Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

[ ] Try and heal yourself before moving on
Well this all looks gucci, lets get on with extracting our self from this mess.

Also @Rukia can we get an interlude from the after action report?

I want to see their (and the military's) reaction to a mysterious black box that has been melted down to slag by the fire. Its going to make some FBI? maybe? Heads spin.

So we have a fire, started by an... incendiary device? Some kind of thermal high explosive. In a house with a strange black box filled with electrical do dads and various other signs of questionable activity. That used to contain something. In a town that has been attacked by a gigantic fuck off huge monster that also like to set things on fire.

We have two young girls fleeing the house, one of whom was able to outrun a trained soldier while carrying another human being and after being shot twice.

Somebody gonna have a freaking seizure at this rate.

Sorry, misremembered this

as being complete control over our fire.
I think from the chapter it looked like we stood in the house until it completely ablaze, but you're saying that wasn't actually how Cerys planned for things to happen? Because that was pretty much the only thing that bothered me here.
Your Aura doesn't so much start fires as it changes the states of things. They go from 'not on fire' to 'on fire'

That is indeed roughly what is happening over at HQ.
I might write another section from their POV, but not so soon after this one.

So we're still stuck in an awful situation where we're almost on death's door and will soon face the fact that the military will more then likely send out patrols.... all because of a misunderstanding. Our first death is going to be because of a misunderstanding.

I'm bothered by the fact you said it was fine to have simple votes like this but contrary to what actually happened we're being punished for having a simple vote. All because we didn't specify how to start a fire.

-[X] If the military catches up to you again surrender.
"-[X] Go out with Una to buy luggage bags and some clothes. If you and Una don't have wallets buy one for each of you"
[X] Split up slightly, make sure that your sister and you stay in sight of each other but keep enough distance that you won't hurt her if something goes wrong.
-[X] Get moving, use reinforcement to keep the pain down and work on multitasking by practicing regeneration at the same time, try to get your injuries healed.
--[X] Keep on the move until dark but if you do get found by the military just surrender at this point. This whole thing has been way too much of a misunderstanding and getting shot at some more is a bad plan. Maybe have Una fashion a white flag for just in case they shoot before asking questions.
[X] Suck it up and move on now

Rukia did confess to messing up, lets see if we can deal with the situation first.

I dont think were getting away from the military.

It looks like this is a result of our character misunderstanding how her new fire powers work, rather than misunderstanding the vote, which is actually a reasonable thing to occur.

Now it feels like you are going over things we've already covered.
I made a mistake. Unless you do something stupid, you have a pretty good chance of living 90%+

Chill out

A little bit of column A a little bit of column B.
Your Aura, which I noted specifically in chapter 2, sets everything inside it's radius on fire. If you can conceive it being on fire, then it will be on fire. That is partly why the air isn't on fire right now.

If that isnt fertile territory for experimentation I dont know what is.

I really dont think were escaping the military. If the possibilities are definitely get shot at for running and maybe get shot at for staying still ill take the later.

This seems like vastly overstating things? We have healing powers, we have reinforcement that can let us operate while wounded, we have supplies. We have a gun, while having the military after us is bad to be sure this is not an 'oh god we could get sniped/keel over at any moment'.

As for the vote, he admitted he made a mistake, calm down.

EDIT: and slightly Ninja'd

Come to think of it, could we possibly do a little of both? Use reinforcement to keep ourselves up and moving and try to practice some multitasking very carefully by trying to heal a little at the same time? Also walk within sight but not right next to our sister so that if we lose control for a moment she won't get hurt, also walking a little ways apart will make it harder for people to spot you possibly?

I think that hiding background information that Cerys would know IC does not make sense. Having people figure it out step by step is all well and good in a novel, but for a quest you have to account for suboptimal or OOC decisions from lack of knowledge of the setting.

Having kids being shot at by military officers is jarring. The short interlude thing helped a bit, but really just made me think police officer instead of military, especially since he was alone.

Up till now we've been shown a 13-year old act all hypercompetent with gun knowledge, apparent criminal reputation, and paranoid opsec for trips out of base. I already had SOD problems with all that. Now she panics from killing a guy, starts a fire to destroy evidence, and proceeds to run helter-skelter from the scene of the crime. Which is believable, sure, but again seems jarring compared to what we've seen from her previously.

I tend to ascribe most of that to 'quest MC inconsistency' which is sort of inherent to quest characters...

That's why [] Write In... is there.
You can, and will probably succeed.

Basically, what's been said. Is that I need to write a big exposition chapter?
Because that seems roughly what people are asking for.

Well.. You'll be busy for the next several hours in story, no better time for some reflection on your past I suppose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but having just read this thread, wasn't the vote "filling the wallets" with money + 500$ in a envelope.
Yes:
-[X] Pack Luggage: Clothes Parkour instruction manual, woodland survival guide, Year 2000 Edition Encyclopedia, hygiene supplies, ten plasters, fluffy towels, fill both wallets with money and have 500 dollar's in an envelope addressed to your "aunt" for expenses while you are "visiting". Leave any other excess money
We're supposed to have both wallet filled with money and an envelope filled with 500$

You have done so, and have wallets.
I may or may not have forgotten to write that. One second

EDIT: You now have two wallets filled with as much money as fits (lets say around $1500 each), and $500 in a letter.

1500 is a lot of money in thickness.

Cool beans.

Anybody else wanna try not running from the military if they manage to catch up with us? I dont think well be able to outrun them like that again.
