burns could still cauterize wounds, and from my (limited) knowledge of giant robot engineering, it should be easier to channel electricity through to the fangblades than heat.

his name is actually pronounced something like "soo-kuh", so you could do something with that.

Actually, thinking about it, putting in research to the heat blades probably would be a good thing to do this week, get at least some progress on upgrading Tacit.

[X] Plan This Week We Didn't Kill Anything
-[X] Upgrade the rest of our tanks/Artillery to Type C (-225 R) (Free Action)
-[X] Upgrade Scanners to level 2 (-1000 R)
-[X] Research Cauterizing Heated FlameFangblades
-[X] Research Laser Targeting Support System (Research laser targeting assistance system that when used to lock onto a target, increases the accuracy of other units that are able to make use of such targeting data)

My extensive knowledge of Giant Robot Engineering tells me that drills and rocket punches are great weapons and that Courage is a perfectly viable energy source, as are Love, black holes, Evolution and Willpower. :V

But seriously now, I can see what you mean, even if I don't think it's that big of a deal. We already have the bonus to Heat Blade research, unless...

@Fyrstorm I know it's unlikely, but I'll ask anyway. Could we use the research bonus for Electroblades research as well? The main reason we want either is for the Cauterising effect, anyway.

If not, is there any drawback inherent to the Heat Blade upgrade or is it essentially neutral?

Just to stay in theme of being Untaggable and foreign I'll just be The Junshō/The Commodore

Wat. No...?

We're already in a world where Jaegers and Kaiju can actually exist. Physics can go cry in a corner.

Also, Striker Eureka's Sting Blades are Heat Blades (probably refined to the nth degree), so it's already proven to work in-universe.

Edited my plan to include the Waltz research. I think the laser targeting system & Resupply groups can wait till next turn.

The bonus is not for heated blades, it's for cauterizing blades. Your science team just tried heating them first. Electric and Vibroblades are also viable.

You shall henceforth be known within the Neo-Seattle High Command as Commodore... [googling, please wait]

Psihí? ...Psyché. Soul. Goddammit I should have googled that sooner.

Anyway, welcome back to the Command Room, Commodore Psi. I imagine leading the Tank and Artillery squadrons from the front these past engagements might not have been the most pleasant experience considering how prone to Catastrofic explosions they were these past couple battles, but now that we have Elite tank squads to make sure the others won't fuck up too hard, we can get together and plan how to gut Kaiju with ridiculously large blades once more.

We will also resume our old habit of playing James Brown whenever we get together, we know it [amuses/annoys] you so we ain't stopping.

(That's what I got for your character, at least. I might write a victory celebration Omake the next big victory we have, so if you guys want any quirks to your characters, personality traits or descriptions, let me know, either here or on private convesations.)

For what it's worth, I did do an updated plan that swaps the Resupply group for the flameblades.
Yep, I'd just rather have those sweet choppers. Hitting on a 4+ without a damage penalty is pretty awesome.

Also edited my plan again to use Cauterizing Fangblades not Heat Blades. Forgot what terminology was used for them.

Eh, my idea was that no one knows what my name is (and if they do they don't recognize the language), so most stick with calling me The Commodore / Junshō, a man of few (English) words.

As for partying:
•high alcohol tolerance
•Gin + Tonic
•great at karaoke but only when everyone's so drunk that the only thing anyone ever remembers

*goes to look up what James Brown is*

James Brown, Funk, R&B and Soul musician.

Get it? Because the High Council (which is just the club where the avatars of the members of the thread get together after the Combat Turns and have fun, mostly to celebrate the victory. Booze is usually involved on some level) knows your name means soul, even if they never say it out loud.

Need just a few votes, please. Plan Armaments is currently leading 2-1 against Plan We Didn't Kill Anything This Week.

Oh, is that all?

I won't care about that at all (not that I wanted the name spread about as "The Commodore" anyways), but realistically I'd have no reason to care either way.

Sorry Jawa, but I'll go with Aledeth here. The Helicopters' speed and damage add too much flexibility to our battle plans for me to ignore them. Scanners are nice. Actually, very nice, but not they're not quite essential yet and we can do the research next turn.

I'll need...
1d10+4 for Cauterizing Fangblades
1d10+1 for kaiju scans
And

1d10+3 for Waltz research.

Yes sir Mr President sir.

Edit: well it looks like I'm only allowed one good roll at a time.
LostDeviljho threw 1 10-faced dice. Reason: Cauterizing fangblades (+4) Total: 10
10 10
