Nobody's betrayed Alchemist.
Except Al chose to place some trust in Legend. He sat and talked and gave information freely, and Legend betrayed that trust. Good luck getting that again.

Al told him he'd taken out a number of existential threats to humanity that Legend didn't even know about (that Cauldron was actively strengthening), and apparently that wasn't good enough to show him that Al was actually working towards good ends. Not enough to keep from trying to take him out, at least.

the Eye actually stank of alcohol.

So this mean the Eye is constantly drunk... Everything makes sense now.

Ah .. that makes much more sense now. He WOULD be very useful for rebuilding efforts, I can understand the motivation to saving the bastard now.

So Legend really did betray Alec.

Wow. I guess he really does belong in Cauldron.

I didnt know Legend worked with Alec, this is news to me.

More likely contessa just pathed a way to convincing Legend into doing this, vause abbadon sucks like that. Not like it matters since he dead.

I... Honestly hope contessa isnt dead, it would be very interesting seeing a de powered contessa around, and I do kinda feel bad for her, she was just used and manipulated by her power when all she wanted was to save everything.

Unfortunately the only way to save the people of the wormverse is to completely kill every shard, otherwise the surviving shards will just try and form a new entity. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Man, the Entangled MASS-Multi-cast meteor is amazing.

Normally, I wouldn't bet on an Entity being killed by kinetic force, but in this case?
With (presumably) each shard individually being whacked by the kinetic force on a vector it had no reason to expect to be damaged by/ no experience with.

...Yeah, I'd be willing to bet The third Entity is dead, with maybe some kinetically specialised Shards having survived.

Sad fragile one noises.

Well lets hope it is, either dead or just pissed off.

Worm Version 0.9.2: Character Sheet

Except Al chose to place some trust in Legend. He sat and talked and gave information freely, and Legend betrayed that trust. Good luck getting that again.

Al told him he'd taken out a number of existential threats to humanity that Legend didn't even know about (that Cauldron was actively strengthening), and apparently that wasn't good enough to show him that Al was actually working towards good ends. Not enough to keep from trying to take him out, at least.
But he didn't though? He gave Legend information...about Cauldron. And the nature of Passengers. And some other random crap that even Cauldron didn't know about (because even if they're responsible for a lot of shit, unless the Eye is specifically poking them to look at something they don't usually know all the manifold consequences of their frankly overwhelming operations).

What, exactly, did he share with Legend (and Legend specifically and not the world at large or any who asked) about himself? About things that mattered to him, or would damage his own priorities? Because I can't think of anything. Alchemist showed respect to Legend by letting him know about things he knew the man would care about...but respect is not the same as trust. Nor is it something that can be 'betrayed', only gained or lost (which, notably, I think the chapter mentioned it was reduced).

I deleted the afore-mentioned giant post about Cauldron because to be honest...that post and all it's arguments have been debated to death here and everywhere else (and that doubly counts for every iteration of 'Cauldron is evil/incompetent/useless and all deserve to die before they can even deal with Zion.')

But for this? I can only think there's some projection going on here on the part of readers from sympathy that they generated after seeing Legend in a more positive light and getting multiple sympathetic interludes only to have their expectations of him 'betrayed' when Legend...acted completely logically and in-line with his canon depiction when he prioritized what he thinks is the best chance of saving the world. Especially when he almost certainly doesn't know what precisely Teacher has been up to (frankly, it's not clear ANY of Cauldron bothered keeping track of him once they tossed him in the Cage and were reassured by the Eye that he'd still be alive and useful later, they all have far too much shit on their plate), and he's already (correctly) started on the path of removing the worst rot of pointless hard-(wo)men making hard decisions in the organization. More then that though, and per the latest chapter...this intervention wasn't his idea, he just went along with his closest friends and allies (that he TRUSTS), and it also seems like they weren't actually trying to kill or overly harm Alec. Just stop him from 'irrationally' breaking a useful tool before it was disposable, and also bring him into a dialogue (in the only, shitty strong-arming method they know how to do without being hand-held by PTV).

Let's be real here. Legend is (almost certainly) betraying his own moral code...but he set that as secondary to the ultimate goal of killing Zion and saving humanity literal decades ago. He's not betraying anything or anyONE new with the last few chapters.

Edit: Well, he arguably betrayed Doctor Mother when he vaporized her brains...but his reasoning is she betrayed him, Cauldron, and frankly Humanity at large first when she kept him out of the loop on decision-making, and then started making decisions that didn't actually contribute all that much to priority 1 of saving humanity and thoroughly violated priority 2 of having an ethical standard, therefore that wasn't a betrayal.

I agree with pretty much all of this.

That's what I've been thinking and the two Entities that arrived on Earth had been multiplying at every world that they destroyed. As it stands, life in the Earth Bet universe has a very limited shelf life.

Eh, I would have put-

Contrary to what they may think, it's not actually their job to keep Earth Bet stable. There is, after all, a reason why we got rid of dictatorships (it's a Work in Progress) and Cauldron is a good example of that.

Oh, that movie. Ok that makes more sense.
