Okay, so, locking in the vote. I'm just gonna use this to segue directly into the Combat End post, to save space.

Edit: may not be able to fit in that short story right now, but I'll probably write it up. For now, though, you'll get a base report to at least steer you in the right direction.

So, Highwind as expressed a reluctance to go after Goryo's Nest without at least two actions in reserve. I could potentially try and squeeze another spare one out of my plan, or we could put that off for another turn, and use the remaining two actions to call KRAUN up and build (and install, I think) the SFT Cut-off for Tacit.

I'm currently thinking, for the MPFs, we should make 2 Autogyros squadrons, 1 tank squad, 1 Arty squad, and 1 Mortar team. This helps round off numbers on some key unit-types, to make the transfer to Everett smoother. I'd like to make a Moray with the docks, since we could use some aquatic scouts, and subs are good at being sneaky.

Current plan is to split our conventional units 50-50, with Everett getting the Heimdall and the Type-RX, and Seattle keeping the two other destroyers and the Hlin. The new Skadi stays at Seattle, I guess. I'm tempted to just give one city all the AKBs, rather than splitting them. Not sure how to handle our single Elite artillery. Maybe have the Moray, getting the slightly larger 'halves' of the Condors and Meganeuras, and all the AKBs equal one Elite Artillery? Deals with all the odd numbered unit types left all at once.

Dang it Nix, your plan covers all the bases EXCEPT dealing with KRAUN council on the tails of us saving their bacon.

I'm not even mildly sure what *could* be trimmed to allow that (it's a damn good plan) but I know gratitude runs cold -quickly-

---edit missed the relevant preface by skipping straight into the plan, excuse the dumb...

Lol. Don't worry about it, it happens. I just copy-pasted my last draft, since I want some input on my proposed changes before I add them.

On the one hand, I would really like to deal with Goryo's Nest. On the other, I see Highwind's point about wanting more actions in reserve if we're going to be poking the spooky hole in ground. I could potentialty squeeze that in by removing the Ammo Factory research, but that's not enough to wedge in talking to KRAUN, too, which we really should do.

I think we can drop talking to KRAUN till next week. Goryo's nest is really more important, given the potential issues that place could spawn and the complete lack of information we have on what that hole even is.

I'm less sure that it's that pressing an issue. We've left it alone for...what, a week, maybe two? The lack of Kaiju life-signs from the hole, plus the short time-frame, both make me think it can wait. The KRAUN thing, though, might be a touch more pressing, given that the scale of the attack we just fought. Hell, we might be able to get them to scout the Abyss hole out for us, if we play our cards right.

Edit: Depending on the nature of the hole, poking it may actually make things worse, rather than better. It containing hibernating Kaiju that don't wake up until disturbed, for example.

I doubt is since they'll be busy in Spokane if they have any sense. My thinking on this is deal with the things closer to home while we upgrade everything, then talk to KRAUN about stuff we may not be able to do anything about.

If this is something from the Mk VII line that caused this, there's... not a whole lot we can actually do besides say "Warn us next time". We do need to talk to them, but most of the actual solving of this potential issue is fully on them.

This doesn't make a lot of sense tactically or strategically, and honestly sounds like a random possibility thrown at the wall. These are useful, but in this case I don't think this particular one is very valid.

E2: From what I remember we sent a heli down there to poke it and found it went really deep, so that's one reason in my mind to doubt a Kaiju is down there.

Urk. I suppose we can hold off on the Skadi for one turn so we can raid Goryo's nest, but I don't know what to cut for the talk with KRAUN. Maybe the J-scale Munitions factory? The Bakelite magazines are also a contender I guess.

This is really annoying because I really like the plan as it is.

Guys, I'm not gonna have the Olympic Hellmouth open up and spew Kaiju-Satan all over your cities if you don't go there right now or anything. Keep in mind that Goryo's replenishing abilities would take several weeks at minimum to replace a single Cat II-- and you've killed it, so anything down there isn't getting the nourishment and care it would normally receive.

What I'm saying is that you've wiped out the effective threat from there for at least a month, if not more. The other territory kaiju are bigger threats than "Goryo 2.0: Revengeance".

Not to dissuade you; just stating some facts. I personally feel it's too soon for me to return, so I've got no upcoming plans involving Myrmions.

Ah.

Well then guys and gals I think we can drop Goryo and talk to KRAUN as well as some other stuff on our ever expanding to do lists.

We do have other things to spend our actions on, you know. Including other things we've been procrastinating on. Potentially burning three actions on an issue that is likely not urgent right now seems like a bad idea, especially with so many improvements to our forces in the pipeline.

Thing is, in-character, we only know that there's a scary hole that doesn't give off any Kaiju readings. Out-of-character, we know that, eventually, another Goryo could be born there. But I don't see that happening within a few turns of killing the original. That'd be excessively cruel. Goryo's Nest isn't urgent, just important to deal with before it becomes an issue again.

For the sake of argument, let's assume there is something seriously dangerous in there. I'd rather patch some of the glaring flaws in our combat forces before engaging, say, a Sword Kaiju in a closed, confined space, rather than rushing into a fight with something that has stayed out of fights near it in the past.

There's nothing about the nest that is screaming for our attention right now. And, while I'm all for being pro-active, we have so much other stuff to do that I'm unsure if it's really worth our while.

It's rather hard to keep things you didn't know in mind. I wasn't aware Goryo was the source of the growth of it's spawn. That said, yeah, it doesn't seem like a priority right now.

Well, there goes my Paranoia. I was enjoying it too. :V

This does make things simpler too. Now we have two extra actions for stuff we want.
We can probably skip the SFT cut-off for Tacit, I think, because now that it only increases Movement distance, Sound Breaker is far more valuable for a Jaeger like Phenom than for Tacit, who can walk faster than Phenom can run.

I completely missed this. I figured you were at least considering the possiblity that the Spooky Deep Hole led to Bad Things, most likely Kaiju. That's pretty much the only reason to rush into hitting the Nest, in my mind. It's not like Goryo or the Myrmions were that big a threat.

That makes sense. So, KRAUN call and...I don't know, maybe a Mod for Tacit or Jagdhund? Although Mod installation does leave the Jaeger it's being installed in out of hunts and stuff for the turn. So maybe something with more immediate benefit would be better. Then again, we'll probably want to add Mods to all our Jaegers at once, so as to minimize the negative impact on hunting. Decisions, decisions...

More research, like on the Fury is my vote. We have too much crap left to research and we can't make a full upgrade to Mk IV until that gets done.

Well, we do have an extra pair of Hyper-Vascular Muscle Strands and Tacit could always use more Grapple bonuses...

Or we can upgrade the Supercell Fury or the Allegorica.

Weren't you guys gonna give the Clotting Factor to Phenom (since Phenom's the only one who can accept it right now)? Or you could always just try to knock out another old research project so you have less to deal with in the future. There's options, especially since you're getting the Environment boost this Downtime.

Mark IV reactor research would work nicely, yes.

I was more referring to the fact that we'll likely want to have Tacit, Phenom, and Jagdhund all upgrade on one turn, rather than Tacit on one turn, Jagdhund the next, etc., if we plan on doing a bunch of hunting. Unless we're comfortable hunting with just two Jaegers, that is. So we might as well have Mods lined up for everyone else when we decide to Mod Phenom Sable with the Leg Muscles and Clotting Factor. A simple Dodge boosting mod would work nicely for this.

Already accounted of that in my vote plan. But yes, I would like to install the Clotting Factor. However, again, the whole "can't hunt on the turn you install mods" thing is making us want to do all our immediate modding at once.

Hm. I was willing to wait until we get whatever movement-enhancing equipment we'll get for Phenom, just in case it's a Mod so we can equip both at the same time.

As it is, building the TN-0 and installing it will take both our currently open actions.

Another idea is taking one of the current J-tech actions, putting it on a General actions instead and using the J-tech action to finally finish upgrading Phenom's Toughness, since he's sitting at 23/25 successes.

Considering we don't plan on hunting this turn, there's no downside to installing Mods this downtime other than the action cost.

First, I figured the goal was a Mod, for the legs. Second, the action cost isn't insignificant on a jam-packed turn like this one. Third, finishing off Phenom's Toughness while moving the movement Mod to general actions sounds like a good idea to me. Bringing Phenom Sable closer to being Mk. III edges out researching Mods or Supercells, in my book.

Alright I can dig it. Not entirely satisfied but I'll live.

What does that leave us to do later for stuff we all have expressed at least some interest in? *thinks*

-Fury Supercell Research
-Sunfire Warhead and Missile body research
-Goryo's Nest
-Hunting Tara and sieging her castle.
-Raubtier stuff
-Ranged Grapple hands for Phenom
-Clean up Vulcan's Nest

I think that's most of the "hot topics" left over, just so everyone can keep them in mind?

III edges out researching Mods or Supercells, in my book.
