Now send the void dragon to shadowrun XD Hope to see more of the edgerunners fleshed out seems like it would be really good. Interested in how his systems working with the world. The dxd one in interesting too and i would be down to read it too if you felt like writing more of it

Worlds Alchemist would HATE to be in:

="Naruto": Semi-justifiable reason as Al is weak to speedsters and every ninja above mid-Chuunin rank has sufficient superhuman speed to ambush him (if he is taken unaware or off-guard).

=50/50 if Al would hate being in "the Last Airbender" or not.

=Evangelion.

=One Piece.

=Marvel comics or the Marvel Cinema Universe.

Al: (running away from Rogue)
Rogue: "GET BACK HERE AND KISS ME!!!"
Al: (still running) "I'm in a committed relationship!"
Rogue: "DON'T CARE!!! I WANT MEH KISSES!!!"

will you be continuing the edgerunners series?

When I'm inspired, absolutely. I can't recall exactly when but I know that Ghost in the City over on Spacebattles, AO3 and Royal Road hit around the same time the Edgerunners ideas did and I don't want to muddy things too badly. Seras over there is doing a fantastic job, though, and I really cannot recommend their stories enough.

Does Al have magic in this short.

I think I answered this on the other thread: Yes.

However, as we've seen here, he doesn't necessarily need it. Utilizing the tools provided in-universe, it's entirely possible to be OP provided you take the time to prepare. Unless he was fighting Adam Smasher himself, Al is picking his battles and taking the time to observe and plan what he's doing.

Pretty accurate. Most of those would involve Al committing regicide or its equivalent in short order.

The big issue with Avatar is that you're spot on... And he'd oscillate between both extremes whilst inside the reality.

Bending: Cool
Maintaining your martial arts to remain good at bending: Not so cool.
Spirits: Mixed
Ozai: -Censored-
Iroh: Cool

Iroh: life is like a recipe of many ingredients, you must use all of them, even the ones you don't like or could ever take alone, yet together they form something truly worth waiting for

Al: is that an actual saying or did you smell the red braised pork in the other room

Iroh: *smiling* whose to say really

Honestly Alchemist would 100% kill Ozai and accidentally become the BBEG of the series if he found himself in Avatar

He would definitely grumble and bitch about having to do martial arts to bend, but he would deal. The natural and non interactive spirits would get a shrug, the active antagonistic spirits would quickly learn to avoid him. Ozai probably gets shot in the shoulders and hip joints before getting a reasons you suck speech and kicked awake every time he passes out while being healed just enough to stay alive before fully healing him and extracting his soul. Then he probably tries to help Azula. Iroh would probably be the one member of fire nation royalty he actually likes, and would probably offer him some perfected jade blossom tea leaves for the sole reason of that wouldn't be fucking with who becomes heir when he dies. Early Zuko probably gets regularly slapped upside the head for being stupid, late Zuko gets advice on how to teach.

Now for the gAang. Aang gets limited grief counseling (how the fuck do you grieve for a dead culture?). Katara probably gets general type recipes and advice on how to get Aang to notice. Sokka gets engineering books dumped on him because he actually enjoys the subject matter. About all I can think of for Toph is either braille books and how to read them, or a unique bit of rock or metal to keep her entertained during the flights they regularly take.

In the anime verse Alec has a busted inventory. So instead of braille he'd probably just heal her eyes. No reason not to when she can wear a blindfold whenever she wants.

Haven't watched Edgerunner yet, but I really like the tech/data ideas behind it all and seeing Al being so methodical and OP while only using the in-setting "abilities" is awesome.

It really made me wonder what it'd look like from his perspective, not super interested in David beyond a supporting character, and how the corporations/gangs/other mercs all think about this badass chameleon, just blending in, hard to find and only really noticeable from the after effects of a job.

Kinda wish he went full borg and became a data-being with a robot body because I reckon it'd look awesome, but going the other way is pretty cool as well.

Or just straight up fix Toph's Eyesight.

If Toph is blind from birth I don't know how the healing would go. All of the brain parts that in a healthy person are used to interpret sight, in hers have long since been repurposed for hearing, touch, maybe her echolocation and other things. It's like sticking a pair of wings in the back of a forty years old man, they'd never adapt, except the eyes are even worse because her brain has absolutely no reference point to interpret all of that "junk data" from the newly working peepers.

Or maybe Alec's healing magically makes it so her brain can interpret sight from zero, I don't know.

Also maybe she doesn't want her eyes healed.
thats also an option.

Also i think Bending requiring martial arts is kind of like training wheels? i.e Bumi

Anime Adjacent: PokeMon 16
Sirius yawned widely as the humans talked, bored and tired from the long trek.

It was fun, a lot of fun, but his human had insisted on sleeping out under the stars most nights when it wasn't raining and Sirius had gotten a taste of what it was like to sleep under a roof. It was a bit too cramped at first, the lack of night sky was uncomfortable but the surety of warmth and dryness was beyond compare.

The dog PokéMon sat patiently as the humans talked, the little green ghostly serpent, Zeph, fluttering about his human's clothes. She enjoyed acting as though they were some kind of cave system, popping out at random from one hole or another.

"Now, then." The old, gray human asked his after sitting a hot pot down on a table in between himself and Sirius's human. "Alec. While I am willing to hire you as a field assistant, I do have to justify your position to my own sponsors in the PokéMon League. Two unevolved- Your...?"

"Dreepy." Sirius's human answered the elder. "And yes, this is her first stage."

"Fascinating. I'm unfamiliar with her species, I'm afraid- Anyway, two unevolved PokéMon and no badges would make for a rather unimpressive argument to the League. As you might imagine, that could well lead to further assessments and audits to myself and my practices." Sirius perked up as the old human lifted the pot but drooped in disappointment when he saw that the man was pouring out liquid. The dog's tail did begin to wag, though, when a small saucer of bitter-sweet liquid was placed down for him. "In and of itself that's hardly a problem. Much of my research involves observation rather than anything requiring any more demanding practices, everything is thoroughly above-board but the time it would take to gather everything up- I say, I may need a time traveling PokéMon just to get everything together!"

"Honestly?" Sirius's human asked, lifting his own small cup full of the same liquid that Sirius was currently enjoying. "I was expecting to get turned away at the door. I'm going to guess that what you want me to do, in the immediate future, is to gather up a number of badges to prove I'm competent at working with PokéMon and not a total waste of resources?"

"You're a rather direct individual, aren't you?" Sirius snorted into his drink, stifling a laugh at the question. His human reeked of Dragons, much as he felt like some ethereal Ghost. The old one saw his human being direct because that's what he chose to be. "Given the usual politics in the League, that's very refreshing. But, to answer your question, yes. In order for me to justify your employment, I will need for you to gather at least the basic credentials outlined in the job offer."

"Alright." His human answered, holding up his own cup of liquid so that Zeph could bury her head into it and drink greedily. "Do you want me to stop at four or is there any reason I should keep going for more afterwards?"

"...Do you think you could complete the whole circuit?" The graying human asked, raising one hand and rubbing his chin. "I suppose I might be able to convince a few people I know in the League to offer up some incentives. Call it a sort of investment into an asset. Having an assistant that's Conference-capable would certainly be helpful..."

Sirius listened intently. He didn't understand what everything meant but he did get the gist that the old human was asking his human to take him out to battle stronger and stronger opponents. The prospect was incredibly exciting.

But that didn't answer the immediate issue Sirius was having.

The black and white dog picked up its empty saucer at the edge with its mouth and walked up to the old human and sat down before pawing at his leg.

He wanted more of the funny tasting water.

The old human leaned over, curiosity clear on its aged face before picking up the saucer with a quiet 'Ah' and refilling it.

"I'm certainly willing to try." Sirius's human answered. "And I'm sure these two would be happy to get the experience under their belts. Possibly this one, too, when it hatches."

Sirius could hear the shuffling of fabric and then a quiet, gentle 'Thud' as his human placed the bag with the egg on the table. Sirius had tried to figure out what kind of egg it was but he didn't recognize the smell and the colors weren't right. At the least, he could definitely say that while it smelled like Fire, it wasn't a Growlithe or Ponyta egg.

He'd heard of these PokéMon called Magmar but he didn't know what one of those would smell like.

"An egg?" The old human asked, his chair creaking loudly as he leaned forward.

"A sailor tried to toss it into the sea at Vermilion." Sirius's human explained. "I objected."

"...That's a crime. A very serious one." The words were quiet, grave.

"Saving an egg?" And his human seemed very confused.

"No, disposing of an egg like that." The old human sounded... Sad. Sad and angry. "In the event of an unwanted egg, a trainer is legally obligated to take it to the nearest PokéMon center. A PokéMon Egg isn't like one from a duck or chicken, there are some studies actually suggesting that PokéMon eggs are actually aware of their surroundings on some level. Disposing of an egg in such a fashion is less serious than attempting to kill a PokéMon or person but it can still carry a very significant fine as well as leave a mark against that person's record with the League. Who did you say attempted to dispose of it?"

"...A sailor. I didn't get his name." His human sounded equally unhappy as the old man and Sirius understood. While he and his pack could, would and did eat unattended Eggs, that was a matter of survival. Breaking one for no reason was... Incomprehensible for him. "I was half-drowned by the time I got back to the surface of the water and had to get pulled out on a life preserver. The guy tried to take the Egg back and throw it back into the water but I made sure that didn't happen."

"Good." The old man sounded... Vindictively pleased. An emotion Sirius was well acquainted with. "I suppose we'll need to formalize a few things. Get some paperwork out of the way, get things properly filed. Before we move any further forward, do you have any questions for me?"

"Actually, yeah." His human responded, shuffling around in the same bag the egg had been in. "I picked up a bunch of these TMs a while back but I don't know how to use them. Would you mind explaining it?"

The old human chuckled and a subtle Pressure that had filled the room faded away. Sirius could only notice it now due to its absence, the strength paling in comparison to what he'd felt on the shore of Vermilion when his human had dove into the murky waters.

"Of course!" The old man exclaimed, standing up and pushing his chair away from the table. "In fact, why don't we take care of that and your paperwork at the same time? I believe that's a 'Flamethrower' TM and I'm quite sure your Houndour would love to have that move at its disposal!"

"Alright." Sirius's human stood up as well, his chair scraping quietly against the ground. "Come on, Sirius. Let's teach you something new."

Sirius looked down to the half-full saucer he'd been drinking from, then up to his trainer.

On the one paw, the stuff was really, really good.

On the other, his trainer had explained to him that Flamethrower was kind of like the Dark laser he'd been working on, using against the hungry psychic pig-beasts in the forests. It was a direct and forceful attack.

Made of fire.

And he really, really liked fire.

Deciding he could just beg the old human for more tasty water later, he bounded off after his trainer with an excited "Hound!"

More fire was always better fire!

Red and Black and fire type. Coming from a ship. Could be a litten egg.

The fact the sailor said he already had plenty. I'm guessing it's a 'ship's cat' situation.

Yeah but the robot battle show really taught me how important the heat temperature was over the volume of the flames. Nothing feels worse than flooding a room full of fire and seeing nothing actually burn afterwards... But if you make a single jet of fire that's hot enough? You can make stuff just vanish when it comes in contact!

Be the best of both worlds.
The sun is not only concentrated heat but it has reached the point where the amount it releases is so small in comparison that keeping it contained only mitigates damage.

Turn the environment to your favour. Groudons mega evolution can remove any and all water abilities (Yet not ice type?) and enhances fire type attacks - And I imagine that a flamethrower used in an evironment where the air is starting to catch fire is more effective.
[Burning Field, Super-Heated Field]

Oooo. That's actually a neat idea for why there's type specialists beyond diets and training. If an ice type specialist consistently created snow along with the occasional blizzard, it's going to be far colder and moves like blizzard will likely be more cost effective.
[Icy Field]

Would Siru's dark typing make him more malicious/cruel, or would his intelligence and pack oriented heritage make him more empathetic? Just thinking about his reaction to the egg breaker. Cats will break things and torture animals for their amusement, and id assume a hound would be… meaner? He's kinda just a good boy
