But didn't wouldn't a speech to the enemy go against this?Right now they think we're some incredibly hostile Xenos that want to exterminate them, if we give a speech to them telling them that we're actually a multi-species (but predominantly human) polity here on a war of liberation, that might get more of them to have second thoughts.
But didn't wouldn't a speech to the enemy go against this?
Like, she is going to show her face, not the actors. So to me it feels like it would just mess everything up and make the Voxxians believe we are a xenos empire coming to murder them all.
So to me that's the opposite that would happen if we did a speech to the enemy.
That...is not what you voted for? She is going to give a speech, but will have a double act as "her" instead.
-[X] Admiral Huntress Of The Black Awning
--[X] Hire an actor-diplomat (with military experience) who is ridiculously photogenic to serve as the "Demand Surrenders" Admiral, with a fake rank and a bunch of nonsense rank markings, medals, and etc. For those silly Xenophobes.
I can't speak for everyone else who voted for talking with the enemy fleet but for me it is not about the morale, it is about telling those dogmatic motherfuckers exactly who they are dealing with, why they are going to get thrown back into Breskal and make sure everyone knows that a better way of life is being actively fought for in this apocalyptic mess of a galaxy. Why are we worrying about our people's morale when they're all die-hard Star-Child worshippers and volunteers?
We want as many of them to surrender as soon as possible, that's why we dedicated so many actions to infiltrating them, why are people now voting against that? Telling them that, no, we're not in fact here to kill/torture/enslave everyone seems like the most obvious thing to do.
Damn vote weights.
EDIT: Not seriously complaining btw.
Ah. I thought that since she was a maverick she would just ignore the plan and show her face from the get go.That...is not what you voted for? She is going to give a speech, but will have a double act as "her" instead.
how are we going to convince the populace to surrender if they think they are being invaded by Xenos?

If I had to guess, it's b/c the overall attitude of the thread and therefore the Federation has been to not make any official contact and treat the Van Zandt Free Duchy as vile villains to be destroyed and liberate their people.I still don't get the vote weight? Like, we wouldn't be trying to reach out to the enemy Admirals, we'd be talking to try to reach the people of the planet and the Soldiers and Sailors and so on... something we've been doing from the very start of our Infiltration?

because the 19 option had a 0.25 multiplier which reduces it to 4.75.Honestly the fact that a majority of people in this voted for this option and it still fails is really weird. Like a vote of 19 vs 6 clearly, shows most of the thread prefers this option but for some reason, it fails? Why?

It's b/c the Almighty Cookie decided that due to our previous disposition, the vote would be weighted against giving a speech to the Free Duchy, despite us having a human actor specifically for talking to them included in the plan.Honestly the fact that a majority of people in this voted for this option and it still fails is really weird.
