Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

Speaking of low-hanging fruit, I just saw High-Speed Combat in the Shop.
Which is a bummer, I actually hoped it would be included with Flight as in CW's Quest... but oh well.

Will its level still be tied to Flight at least, or do we have to raise it separately as well?
High-Speed Combat was level tied to Flight? I don't remember this...

COZY
You bite your lip as you look at Morgan. She already looks better than she did earlier, but she still looks miserable and an idea comes to mind. You wander off into your room and dig through the airing cupboards, eventually finding your prize, a big fuzzy blanket. You come back and gently cover her, the feeling making her look up and give you a weak smile. She doesn't say anything, just wraps the blanket around her and buries herself into it. You consider saying something, but she looks completely wiped right now and you were at a lost of what to say. So you just smile back and move to sit down.

You are getting a little hungry at this point and seeing as you still lack ingredients entirely, if you make anything you're going to have to use Morgan's. You purse your lips as you look at her. You don't really want to disturb her by asking, especially because you know that she would ask you to let her help, but you don't want to just use her ingredients without asking. In the end, you think that it would be for the best to make something regardless. You decide to make soup and buttered bread. A nice, simple meal that is easy to make and easy to eat, it should help.

It doesn't take long to make, but there was a brief moment of suspense when you turned the Microwave on. You thought that Morgan might get up to investigate the noise, but she stayed curled up on the sofa. I've never seen her this... fragile. It feels strange, Morgan was always so energetic and active, bar the mornings. To see her curled up on a sofa while looking terrible was, wrong. You are brought back to the present when you notice the microwave counting down single digits. You quickly open it before it can beep and manually cancel the timer. A minute later and you've got three mugs of tomato soup and a tray of buttered bread. You'll pay her back for them later later.

You quietly walk from the kitchen into the living room, Morgan half asleep in her seat now, but still aware enough to look up when you move over. You see her eyes look over you for several seconds, not really seeing anything before she suddenly blinks and jolts upwards slightly. She opens her mouth to say something, but you just pass her a mug and a plate with two slices of bread. She looks down at them and then you, silent but for the small smile she has. "Thank You."

You nod and move back to your spot, giving Una her mug and plate, settling the tray on your lap as you eat yours. Before you get too far, you remember the folder you had been given earlier today and quickly fetch it. When you settle back into your seat, gently cooling Morgan's temperature slightly, you look at it. It's pretty small in your lap, but the folds on the side tell you that it can expand a significant amount. You take a sip of tea and look at the paper that was attached to the front. A minute later you are rubbing your nose as you re-read it. It's a pretty well put together guide for how banking works, at least on the basic level. But seeing all of the different things that you had to keep track off was a little daunting.

A quick glance through the folder itself lets you see a bank statement, made on the first day you were paid. Apart from that, it's completely empty. Huh, ok then. You set the folder down and take a long sip of your soup. It tastes different to anything else you've tried before, though you suppose that is the difference between American and English soup. The bread is pretty nice, though it has a tenancy to fall apart in your soup.

When you finish it, you let out a relaxed sigh and look around the room. Una is still reading her book, though she at least finished her soup and bread. Morgan... has fallen asleep in her spot. You can see the bundle of blankets slowly rising and falling, and can just about make out her face, peaceful in sleep. Whatever I did really must have taken it out of her. She is looking better than she was earlier, but she still looked like she was ready to keel over. Probably for the best I let her sleep.

You carefully collected the plates and mugs, washing them in the kitchen before putting them away. You then quietly shepherd Una back to your room, where she wiggles into the bed and continues reading. Once that's done, you move back to Morgan's room, to see her sleeping sideways, her neck bent at an awkward angle. You wince a little when you think about sleeping like that all night and carefully move over to her. You gently pick her up, moving very slowly and using a little Reinforcement to move her slowly and smoothly. You spend the next minute carefully moving across the room, where you gently set her down on her bed. You don't cover her up, the blanket will keep her warm, and you return to your own room.

You spend the next twenty minutes alternating between re-reading the bank leaflet thing and starting over Una's shoulder as she reads in your lap. Eventually you start feeling sleepy, even though it's barely seven in the evening, so you spend the next three hours reading through the encyclopedia. You check in on Morgan occasionally, remembering to turn off the lights when you check the first time, but she remains solidly asleep. Eventually, you decide to get an early night, so you turn in at just shy of ten.

Una decides to stay awake for another hour or so to read, so you keep her company until she falls asleep herself, you nod off shortly afterwards.

Really? I doubt Karen already announced our existence to the rest of the world.

The problem with organizations everywhere is that they can be infiltrated. ATM the ones who know about Cerys are Karen, Morgan, Samantha et al as well as all those people at the training ground, that's not good opsec. Our existence isn't likely to remain a secret long, since Karen didn't seem to order Cerys's presence to remain low profile given the attendance. If rival or competing organizations are halfway competent, they have informers inside the Clocktower- The secret will not remain a secret for more than probably 1-2 months due to gossip, maybe 6 months if we have good luck, but the supernatural communities are likely twitchy due to the Barrier weakening and everyone would be on high alert, so I'm not really optimistic. What will trickle down wouldn't likely be the news that we are a MG, but that the Clocktower has gained a really strong magic user, meaning we would become a HVT.

Don't really know why Karen hasn't kept Cerys's existence a close guarded secret until she is less of a scrub, unless she precisely needs Cerys's existence to trickle down, either to bluff others or for morale purpose. That or she decided that integrating Cerys into the magical world took precedence.

And as witnessed in the prologue, situations can get bad really fast like shown by the soldier transforming Cerys into swiss cheese. Besides if the shop had Armored Soul available at the time, would you have invested into health before making the run? The problem with keeping XP just for specific emergencies is also that we can't really be sure that a purchase will be relevant, unless we make an upgrade across the board. We might have more leeway in the future when our base stats are less awful and make purchase on a "need to" basis, but at the moment, we don't really have the luxury of just sitting on it.

Though that's just me being twitchy about having to deal with a world where mooks can one shot us ATM. If your opinion is that the Clocktower can shield us for the moment, well that's it. I'll just be voicing my support for having more base stats by any means necessary until we at least reach 10 in all the abilities uping our stats. Bear with me until that time.

All the time we gained HSC in crystalwatchers quest it was tied to level ups in flight. HSC 1 at flight 5, HSC 2 at flight 10 and HSC 3 at flight 20
I can't find any mention of this on in any of the materials I have.
Can you link me to some evidence?

If it is so, I will make it possible, though I might raise the level requirements.

Also, chapter inbound.

High-Speed Combat was level tied to Flight? I don't remember this...

Nepgear got it when her Flight reached level 5 and as per Crystalwatcher, it levels up once her Flight surpasses the speed she could track at.
Ugh, I can not find the quote I know I saw somewhere in the thread... at least someone else found it, so we can spare CW from having to answer us.

Now for my vote:

[X] Tuesday
-[X] Give up free time to let Morgan rest longer, before she starts your lessons. (Lessons start 2 hours later, but you have no break)

[X] Wednesday
-[X] Get started on Flight; focus on how it did not decrease the weight of someone you carry before and if you can change that

[X] Thursday
-[X] Do more Flight

[X] Friday
-[X] Get Plasma Sphere to work properly; this includes staying a sphere for long enough that you can throw it at the enemy... and for actually being throwable... or movable

As promised, lots of Flight and the Plasma Sphere.

People you are also forgetting that that is for Nepgear.

Not all Magical girls get high speed combat as they level flight.

Some beings get high speed combat without having flight at all.

Some people get fast flight but don't get high speed combat as a result.

Some people get high speed combat that is higher than nepgear does while flying slower

It depends on the magical girl, or magical creature involved.

You cant choose two, only one per day.

I'm going to gate it at training.
You need to train and practice at High Speeds to be able to fight like that.
You can't just magically git gud like you do in Crystalwatchers Quest.

That is true, but... there is no reason Cerys can not have it the same way, either.
I mean... honestly, it would be pretty nice if we did not have the need to buy this thing separately... we do get so little EXP as is.

By the way, I was literally scouring through CW's Quest to find the relevant posts for my previous posts for more than ten minutes; then you guys already finished finding everything before I did, and there was an update while I was searching.

This is both incredibly sad and incredibly nice.

Oh, that first one takes our free time for the whole day away?
Okay... changing.

You get so little xp because you don't fight anything.
Soon

I know we get a lot more from fighting... but still. We only have a little right now, so we need to try getting as much out of it as we can.

Additionally, my adjusted plan will probably not bring us to actual Flight just yet... but with that quote up above, I would rather have Plasma Sphere ready.

Does anyone have an index for how spells change when they reach milestones?
Like 9 -> 10 or 14 -> 15?

(I really need to re-read Crystalwatchers Quest. I haven't read all of the Non-Chapter pages yet.)

Abilities do not really change anything at milestones. Only Spells do, and those usually get new Abilities or upgrade existing ones on each milestone.

Additionally, I think CW has put it so that Level 10 adds the MG's second Affinity to the spell and 25 (?) adds the third. Or maybe that is just the weapon, I am not sure; in the quotes far above, Purifier Beam got a second Affinity at Level 10.

My bad, I meant spells, not abilities.

I figured something like that, so I put the spells right there as well.
But yes, additional Abilities or upgrades for what the spell already has were usually the only special change on milestones.
Purifier Beam
Level 14 -----> 15
Base Damage: 3,835 -----> 5,752
Magic Modifier: 190 -----> 390
Attacks Per Turn: 3 -----> 4

Sudden jump in all stats.
I was just wondering if there was a set formula for this or if its a 'whatever fits right now'
Because Level 15 is pretty low level to get such a big stat-jump.

Spells really had no set formula really. Beside getting new abilities or affinities at the milestones. or like purifier beams magic modifier more the doubling.
But spells are all formula based?
Each level is generally base damage * 1.5 + Modifiers

That is not a spell. That is her weapon.
The rules here are as follows:

-Base Damage as per formula
-Magic Modifier: Level * 10, but it gets doubled at each milestone (which is another Nepgear-special) [there might be some numbers I forgot here, but please ignore the slight errors; the important part is that it doubles at the milestone]
-Attacks per Turn: 1 + ((Level / 5) rounded down)

Ah!
I didn't know about the Attacks per Turn or the MM double.

I'll probably have Attacks per Turn jointly gated. Get weapon to Level[Number] and have [Skill Level]
MM isn't going to get milestone jumps, but you can get jumps via Store purchases.
(I.E, Crush. Which gives you x3 base damage. Though, is that 10 * 1.2^[Level] = result * 3 or is it 10 * 3 = 30 * 1.2^[Level] ?)
