Sabina's entrance to the room was actually a little awkward, since you'd been keeping your thermal senses tightly reigned in you had completely missed her presence in the bathroom, leaving you feeling a little bad about just
forgetting her entirely. Still, you didn't display your awkwardness, instead greeting her with a smile as she hovered nearby the group a little timidly. She glances at your encouraging smile before taking a deep breath, sliding into the open seat next to Morgan who immediately begins on trying to work her into their conversation.
Daiyu had obviously taken the chance to pull her aside and warn her of Sabina's...
issues beforehand, because she handily tip-toes around them with a grace that leaves you a little awed. Honestly, watching her work her magic from outside the conversation for once was an experience.
Seeing that Una had fallen asleep against you, it was getting pretty late, you take a quick trip to put her to bed. You were a little surprised by the fact that she let go of you so easily when you put her down, normally she would have tried her best to drag you into bed
with her. Seeing her actually let go of you on her own, even in her sleep, left a little hollow feeling in your chest. The fact that she immediately snatched your pillow and started burrowing into it helped, but you had suddenly realised that she had changed while you had been busy.
She looks like she's grown a little, her hair becoming a little more frazzled without you there to brush it in the mornings.
Have... have I been neglecting her? Not giving her enough attention lately? You stare down at her for a long time, watching her familiar little twitches and cute noises, almost in a trance.
You don't jump when you feel Daiyu step up next to you, rubbing sleep out of one of her eyes as she stands there quietly, just being there.
You turn to look at her out of the corner of your eye, her back straightening slightly as your vision settles on her, one of her fingers gently playing with the hem of her shirt. "We are going to take a few days off, unless an emergency pops up. No missions, no investigations, no training. We've earned a little downtime." She doesn't say anything, but she nods firmly, accepting your words silently. You feel her relax when you turn back to your sister, shifting a little closer to you until your arms brush, the warm touch sending little tingles up your arm.
Neither of you speak for the next long while, though eventually you both make your way back to the Living Room by silent consensus. The sight that awaits you brings a smile to your face, Sabina leaning on the table with one arm, using her other to gesture wildly as she happily argues with Morgan about something. The most you can pick out of their conversation is that it has something to do with the validity of using a sword against certain types of material and how magic can effect the flexibility of a sword in combat.
You leave the two of them to their argument, joining Cuifen on the sofa, accepting a cup of tea with a quiet thanks, Daiyu settling in with hers next to you.
You pick up a book you'd left on the coffee table before all of this had kicked off, leaning back into your seat and flicking the pages open to your bookmark. Daiyu quietly settles against you and closes her eyes, your warmth quickly lulls her back to sleep and you only manage another ten pages before a long yawn pulls at you, gently coaxing you to sleep.
/LINE BREAK\
You are awoken by a quiet snickering, the noise makes you blearily open your eyes as they hone in on the person responsible.
Sabina is leaning back in the sofa next to yours, trying valiantly to muffle her laughter as she stares at you. You absentmindedly shift Daiyu so that her elbow isn't digging into your ribs and brush some of her hair out of your eyes, not really understanding why Sabina's muffled cackling intensifies further. Morgan helpfully walks over and pokes her in the back of the neck, whispering something to her that seems to finally make her laughter calm down, even if it made all of the colour in her face rush away.
Strange girl. You coax a reluctant Daiyu from the depths of her slumber, she's evidently still tired after her long stretch of not sleeping, but hopefully she's actually had enough sleep to be somewhat functional now. The two of you sleepily make your way to the table, a fresh bowl of weetabix prepared for you. You don't exactly know what it is and while it's a little strange to eat, it tastes good.
You finish your bowl quickly, Daiyu not far behind, and thank Morgan for the breakfast. You quietly walk into your room, through the almost barren Living Room and into the bedroom. Una is still asleep, so you take the opportunity to gently wake her, her bleary eyes searching through space until they find you. The bright smile on her face as the first thing she sees upon waking is you warms your heart. You gently corral her into the bath, taking an extra long bath, making sure to give her hair the attention it's been missing before.
You both emerge, hair still dripping wet and with bright smiles on your faces as you dry her hair. You throw on your underwear then amble back into Morgan's side, well, it felt more like the
only side these days. You just slept somewhere else.
Morgan greets you with a smile as you finish drying Una's hair, letting her wrap herself in her towel like an enormous cape. You take the opportunity to stretch your back, still a little stiff from last night, even with your long soak. You spine lets out a long series of pops and cracks that makes you let out a long moan, your stomach pulling taught and something shifting back into position.
Aaaaahhhhhhh, that's better.
A strange noise from your side draws your eyes to the sofas. Daiyu was staring up at you with wide eyes as the hairbrush drops from her limp fingers into her lap, while Sabina was coughing through her tea. You send a sideways look at Cuifen, but she just smiles at you strangely, a twinkle in her eye as Morgan flicks Sabina in the ear, stepping closer to you as her target flinches. "Wow Cerys, you've put on some muscle lately."
You bring your arms back from their stretched position above your head, staring between them, your legs and your stomach curiously.
Huh, I have actually. There was a faint outline of muscle in your stomach, while your arms and legs actually had a little bit of muscle along them. Not much, but just enough to give them a little definition, rather than look bulky. "Huh, I guess that workout regime works after all." You hear a quiet mutter of '
I'll say' from the sofas and see Morgan threateningly hold a primed finger towards Sabina.
Cuifen gently takes the hairbrush from her sister's limp fingers, starting on her hair for her as she speaks. "Perhaps you get dressed now Cerys, don't want catch cold mmm?" You almost comment about not being
able to get cold, but something in her voice persuades you to go back to your room, throwing on a pair of shorts and a loose red t-shirt that you don't remember buying.
"Alright then, since we're taking a break." You see Morgan's eyebrow raise at that. "What are we going to do?"
