I wonder if Dynamite eventually just ends up being our "Heavenly Astrologian+two others" button. I mean, she's one of our only high tolerance powers that isn't Novalight (ugh), so there's a reasonable chance that she shows up in the next few Dynamites. Also leads to a funny running gag if Bitterman chooses.

HA: Did you confess to Mona yet? It's been a month.
Ellie: Mom!
That sounds like Omake fodder lol.
IF we ever do Dynamite again im game
For a Defiant Unit combo for White Hawk/Elysium
And a Apiary+ Zeno one for Scarlet Maturity.

Omake: Yet Another Merry Christmas — ProfessorB New

It was 2:20 AM on December 27, which is of course the true Christmas Day if you heed the Priest-Presidents of Washington. All was quiet in the Apiary, when Dr. Silver awoke to his powers saying - someone's out there.

He jumped out of bed and Hustled and Red Barriered himself. He took up a fighting pose and began creeping forward. As he got closer, he could hear an unfamiliar step pattern. He hit the panic button implanted in his larynx.

The others know to let me sleep alone because of my power, he thought. This is either one of them in a panic... or an intruder.

He stopped and waited to hear the others coming. However, the figure suddenly came around the corner! Rhodes backed away, but he was too slow to hide. He went on the offensive and tried to choke them out with a shield, but the figure simply moved its head and the shield shattered?!

"There's no need for that, young man!" said a booming voice. "Oh, you can't see me. Just a moment..."

Rhodes was too stunned to move as the figure pawed around the wall before flipping on a light. And standing there, was a fat old man in... the Exceed armor, but painted red?

"I'm surprised you saw me, John." the figure continued. "It's been so very long. You must have some total spatial awareness? Even the telepaths, like Seraph, don't wake up."

Rhodes narrowed his eyes. Stall him. "You have me at a disadvantage if you know that," he said, affecting casualness. "Why don't you tell me your powers?"

"Names first!" the man in red replied. "My name, is Valiant Claus."

"Valiant? So you're a thief. Like Stockpile."

"Just the opposite, I'm a giver!" Claus exclaimed. "I remember it clearly. Nora Kim, lovely girl, so sad what happened. But she was stuck building her armor, she needed a rare component. A francium superconductor! Only five in the whole world, and two are in the Ladder's core! And the megacorps weren't coming to the table, oh dear oh dear. Until she found one by her bed on Christmas morn! From yours truly. I only wish she had put up a tree! You haven't either. Something for next year!"

The others should be here by now! Rhodes thought.

"Oh, don't worry about that panic button," Claus said. "[Localized Time Stop], you know! No one gets in while I do my work!"

What? Did-

"Yes I can also read your mind. Of course! I need to find out who's naughty and nice!"

He looked around. "But perhaps you have some milk and cookies? I do feel famished..."

---

Five minutes later, Valiant Claus sat on John's bed, drinking instant noodles.

"It's a good thing you didn't choke me out back there," he was saying. "Otherwise you'd have to take my place! There must always be someone at the Northern Pole, you know."

"Is that how you got started?" Rhodes replied. He stood by the door tensely, stiffly.

"Well, that's a story for another time. I do have places to be! Christmas never sleeps."

Given the time stop, John understood this to mean 'I don't want to talk about it'. He changed the subject. "So, uh... am I on the nice list?"

"The million dollar question!" Claus happily replied. "Let's see..."

He reached to his utility belt and withdrew two comically long sheets of paper. He checked through the first.

"Let's see, let's see... ah! John Henry Rhodes, The Apiary, 1 Justice Street, Worker's Mill district, Horizon City, Horizon International Administration. You're on the nice list! Congratulations!"

A thought came to him. "Oh, and I wonder if..." he went further down the list.

"Lei Zixuan, Secret Bunker near Gutian, Ganxian district, Ganzhou prefectural city, Jiangxi province, China. Twenty six point ten point four point two degrees north, hundred and fourteen point fifty-eight point seven point six degrees east. Secret entrance hidden under the rock pile..."

"Secret bun-"

"She's on the nice list! Hooray! I was telling her for ages You Can Be Nice. Glad she finally came around to it. It's rare for a whole group to be on one list! But we're getting off track! Now for your gift!"

Valiant Claus clapped his hands and reached into another utility pouch, somehow retrieving an high-tech punching bag with various gadgets attached.

"Is that-"

"A replica of Novalight's favorite training device! This little thing can monitor vitals, measure force distribution down to the square centimeter, simulate various body organs so you can practice attacking them, and even plays music!"

A single tear welled in Dr. Silver's eye.

"How... did you know I wanted one?"

Valiant Claus smiled warmly.

"I know everything, my boy. How else would I do my job?"

With that, the red-armored man walked back to the hallway and headed for a shattered window. It was notable that this window had been broken, since Apiary windows use the same material as fighter jets.

"Wait!"

The old man turned back. Dr. Silver had one hand outstretched, looking a bit lost.

"If you were real, all this time..." he swallowed hard. "How come you never came before?"

Valiant Claus smiled a bit sadly.

"Because you didn't believe, John. Also, because the R-Train used to try and shoot me down at the border, but it's distracted now so I got in."

And with that, he leapt from the window, activated his rocket boots, and flew away at one-tenth the speed of light. The time stop wore off, and John watched as snow fell again.

The next morning, each hero awoke to a gift by their bed. Zixuan received a bulletproof cape. Joelle received a massager machine. Mona, a box of chocolates and a book on public speaking. Madeleine, a humongous plush snake. Rhys, Neo-Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee with vitamins infused. Opale, a new shield generator. Noelle, motorbike oil and another box of chocolates. And Mammoth received some long, white hairs that would be very interesting under the microscope.

As the group gathered round to discuss their mysterious gifts, and Leizi fussed over checking them for bombs, Rhodes thought of the last thing he'd heard Valiant Claus yell.

"Merry Christmas to all, good luck with Socialite!"

... What makes this funny is that Santa Claus in DC/Marvel is op af, so it works.
In Marvel Santa Claus is quite possibly THE most powerful mutant. Period.
In DC he trained Batman and every year invades Apokalypse and its defenses in order to give Darkside coal, and wins every year.
So yeah op Santa.

Also now that Yara is being locked in as psychic let me propose a hero name:
en.m.wikipedia.org

Ori (Yoruba) - Wikipedia

Article:
Orí, literally meaning "head," refers to one's spiritual intuition and destiny. It is the reflective spark of human consciousness embedded into the human essence, and therefore is often personified as an Orisha in its own right.

I wonder if Dynamite eventually just ends up being our "Heavenly Astrologian+two others" button. I mean, she's one of our only high tolerance powers that isn't Novalight (ugh), so there's a reasonable chance that she shows up in the next few Dynamites. We absolutely have a bunch of other high-power options besides Novalight and HA. Apiary, Zeno, Automne, Justiciar, Giant Slayer...

But I think it all depends on the kinds of threats and situations we end up facing, and also what sort of power we want to create. It's just that in this situation it's not just narratively cool to use HA, but also is good tactical sense for negating her own clone's inertia control (and maybe Towarri's gravity).

As we saw here, Potency 4-6 metahumans are absolutely viable too. Red Huntress, Seraph, Nox, Memoria and others can be really really good depending on circumstances. For example... we know that multiple tags can stack together to become a more rounded-out power, so... Seraph + Justiciar could end up providing some incredibly powerful True Telepathy and Clairvoyance on top of whatever other synergies might be generated from a third metahuman and various tags mashed together.

There's also other heroes out there whose potencies we don't know but whom we would probably want to use at some point based on reputation and power. Cisma, for instance, maybe Ali Baba... who knows!

I wouldn't worry about exclusively using HA. What I would say is that I'd rather reserve really-high-up-there combos for extremely deadly situations. For instance, a big combo like Apiary + Zeno + Heavenly Astrologian (Matter Creation + Space-time Manipulation + Fundamental Force Manipulation = ???) could end up doing some extremely gnarly stuff.

Just so I have this right, Prevail was trashed enough that the psychic protector was ruined, and Silvio was hit by the Edicts as well?
I think he only has his energy-blades, teleportation, and mental immunity. No supers, and his normal squishy human bits are exposed.

It's just that he and Ellie are both frozen by HA's inertia control, hence why SB had the opportunity to monologue.

I'll admit, while the insane gigacombo that gives a lot of synergies is nice, isn't one of the things we've discovered that the highest Potency of a set matters too?

Would we be worried about the top power being a 6 nerfing Yara? Or are two powerful synergies enough to make up for that?

Hmm...
Wan-O-War + Giant Slayer + LightStep/Anteus=
Giant Ass Weapons going at Light speed/ Causing Eartquakes with each swing.

Automne+ Umibozu+ Novalight = The STORM is approaching...

Hmm any other Dynamite triples you think would be bonkers?

At most that would affect True Telepathy and even then P13 would still boost it like how Mona Invulnerability got boosted too.

Phasewalking would be a giga strong Power since all kw uses all Dna samples for it.

I don't think highest Potency in a set matters, just overall Potency. Basically even a single Invisibility tag at Potency 13 would be broken and come with required secondary powers.

When was this established? If you're talking about Bittermans comment about that one Dynamite build, I think that was less about the specific components and more about the total Potency being low.

Hmm If we give Yara TT & PW we get a telepath and teleporter while Invulnerability should ensure Yara wont die easily in a fight hitting several birds with 1 stone.

That means what we need are

Tank- To charge up Hustle and Protect our squishy members.
Healer- To make sure no one dies.

Healer would probably need some sort of Biokinesis since Im pretty sure Medicants symbiotes are created from Biokinesis too.

So find whats needed for Biokinesis then probably ally empowerment to give heals.

I believe its total Potency that is relevant. The hint was saying that a high potency build would be strong even without any special combo's (and that likewise having good keywords and a low potency will be weaker).

For example someone with potency 10 who only has the Super Strength and Invincibility keywords is still going to be top tier, while someone with all of Mona's keywords who is stuck at Potency 1 is going to be a scrub.

@Bitterman, if we go over the limits for our parahuman roster (For example: if we already have ten and then another Meta joins as a reward for a mission), what happens?
You won't be able to empower them without an open slot. You'll have Global Actions next turn to open up space in the Apiary, but you'll need a second base eventually.
Any external recruits will just not be recruited and need a Global Action to recruit again.
