Maybe I'm just an unlucky SOB, but this is the only quest I've seen where any players got pissed at the QM for not updating. Not the normal stuff, no 'oh gee, I wish this would update', 'Man, I'm bummed this died', or even 'it's upsetting how so many stories and quests just die unfinished'.

Legitimate. Anger. From more than just a handful of people over the time a return was first been teased. And I don't know how to feel about it.

I've talked before in this thread about how the norms for fanfic and quests. While it was implied before, I'll make it clear: I intensely dislike the ever-growing graveyard of half-formed and never-born stories that litter the internet. I'd rather creators pick up and carry things through to the end. But vocal angry fans disappointed in the product they got is not always the best way to get positive change. Sometimes backlash in the big entertainment scene has lead to improvements and changes, but the concern is always there about the line between acceptable and unacceptable behavior on the 'net. And how that line is often little more than a social construct by a small group of people, unreflective of actual good sense. So in a situation where an upset consumer only has posting on an internet forum as a method to voice their disapproval and try to affect a change, I don't know if the hill we're going over is going to have rolling green fields or a sheer drop off a cliff.

So now the ball's really in Konamikode's court. He's got all the info we here on SV don't. He knows his own capabilities, he knows the dissatisfaction people have, and the pull between his commissioned work and the freebie passion projects like this. Unless someone here has insight into these all play together and can be resolved, the situation is ultimately no different from all the way back in February.

Only Konamikode has say in what gets done.

Whats the problem?

If any of you checked QQ you'll see he was busy practicing writing about the VC world as of late.

Besides, gives us more time to read everything else and totally not procrastinate on other things.

I honestly didn't know about QQ until a few days ago, and yes, I am binging what he wrote there as I type.

huh. Legit missed that.

Gotta keep the lights on Motherbase running SOMEHOW I guess.
I did mention this before:
the pull between his commissioned work and the freebie passion projects like this
It's rarely a lack of motivation that kills projects. But once a writer gets a running of commissions going, that doesn't always mean he can just call it a full-time job. Going by the Patreon goals, he's not quite at the level of 'part time job'. But he does having a system where the patreons vote for what gets updated next.

Everything changes once money starts changing hands. The person taking money is obligated, both by alot of law and usually their own creative and grateful nature, to give them something worth the other side's hard-earned cash. So not only do the paying people get more of a say in what he does than we freebies over here, but their stuff comes first... and because Konamikode's Patreon advertises more of his NSFW stuff than the SFW stuff, the very addicted and highly fetishized folks over on QQ shovel whatever neetbucks they have at their preferred smut-crack dealer.

It's an awkward zone that can't really be left until the lifestyle gets restructured to handle a full job, a part-time job, a hobby, and personal time. Or the writing does become the full job, and the list of things drops down to 3. Or he drops back to the plebian hobby approach, but that'd mean giving up money.

Eh I'm mixed on it. The 3 Turns were something I really liked. Gave us a little time to prepare before the supposed change over and let us have some fun and do some last minute changes in the Metal Gear world.

The Emergency Op is where things spiraled out of control and just draaaaaaagged on.

I haven't had any issues with how the quest has been going. Sure, I'd love it if konamikode updated it more frequently, but that's up to him, no me.

Then again, I also follow BAHHSCQ, so I have basically infinite patience.

I guess what I'm saying is: konamikode, just work at whatever pace works best for you. I'll still be here whenever an update happens.

These people have no idea what waiting really is do they?

That konamikode is updating is enough for me.

Don't think there's a update coming anymore. It's been how many months already?
