585.M42 - Time For Sorrow
It was a time for war. It was a time for sorrow. It was a time for death to once more swing its scythe across the stars to reap the souls of the departed. And it was a time when the navy realized they had named their newest ship class the "Chamleon" instead of "Chameleon."

The Task Fleets Alpha, Beta, and Gamma slipped their mooring and ignited their engines, the blooming hearts of stars burning within their hulls as the 1st Perfindian and 1st Kriegar SAGs readied themselves within their assigned ships for the tasks to come. One set about with oaths and iron duty in honor clad, while the other, augmented by machinery and metal and blessed oil, busied themselves with contests of martial might, boasts of strength, and celebrations to the last days of their lives or the beginning of a new one instead.

In twinned mirrors did the fleet of the Lamenters set out in turn, their brothers armed and trained, their scouts willing and eager, the serfs of the fleet trained and honed to a fine edge, with no ship unable to burn and fight unto the last in the coming raid and battle.

Both fleets had been augmented with last-minute maintenance, their ships and machines tuned and their spirits roaring for the fights ahead, with orders given to burn and destroy as much as possible and to deny the use of the sacrifices to Chaos, be it by the salvation of liberation or the embrace of ensured oblivion ensured by seven Choirs set aside for the fleets to use as they saw fit.

And at the head of Task Fleet Gamma, Admiral Aspadillia van Herrata sat on the Command Throne of her Leo Heavy Cruiser, orders buzzing in her head by the writ of High Admiral K-532 to truly put her ship through the paces and give him the battles he was built for.

But for most, this spectacle of fleets burning against the maws of Chaos, was but a side-show compared to the debates and vitriol spewn within Cradle Station as the arguments and discussions for the Last Resting Place of the Prophet seemed to near their ends.

And what an end it was:
(6-Hour Moratorium)
[] [Write-In the Mausoleum of Teeln]
-[X] First Hymnal Bnuy is buried/interred/cremated/situated next to him.
(The above is mandatory and need not be voted upon.)

[Y] The Butua-Class Grace of Their Hands
This 7km long, 1km wide, and 550m high ship serves as the last and mobile resting place of Teeln, Prophet of the Star Child, and First Hymnal Bnuy, both of which rest in the heart of the vessel side-by-side in a closed church that is only opened by trusted and specially tasked members of the clergy to maintain and clean the interior. Said church is surrounded by enough space for mourners and the faithful to pray, light candles, leave approved offerings, and meditate on the teachings of the two most influential figures of the Glimmering Federation. Aboard the ship is more than enough space for pilgrims to make their homes, either to join the endless journey of the vessel permanently or to leave at the next port. Likewise, enough internal space exists to allow the Butua-Class to ferry priests and aid to whatever planet they visit; the appearance of this holy ship inspires the faithful in more than the spiritual sense as material aid descends upon the planets to help those not yet aided.

Oh, that? Yeah, that allows you to actually take advantage of your Military Doctrine. Because, Fun Fact; you are using the utterly basic Mechanized Vehicles of humanity, rather than anything your own. Meaning that you are using Chimeras and Salamanders. And that's it.

Yaaa that's what I was worried about lol, we have the research unlocked by the karnivores, and we have that tech, and because we never spare research action except to make a better navy we aren't actually receiving benefits from our traits/ rewards that unlocked these lmao

Well, we better pencil THAT in for the future, because this is getting ridiculous.

We also, you know, need to build Karnivores. We haven't built any beside the initial batch, we could literally quintuple our Karnivore force in one action right now.
We turned down a Faith trait upgrade for the Karnivores, yet we don't actually use them.

I wouldn't say that. They got some good use against Neon in the early stages and helped fight Chaos monstrosities on Qualach's Forge.

It's just we haven't really had that much trouble on the ground, but I think that will change soon with 621. But before we make more I want to improve their weapons.

I will say that as cool as it is, I am a bit skeptical about a mobile monument, just because of the fact that accidents happen. I don't think HeroCooky would do that, but it does make me feel uncertain.

Do you even know how many Karnivores we got? I'll tell you. We have fifteen. We have more planets then we got Karnivores. We are NOT using them. We're letting that boon just wither on the vine.

Well that's kind of hilarious. Time to just rename the whole concept.

It hasn't felt like our ground forces were limiting at any point. Battles are won in void, ground combat capability just determines the length of cleanup. Our SAGs auto-generate and we haven't even been able to deliver all of them yet. More

As for the vote, I'm wondering if we should focus on intentionally setting up a pilgrimage site that reminds people of the core tenants of the faith. Discourage some of those schismatics.

Well shit, we bungled that one.

True, but a mobile mausoleum would make it so that it's more accessible to all where it can move throughout the Federation and even help give supplies. Plus we could still outfit it with enough guns and elite guards to not be easy prey.

Honestly, or we could create a Pilgrimage culture. Make it so that the ideal of people is to at least once visit the Monument in their lifetime, even if it's not a religious requirement.
But doing that could be prohibitive to some people due to being poor and can't really leave what job they have to go on a pilgrimage lest they leave their family without income.

Whereas making it the Mausoleum mobile would allow it to be more accessible even for those that don't have the means to travel to a whole 'nother subsector

We dropped a faith item for this STC. Lmao. But yeah maybe some SAG productions as well or maybe at some point we may need to start thinking of automation schemes as well

We have enough SAG I think. Unless you want some specific kind of SAG.

It might be worth just spamming out a ton of Karnivores. We might get something if we build a ton of them from gaining more expertise in the production of knight walkers.

The thing is it competes with other Actions. Like frankly if we have free Actions I'd rather spend them on the Revolution School or finally solving the Immortality Problem or at least addressing it or so on than making a few more deadly robos, as cool as they are.

Yeah. Like I said. Had I known then what I know now I would have skipped the STCs. Passive effects and automation are king

Edit: Which are also, sadly, my feelings on binary screeching

But making the Mausoleum mobile is just begging Chaos to snipe it on transit. Especially if you mean for it to travel through the warp.

There's no defense against Chaos magicking top level resources in melee range of your important stuff. Even the Emperor couldn't harden against that.

That doesn't mean a mobile fleet mausoleum is a bad thing.

So I did some math. In the 22 main turns since we took Heretic's Refuge we have researched 8 technologies(7 actions, 1 freebie). Assuming the same actions taken, had we taken Mad Binary Screeching we would have 9 technologies(7 actions, 2 random freebies). My regret continues to grow and this is gonna get worse as time goes on cause for Refuge to even keep up we'd need to do RnD every two turns for it's effect to proc

I will note you're not calculating the, admittedly we slightly botched it one time and had to recover quickly (see the Traitor's Reward thing), fact that it also has narrative-mechanical effects in recruiting Hereteks on the planets we liberate/etc.
