Partially powered down mode while unconscious replicates something akin to Supercell activity?
Seems like a bit of a stretch. It's possible, mind, but it doesn't seem like the most likely hypothesis.
Sorry! Added in the Betas! Your argument made sense about them.
I mean...I was more joking and poking at a coincidence (you and Bungie both leaving betas out) than anything else. But that's fine.
I didn't say it was necessarily a gate kaiju, but maybe a kaiju with an organic reactor to power an ability. Something we have NOT encountered.
Interesting, and frightening, thought. Given what Ascalon and Danslief were able to accomplish on atomic power, I'd rather not see a Supercell-powered Kaiju anytime soon. Still seems unlikely to me, just because of how dangerous transporting such a Kaiju, alive, would be.

I do, however, find it entirely possible that the reason KRAUN's Mk VIIs go berserk is because their cores are derived from either a captured Kaiju or Seijin, and the hit-squad was trying to track the radiation back to the source, to either free the being trapped there, or kill it. Mostly because the little we've heard about Mk. VIIs makes them sound like Evangelions, and I don't see why KRAUN would have such trouble controlling them if they weren't incorporating Kaiju biology into them.

I'm pretty sure that control thing was a joke from Fyr to throw us off given the context.

Now it's my turn to be a bit frightened...

Well, yeah, but I excluded Betas because I saw Bungie's post, though my initial drafts included Betas-- but you get the point. It's all good.

The main problem with a Supercell-fueled kaiju would be getting it through a Breach onto Earth in the first place, since Supercells probably wouldn't work so well when inside another wormhole. Though, of course, given that KB is an ignition component in Supercells, it's entirely possible that such a hypothetical kaiju could have just made it through on auxiliary power, and then activated the Supercell once it was on the other side. And now I realise that such a think wasn't actually the question.

What do you expect me to do? I've seen Uprising, and you guys have seen that KRAUN's kinda the NERV of this setting, obviously I'm gonna be all "oh, and KRAUN's totally not making trauma-powered kaiju-jaeger hybrids on the side, by the way."

You should be frightened of Fyr's mind, for it is a dark and squamous place full of Super Robot and Evangelion and Godzilla movies mashed together in a heap of screaming terror.

He created Sword Class Kaiju.

Be very afraid.
;)

Edit: also, sig'd.

This sounds like a challenge.

Race to Mark V anyone?

Maybe. On the other hand, someone made the Seijin of Waltz's faction. We have reason to believe that group is human. The most likely candidate is another KRAUN splinter, IMO, with a rogue Precursor with human collaborators coming in at a very close second. Maybe the NA branch is going down the same route, but are having AI design issues. You never know.

Fair enough.

Alternatively, if they can modify their Kaiju without the Kaiju leaving Earth (Hellwyrm might indicate that to be the case, same with Grae), then they could just install one on Earth, potentially.

Which doesn't mean they aren't. Or that someone else hasn't, given the Seijin's existence. Hell, we're pursuing the concept ourselves.

Well, we can always ask. Slotting "call KRAUN" into next turn seems doable. We should definitely ask what they were transporting, or at least for them to warn us when something like it is passing through the area.

Whether or not they're making Evangelions, that Supercell seems to have attracted the Wrecking Crew. It's thus clearly not an ordinary Supercell. There was also some reason for it to be live during transit, because it was emitting radiation. That's about the limit of major statements we can make with confidence. Everything else is speculation until we get more data, most likely out of KRAUN.

Whatever it is, I think we need to have a talk with KRAUN about sending live reactors with distinctive signatures through poorly-defended towns. Especially if the reactor has a really distinctive signature. I'd really prefer not to do this again, and we should make it clear that we won't alway be able to make it in time.

So I've been curious for a couple days. How long do people think it will take in in-game months to start the Oblivion Bay Crusade, and then the St. Helens Crusade? I generally know the how and why and what we need for both of those things, so this question is just a pure when estimate from you guys.

This ^^^^; only nicer. ;)

*Imagines a Rune spell that combines all Jaegers with a particular Rune carved on them to make a Mega-Jaeger*

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. :thonk:
What I really want to see is if we can make a Magical Reactor for the Jaegers and what sort of Reactor Discharge it'll have.

The fact we won't always make it in time is the exact reason I want to gice them the blueprints for the Skadi. It's absolutely not just because I want to see their faces when we show them our Rocket Ekranoplan Toboggan. Absolutely.

:V

They wear masks, we can't see their faces.

Side note, did we ever ask what was up with the ominous masked conspiracy setup they have going?

It really depends on what our income looks like for the next several turns, and what our exact prerequisites are. If we want a flying, Mark IV Tacit before we go on our Oblivion Bay Crusade, it may be a while.

I didn't think that was particularly impolite, honestly. That last bit wasn't a threat, but a fact. We made very good time today. That's not guaranteed to happen next time. We could easily have had a storm between us and the outpost, or been delayed by other Kaiju. It's a long trip from Neo-Seattle to MICHEAL. If this is a one-off shipment, good. If it's not, we should be informed when this sort of thing is coming.

It should begun to see how they react.

We have not.

Those kinds of factual statements can be very easily read as a threat, though I personally have no issue with it.

Ya know what I meant. Their reactions will be priceless.

From what I remember of our last chat, they don't even take that ominous masked conspiracy thing all that seriously outside of meeting with us.

The big problem wouldn't even be the number of weeks and actions we'll need to take to prepare so much as our income. And given our income is based mostly on how many kaiju we can kill, we should be hunting every week, preferably killing Cat IVs.

I think we'll take about 5 to 8 weeks from when we start saving up, depending mostly on how high the Category of the Kaiju we fight is.

I think you're actually getting that from the example of an average "KRAUN vs The World" turn, which implied they only use the masks when we call them up.

Or if we have any shinies we end up chasing,
Possibly, though it might be slightly rude.

Then obviously, that would have been one of the true parts ;)

In any case, how are we looking for votes?

I am most certainly in favor of a pointed discussion with KRAUN's council. On how as proven allies we require some additional transparency on their behalf. We need them to fill in some blanks and reciprocate with information sharing beyond our past need to know merely civil relationship. Seattle lives were risked on their behalf saving KRAUN lives... casual civility was appropriate before, we've moved beyond that.
