Starline found out that whatever Nack got is an ancient Relic belonging to some ruins deep in the Empire. He wouldn't just tell this to Eggman if he wasn't sure the artifact was actually worthwhile to him.
Mind you, he could be wrong, but as far as He knows and what informed Eggman, the Artifact/Relic is the real Deal.
Also you did see in the flashback what it was too, but that OOC.
That's what the power heros are for. If they've got fast enough reflexes to shoot before Metal or Starline yoink it then we weigh in if we can take them in a fight.

I would prefer in trying to buy the Relic, and if we lose the bidding we can always steal from it's newest owner.
I would recommend we get either Cannan or Paestol this turn to serve as another muscle. Cannan is a tier 3 minion so it may be worthy to hire her and we can send Belle in Turn 3 to hire Paestol.
Turn 4 we hire Nephtys because I want that Egg Boss and she holds intimately knowledge about Eggman MO so she also represtn a security risk.

Sleet and DIngo? If they are here they've probably fallen back on bounty hunting or are trying to get hired by a King. They might have not liked Robotnik but they liked the perks that being his top enforcers gave them.
…. Well, that version of us wasn't superior anyway. We just need to convince them to come with us… get back our empire…. Make them remember, who is in charge of them.

Yeah the fear of Robotnik and the promise of wealth and power is what'll get them. I actually prefer Sonic Underground Eggman to SatAM eggman. he didn't robotosize everyone and had enough common sense to let the aristocrats keep doing their own thing as long as they paid their taxes.
Off the top of my head the Sonic X Robots and Grimer from Sonic the Comic.
