With the kaiju caught off-balance, the assembled forces have no trouble landing solid hits on the kaiju! The monster groans, pulling itself around. Even a Category III has only so much strength to call on, and the repeated impacts and burnings are beginning to tax Arbalest.

Arbalest takes 4 Strikes! Arbalest is losing strength!

But there's no break for the kaiju, as Tacit Ronin pushes in again, blades slashing!

Arbalest manages to barely scrape past the first blow, but is blindsided by the jaeger's next move!

The blade rips through the damaged tissue on the kaiju's front, severing major blood vessels before splitting the kaiju's heart in half! Arbalest's response is ultrasonic, the kaiju's jaw open in an inaudible scream, before Tacit pushes it over, and stomps on its throat.

Week 4: Combat End
Unfortunately, Tacit's progress in clean killing seems to have been lost. Arbalest's corpse is leaking blood at a truly impressive rate, and more than double the standard amount of neutralizing CO2 has to be brought out to slow the reactions for it to be harvested. The jaeger's entire forearms receive a thorough scrub-down, and a repaint of their standard white.

Upon examination, Arbalest appears to have more than a few tricks up its sleeves. Not only was the kaiju's body perfect for grappling, its arms could inflict substantial damage-- assuming it could hold its foe still long enough-- but the kaiju's lateral musculature was developed so that any headbutts would have nearly double the force behind them as expected. Additionally, it appeared to have a similar organ to Marvin-- allowing it to propel a series of bone darts with impressive force at shorter ranges.

In other news, the surviving crews of the self-destroyed Type 100s have requested that they be taken off front-line duty, and reassigned to something less heart-attack-threatening-- such as DP guarding, or recruit training.

Right now, what we need to improve is the number of actions we can get, which will in future turns allow us to improve our ability to get resources and up that science score from a 0 so that we can, among other things, up that armor and further reduce the amount of kaiju blue our kills leave lying around.

I agree with your logic, but am confused why Population 3 -> 4 costs 2500 when it should be 2000. I know it's what the spreadsheet says, but I think the spreadsheet is wrong here.

Also cleanup is a free action, so you can add another resource search or scan for local Kaiju (not that we'd go hunting on 3 actions).

I've accounted for both - I actually did notice originally that I forgot about cleanup being free and added in the scan right away. Seems a reasonable thing to do for future reference.

Assuming we have the dough and actions for it, I think upgrading science should be a primary concern for our next downtime, otherwise we can go after any Kaiju we find if they're not too big to handle yet.

I'm ok with this plan, but I'd argue that what is really eating our resources right now are the cleanup costs, not low income. I suggest researching either Cauterizing Blades or reduced Cleanup costs instead.

I suppose I can go along with building forces over scanning, but I'm not sure I'm fan of building the T-95s.

Cauterizing Blades are definitely something for the to-do list; if we wanted, we could try researching more cost-effective and efficient cleanup methods this turn alongside Kaiju harvesting.
