I really do hope this conversation isn't over. Legend really should ask for clarifications on a number of things, including Al himself, and he also needs to know about Cauldron propping up sooooo many human rights and Geneva Convention violations. The Yangban, S9, and Gesellschaft alone...

Also, the source of the Endbringers, their original functions, how they currently function, their weaknesses, and why (and how) killing them without knowing all of that is a very, very bad idea.

And in addition to that, the fact that Cauldron are absolutely pushing the Entities' agenda of creating as much suffering and as many parahumans as possible.

*tinkers the most devastating item in worm*
"Behold! The ClueBat" [holds up a spiked club that bestows common sense for 1D6 hours, along with 1D6 bludgeoning damage]

That is in fact the second most devastating item in worm. The most devastating gives common sense for 1D6 hours, and a sense of morals for the same 1D6 hours, so people can understand what their idiocy has done.

"The man wasted his 'full strength'," Apollyon said with an acidic hiss. "He could have used a jet pack to keep his flight charge in reserve.

The reason he ran out of energy is the Endbringers, who were eating his shard's reserves like crazy. Its why he thinks he can get stronger when he's near them. Canonically, he can sense a 'well' of power when they're near, and he was able to tell or at least suspect that Noelle wasn't a real Endbringer because of the difference in feeling.

Minutiae, of course, but something to keep in mind: we've only ever seen two shards have problems with energy, Eidolon and Doormaker, and Doormaker was Queen Administrated into making billions of interdimensional portals in a very short time frame. Considering the relative newness of powers when Behemoth showed up, Eidolon running out of charge for his abilities was a massive black swan event. His power also doesn't just give him what he asks it, the result is pseudo random and entirely at the shard's whim, which complicates the issue of saving the powerful stuff for later.

I mean, absolutely take shots at him for being morally bankrupt, and misgivings over what he'd use his power for are well founded, but its not like the guy doesn't live with his power 24/7. If there was an easy way to save his super disintegration power for the big fights, he's done it, and its run out anyways because the big fights happen every couple months and he's been at this for decades.

It does feel a bit like "Leet wasted his potential." Get a tinker power and play with it, but almost no one is going to immediately cotton onto the whole "First one is free" catch of his power, especially if they are exploring the "what can't I make?" aspect.

The best thing for Al to do is to make things that make things. Basically produce machines that make the things he wants, so the finished products are always the best they can be.

Don't make a candle; make a candle-maker! Best candles for everyone!

But that's an exploit one does if they are already aware of the limitations of the power.

The point is that Eidolon "wasted his 'full strength'" in the same way that L33t "wasted his 'full potential.'" which is to say that their powers were never going to be leveraged to its fullest simply because that's the nature of the setting.

Like, I'm sure that Eidolon could get some of the most potent Thinker powers, but Worm being Worm, it would likely result in some ultra-depression (because that's the kind of place Worm is) and he's already tried suicide once and failed only because he was physically incapable of going through with it...

Eh while he doesn't control what he gets he can reroll any of the 3 whenever he wants he also always makes sure he always has some big flashy power like gravity control that gives him flight and other stuff on top of it. Those powers do probably drain more and it does make it fair to blame him for his flight powers running out.

While I'm sure he could be flying around on a jetpack (made by who? Some rando tinker that's going to need to stick by Eidolon for the rest of his career?Gonna have to find one that won't resent living in Eidolon's shadow forever.) that wouldn't necessarily "save" his flight powers. Like you said, gravity control is a big flashy power that doesn't just give him flight.

He could also simply do without flight he doesn't need to always have it unlike how he always has a brute power up which makes sense but he could easily use other transport like the jetpack or motorbike or even just land and fight on the ground.

I suppose I can't forget the stupid-as-fuck "scientific experiment" in Brockton Bay, where, if anything gives them data they don't like, they capture, torture, or outright murder the ones responsible, even if it's a perfectly viable result. But they don't like it, so it's time to attack a warlord/humanitarian/teenage girl at her school, then proceed to torture her after she's already given herself up.

So, like, I'm just running along near the docks for my morning jog and I saw something kinda weird.

The boat graveyard? It didn't look right. Took me forever to figure out what whas going on! It didn't make any sense until the sun started to rise and then I saw, well, take a look!

-attached PNG-

The big oil tanker blocking the mouth of the Bay's gone! And there was something sitting on the prow of one of the foundered ships!

-zoom.png-

We've all seen that glitchy video where something disappeared Lung. I may have made a few socks nice and crusty myself thanks to it. But I gotta ask- Does that thing on the ship look like the creature that ganked Lung?

Kinda? It was really hard to make anything out in the Lung video.
Also?
Gross.

Huh, neat. That's a good shot. If you're still around then you should take another picture real quick. Look, I'm holding my hand up.

Oh my god!

Guys! Chekc it out!

-zoom.png-

Are you the thing at the boat graveyard?! What happened to the oil tanker?!

► Astral_Phantom
Replied on February 5, 2011:
Rude. I'm not a thing.

Also. Yes. Obviously.

The tanker is currently about... thirty kilometers out to sea. Not sure what I should do with it, honestly.

Anybody know someone interested in buying a mint-condition oil tanker?

Also. Everybody who saw that picture? I now owe you a punch.

...Did you just admit to stealing a whole oil tanker? On a public forum?

► Astral_Phantom (Unverified Cape)
Replied on February 5, 2011:
Under Massachusetts state law, any property which has been neglected by the original owner for a period of three or more years is considered abandoned.

As such, I did not 'steal' the oil tanker or any of the other boats which I've repaired and removed from the bay. If the original owners would like to contact me, or have their lawyers do so, that's honestly just too damned bad.

If anyone would like to make a trade deal, I will consider all reasonable offers for-

1 205 meter long oil tanker
3 fishing boats of various lengths (Message me for details)
2 tug boats
1 junk
1 small cargo hauler
1 large cargo hauler
and, like, a dozen small yachts.

Hey, @Astral_Phantom!

Saw the other thread that you're hanging out online and supposedly the thing hanging out in the bay. Don't suppose you'd be willing to answer some questions, would you?

Why the name 'Astral Phantom'?
What did you do with those ships?
What are your plans for Brockton Bay?

(Showing Page 1 of 1)

► Specific Protagonist (Cape Groupie)
Replied on February 5, 2011:
I, for one, welcome our new dragon overlord!

► Astral_Phantom (Unverified Cape)
Replied on February 5, 2011:
The name is a reference to what I am and how I came to be what I am.
Also. Space Ghost is still held under copyright and I don't want to fight with Hannah Barberra's lawyers. They taste terrible.

I repaired the ships and they're currently anchored out to sea. I've already been accused of stealing them and, if Mayor Christner really wants me to put them back in the bay, I might consider it.

Oh. Wait. No, no I won't.

I don't have any plans for me. What makes you think I have plans for Brockton Bay? I kind of just keep circling back against my will.

► Allseeing Eye (Original Poster)
Replied on February 5, 2011:
Gonna be honest. Was not expecting you to actually respond.

So, got a few more questions from the local peanut gallery!

Do you like dogs?

What are you even doing here?

What is the secret to your power?

► Astral_Phantom
Replied on February 5, 2011:
I love dogs. I've got my own firebreathing hellhound that I taught how to teleport and she's been a literal nightmare for people ever since.

I'm trying to destress. Recently got caught up in a huge mess that needed cleaned up and it's going to get messier before it gets better. I don't eat or sleep well when I get anxious so I'm trying to do something productive until I end up crashing somewhere. Since I was already in Brockton Bay and the whole boat graveyard was a thing, I figured 'Why not?'

As to my power? Well, Tattletale, the answer is very simple. Reality says one thing, I say something different, and one of us has the strength to enforce our will. I just learned how to win that little argument.

Mind if I ask a question of my own?

How many Coils are there at a time?

(It's 1! He just thinks there's 2)

And that's my cue.

Astral Phantom, you can take a temporary ban and maybe take a moment to reread our rules on tempting villains. They have a habit of hacking PHO when someone goes out of their way to poke at them.

Allseeing Eye, this thread is locked and you'll be enjoying another infraction on your account. Please see the same rules that Astral Phantom will be reviewing.

Do not tempt villains, people! How many times do I have to repeat that?!
End of Page. 1

Huh, i wonder if that clue would be enough for her power to understand Coil's.
i doubt it, but still xD

Thanks for the chapter!
Always entertaining to see PHO xD

Personally, I always had the same argument for the boat graveyard

" these ships have been on legal limbo for years, with billion dollar fines going for whomever is unfortunate enough to actually be declared to own them, so anyone that presses charges for theft will be considered the legal owner by the judges and be settled with the fines worth multiple times the price of the ships"

like honestly the PRT can't afford to press charges because it's billion of dollars they might get on the hook for, not to mention the bad PR

I'm honestly waiting for coil to poke the dragon and said dragon goes nom.
Well, here's the thing: based on how Coil's power is said to work by WB in a WoG, and how Alec's blindspots power works, Coil cannot perceive Alec or any of the knock on effects of Alec's actions since he "split" time, as those split timelines are technically two simulations, which means to do anything about Alec at all, Coil would have to not use his power

Why was Lisa dinged? Alchemist isn't a confirmed villan. Tattletale is the name of a known villan so he clearly showed broke the rules when he used her name, but at the moment all Alchemy is is a confirmed parahuman dragon.

I just had a pretty crazy thought. Where was it ever stated that Coil's power has a function to eject Coil from his simulation? Or that it would stop piloting his body if the simulation turns out to be wrong?

So the question is would Coil's power compensate for the blind spot well enough….. or if say, a door that should have been open was actually closed due to butterfly wings of Alec mucking about. Would Coil wake up as if in a haze? Or would his coworkers walk in to watch Coil mindlessly mashing himself against a door and the walls acting out various tasks talking nonsensical gibberish as his body attempts to pilot through his predetermined simulation?

Keep in mind to my knowledge Coil has a dead shard….At what point does he lose the ability to compensate?

That would be a hilarious way for him to get caught.

Maybe because Dragon considers Al to be a villain, what with all the "murder" to save innocent people from being brutalized and killed, and all.

But it's not legally "defense of others" because the "others" don't have powers and so aren't important.

Because Worm doesn't know how things like "fair and equitable laws" work.
