Liquid Horizon would be very interested in Aura as it's effectively a very easy to teach magic,
Ah, Blake is actually pretty sure that the locals don't have enough Aura to make unlocking it ground-breaking—or when they do have large amounts, they're already using it to increase their physical capabilities. They might be able to increase their capacity and hone it, but doing so would be via practice and training just like mana-based magic.

It might be helpful if someone can't use normal mana-based magic for whatever reason. Otherwise, it's just another alternative on the list.

Voting is still locked isn't it?
Moratorium is still ongoing. I wanted people to have the opportunity to raise their points since picking a Guild is a pretty important vote for the direction of the quest.

An important point is that Liquid Horizon, as an explorer-type guild, would give the opportunity to spend time in a bunch of different environments to work out how to use their ambient mana types, and to bond the lands once Blake gets the hang of that.

By my preference, I'd arrange the guilds like this:

[] Sylph Symphony (Artifact Creation)
This is the steady and reliable option. Artifacts add up with time, we get more skilled. Not sure what use our Black primary affinity would be here though. Selling pest exterminators or something. Edit: this is probably a good step towards mana storage of some kind.

[] Liquid Horizon (Archeology & Magic Development)
Straight up knowledge and diverse magic examples and experience. May even be better to learn the basics of Artifice, then join Liquid Horizon.

[] Lion's Pride (Large & General)
Lion's Pride feels like a guild to join solely for the membership. It gives us all the benefit of not being an independent Wizard and that's pretty much it. I'd expect very little else to change for us.

[] Angel's Eye (Small & New)
This sounds like a complicated mess that I'd rather avoid.

[] Yes.
-[] Before you join a Guild. Otherwise, they might only halfheartedly teach you.

Reasoning: I like both the lost magic and artifice routes, and if we go to the Sylph class and then join Liquid Horizon we'll get both. Alternatively, just going pure artifice is a valid choice.

I'm less of a fan of Angel's Eye, because that route seems more character-focused rather then magic-focused, although their demonstrated ability to accept Warlocks puts them above Lion's Pride, who are explicitly called out as having people that will have a problem with Black magic.

I'm willing to bet that Liquid Horizon, who regularly deal with powerful magics that have dangerous or inconvenient side effects, will be fairly accepting of a Warlock. And if we join Sylph we'll be making artifacts anyway, so Blake's main color will be less publically prominent.

EDIT: Was reminded of Moratorium.

[X] Yes.

Angel's Eye seems interesting so that's my preference. After that powerful magic and exploration sounds great. Crafting all the time doesn't really seem all that interesting to ready about, although QM's science votes are legendary so I wouldn't be too upset. I'll probably be more into it after having the lessons, though the vote will be closed by then. Lion's pride seems boring or just annoying.

Angel's eye has the most interesting character hooks, but I do wonder if Liquid Horizon woudln't be more... interesting to read? Lots of new places, more learning focused. I'm mixed on artifacts (could be very good for our skill set, since RWBY has everyone learn crafting pretty fast, but that also means potentialy showing off walker stuff early...?)

And then I'm just not into Lion's Pride as a fit for us. Too big, too many people, and internal grudges are apparently just normal, which doesn't sound great.

Something we do wanna ask, although I'm sort of assuming narratively that this will go well, is how getting recruited into Angel's Eye would work. Do we just assume the Angel lady will find what she's looking for in us? It doesn't seem like there's a way to know or prep for that that's immediately available tho.

Angel's Eye seems the most interesting, though I'm sure the others are as well. The idea of starting out in a small guild and helping it grow in size and/or power seems appealing in the way only a longer journey can be. Also, the possibility of a more focused interaction with a limited cast.

I'd imagine that we go meet her, have some talk or interview or just her looking at us and get a yes or no. If yes, we join. If no, we go to the next guild.

Yeah, that's probably how it'll work. And realistically that's all the planning we can do about it?

So if we go for Angel's Eye first, we just want to have some fallback options for how to get work and then try for our second favorite.

[ ] Ask if Sylph's have anything against Angel Eye and what travelling between them would be like
See, this is why I had a question session before the Guild vote. :p But anyway, as far as the enthusiasts know, SS doesn't have anything specific against Liquid Horizon or Angel's Eye—or even any relationship at all. They admit that there's probably some relationship with possible artificers of Lion's Pride, but they don't know what it is.

Sylph Symphony (Artifact Creation) is the best for leveraging our home plane knowledge to secure a good position for ourselves. Don't know if they can really teach us anything about black Mana, but we don't seem to be running low on low hanging fruit yet and artifact creation is useful knowledge in any case.

Angel's eye seems like the protagonist guild for this world, ensuring their role at the center of all manner of world-shaking events

[X] Yes.

"Not really," Giuseppe replied. "Most Warlocks are still viewed with distrust; there's a big assumption of prior wrongdoing since so many of them showed up out of the woodwork after legalization. The rise of full-fledged Warlock Guilds hasn't helped any. Raleigh largely got a pass since she actually has something resembling a harmless history and shares a Guild with what the uneducated think is an angel. Angels aligned with death are too violent to hide what they are, and the rest are generally associated with protection, divine favor, that sort of thing."

This is pretty big point in favor of Angel's Eye. 3/4th of Blake's mana capacity is Black, so it's very helpful to have a moral(ish) warlock to learn from, and a guardian psuedo-angel to convince people she's still on the path of righteousness.

Overall, I'd say:

1) Angel's Eye (Small and New)
+ Helps maintain a good reputation while still using warlock abilities
+ Between the warlock and the not-angel, can definitely give advice on the dream-entities
+ A powerful, partially divine ally to copy abilities from, and call upon in a fight
+ Small and tight-knit, so sharing info about Blake's Planeswalker abilities is simpler and less risky
- Least variety of magic
- Few potential summon bonds, and most are likely to be weak

2) Liquid Horizon (Archeology & Magic Development)
+ Synergizes well with ruin exploration, and Blake likely has far more talent with learning Lost Magic than most
+ Easy method to impress the Guildmaster; Blake can almost certainly learn his signature scrying spell with Blue mana
+ Multiple "ludicrously powerful" wizards to form summon bonds with
- Lost Magic tends to be lost for a reason; it usually has some kind of drawback
-+ They might be suspicious of a naturally-talented warlock that wants to learn their secrets. Alternatively, some members may overlook this and be super excited to teach a magical prodigy. Results may vary.

3) Lion's Pride (Large & General)
+ Largest variety of magic
+ Niche for just about everything; Lost Magic, ruin-delving, artificers, combat-junkies, wannabe-heroes, etc.
+ Probably the second largest pool of OP wizards for summon bonds, after Liquid Horizon
- Blake's talent for Warlock magic will likely attract suspicion from some, potentially some harassment
- It could take quite some time to attract the attention of the powerful wizards in the Guild

4) Sylph's Symphony (Artifact Creation)
+ At high levels, artifice can be very powerful
- Most of the basics can be learned from a small course without joining the Guild
- Blake's only 1/4 Blue, so specializing in artifice would mean ignoring much of her skillset, unless she wants to get into the business of selling cursed items
- The best artifacts can be found in old ruins, or the MGLN plane

Honestly, I'm not seeing the interest in Angel Eye. Sure, their description is the only one that covered individual members, but as much PLOT as that would be we aren't here for that. We're here to learn magic, help out with Remnant, and AE is just too small to expect much help.

Besides, Alivaril loves his worldbuilding. Just because AE is the only one that got it's members mentioned by the fanboys doesn't mean he hasn't defined the other guilds just as much, if not more so. I read his notes. :V

We can find close-knit friendships in other guilds. Additionally, keep in mind the fanboy we're talking with is very much biased, so there are possible faults that haven't been mentioned (Aside from the implied deliberate getting kidnapped)

With that in mind, I think either of the magic specialized guilds are really our best bet. We learn how to magic, which is what we came for, and find strong guilds with good histories to back us up. Also friends to open up with.

Uh, are artifices really blue or are you assuming so based on it being the tech color?

At any rate, getting even a basic understanding would be useful, so I advocate we take the test regardless of guild choice.

One of the founding members specifically knows the basics of a large variety of magic and this is clearly a Protagonist Guild so summon bonds have decent odds to increase in quality by the time they're relevant.
+ Easy method to impress the Guildmaster; Blake can almost certainly learn his signature scrying spell with Blue mana
Unless he doesn't want us learning his super special magic that he's incredibly cagey about telling people about.

[1] Angel's Eye (Small & New)
Smaller generally means closer knit so better for making friends, plus access to a semi-trustworthy Warlock and the Messenger sounds interesting and the Jack of all trades should be helpful for learning basic magic in a wider variety. There's also no reason to think they won't be doing any exploring since they're both unspecialized and small enough that having someone with way better odds of finding stuff might shift their strategy.

[2] Liquid Horizon (Archeology & Magic Development)
As mentioned, we've got a great set of skills for archeology, though we could probably put those to use elsewhere as well.

[3] Sylph Symphony (Artifact Creation)
We can get most of the short term benefits just by attending their classes

[4] Lion's Pride (Large & General)
Generalists ain't shit.

[X] Yes.

No real reason to put it off as far as I can tell.

PLOT and power tend to go hand in hand, and we're likely to only be able to bring a couple elites anyway, either due to limitations of summoning or just because the more people we tell, the more risk we're at. And this group is the only one with a trustworthy teacher for our primary focus.
We can find close-knit friendships in other guilds.
But we can't become close-knit friends with the entire guild. Being able to have a solid read on every other member is invaluable when it comes to secrecy.

The Messenger and the Warlock of Angel's Eye seem most likely to have personal knowledge that might relate to our dark friends...

I think that makes it worth seeking them out even if we don't join them.

I reckon the best course of action is to do Sylph's four day course, talk to the Eyes, and find out what they can offer us.

I mean, just because we talk to them while guildless doesn't mean we have to join them!

My fault for not double checking the rest of the thread after reading the first alert chapter and not seeing a next threadmark button XD
