Aha! So someone does have the superpower of deepfakes!
A. We see what happens in the current timeline with video we saw during christmas.
B. We have a video altering power. Like VERY good video alteration power.
....actually is that a thing? I can totally see something like that in a holiwood. Would make video editing a breeze...

The video warning Hiver/Opale sent wearing you would have mysteriously changed to Opale accusing you of extorting The Four Seasons and warning you to stop threatening her family.

Powers would have used that as proof as well as framing you in other ways.
I mean, given what we know about how good deepfaking is today, you wouldn't even need a superpower to do that, just a good enough ESP/OPS/REP to be able to make it and present it as believable.

Yes, but Wolong at least would be able to go 'no, actually, I can verify via my power that that one is fake'. That would likely mitigate things. The reason the Uiara one is more damning is because several sources have verified it as real somehow.

I imagine the Opale deepfake could have had Moon River go 'yo that is fake as shit'.

While we're on the subject of the no 4s timeline; Bitterman, this scene, or at least part of it, was supposed to be Opale's death scene if we hadn't picked that mission, right?
Gwen shrieks like a banshee. She's next to you, swinging the ax at your next. It's too late to react. But you are content. The witch-girl can get away, at least. Someone will know the truth about Powers.

You just wish . . . someone else would know the truth about you too.

"Harrier!" Gwen cries as she moves to end your life.

You give her a sad smile and say, gently, "That's not my name."

No, they would have used someone else to out electrical burns on her body (to frame LL)
It probably wouldn't help, but I feel like there was a chance we would have just gone 'if I wanted [her] dead I would have just faked her leaving the Four Seasons and also Horizon'/'I would not assassinate someone in such an amateur way'.

Something Something The Sniper, Proffesionals have standards.

PEople that kill other people either:
A. Make it look like an accident or to blame someone.
B. Make a bloody spectacle of it.
C. Wait somebody died?

Hold on, wasn't Sunlight Knight suppose to show up at the interview instead of Seraph?
I mean
Not that they would have been especially helpful today anyhow. Ronin hadn't been able to get in touch with you for longer than a few moments—apparently she was being hounded by the camera crew of Starbright Crusaders to appear on the show—but she had managed to let you know that there had been a last-second change in Crusade's plan for the interviews. Step One appeared to be airing their own dirty laundry before you could.
Ronin failed an ESP roll so we didn't gleam anything more than that, but Seraph's presence was likely what she would've reported

I don't remember exactly... I think it was a general "Crusade can appear" not a specific member?

No, it was suppose to be Stockpile of the Stolen Valour, Gaslighting Hawk, Sunlight Knight & Joules the Sexual Harassment Coward.

"They're planning to appear at the memorial you have planned for next month. They're not so foolish as to interrupt the ceremony, but they've arranged it so Valiant Justice, White Hawk, Sunlight Knight, and Joules will be invited to 'debate' Justice Unlimited during your interview afterward,

The thing that I'm dreading right now is that we failed to confront White Hawk and came out looking worse, and what the aftermath would look like. All because we keep getting bad rolls.

God, why are you such a good writer, @Bitterman? You're so good that whenever something is related to Crusade I start seething with rage... and they've barely been in the story!

Anyway, can't wait for the update.👍

Wait, I had thought that we successfully got Valiant Justice to speak up regarding White Hawk and Seraph's mind-fuckery, but didn't do too well on the debate part.

We at least had one failed REP roll, with the first one being auto-passed by Chihiro (there were about 2 rep rolls iirc). I'd like to think we didn't do too badly, but it is easy to think pessimistically with the dice hating us. And yes, I'm pretty sure we passed the first one on trying to convince Stockpile to speak up.

There was a reason I played a little lose with the rules and let you empower John Henry and Ellie both when you did—because you really wanted to have the EXCEED-BEYOND armor for the end of this turn. Both form what you've seen so far and what's to come.

We didn't even get bad rolls though? Our first roll got rerolled into being an autopass. We probably got a failure on the Rep 6 roll but otherwise I think we consistently got moderate or major success here? Even the 6th roll only needed a +1 to hit moderate.

The only other roll we outright failed was likely the 9th Ops 11 roll, which Bitterman specifically said was meant to be a very high DC so the odds were not in our favor there. And like, I doubt 1 potentially failed rep roll when looking at this all has that major of an impact.

roll 1: Rep 5 (Chihiro autopass)
roll 2: Esp 12
roll 3: Rep 6
roll 4: Ops 17
roll 5: Esp 12
roll 6: Rep with advantage 8 (+1 from Wing to get to moderate)
roll 7: Ops 11
roll 8: Rep 14
roll 9: Ops 11
roll 10: Luck 13

What Pawn Lelouch said - and hell, his summary does not include "roll 0", the initial Rep roll with advantage to get Stockpile to object to White Hawk, which succeeded.

Roll 1 is presumably Chihiro pouncing on this admission - probably making Stockpile confirm it before White Hawk can intervene, or who knows, maybe Juan Bonfim was going to cut to commercials to save Crusade and Chihiro overrode him and threw back the "we're still live" comment back in his face.

Barring a low DC or unexpected bonuses, Roll 3 is probably a straight-up failure, but given the narrative flow I don't expect it to be catastrophic. Maybe we are unable to rhetorically riposte to whatever bullshit they throw our way? But the last Rep roll, Roll 8, is pretty decent, and probably the conclusion to the debate.

I'm going to put my money on Roll 6 being a chance to increase Lady Leizi's Reputation, and Roll 8 is counterattacking Crusade's claims. That, or the other way around.
