Easy for you to say this from our collective positions on the other side of the 4th Wall.
Indeed. We are all on this side of the 4th wall... thats kinda the point?
1: Ya it is a secondary concern when solving that issue in the way you want is fucking stupid and impulsive when Missy is not going to suddenly NOT be our friend because we didn't include her right this second
2: Just cause we don't want to do it right now doesn't mean we can't do it later
3: I don't know if you've noticed but this is hardly canon worm or the canon protectorate atm and while they certainly aren't perfect neither are they the bad guys.
4: Working with the protectorate under their rules causes us a heck of a lot less stress then making them mad as fuck at us and we have enough problems at once to tackle.
So ya leaving it as it is for now is for the best.
None of this really counters anything ive said, 1 and 2 basically amount to the same thing, which is 'not doing this now doesnt hurt us' which was never my point, its not that not doing it will hurt us... its that
doing it will benefit us. And if we are going to do it at all, why not now? What benefit is there to doing it later? Will the Protectorate be less outraged if we do it a month from now? No 3 is misleading, no this isnt canon... but the PRT was still conceived under the same terms, Rogues are still nearly non existent, the PRT is still designed to fail. The Endbringers are still around so parahuman feudalism is inevitable. If anything, this version of the PRT may be
worse, since as far as we know they didn't intentionally lock villains in SImurgh Containment Zones after they volunteered to help fight just because they could get away with it. Which is something this PRT does, admitted straight from Alexandria's mouth. 4 is overblown. They cant do anything official, the best they can do is shun us which.... hurts us not at all. We are not reliant on them for anything, we have Dragon's support, Tim's tech, our own and Sam's powers and the TSAB folks on the horizon. If the PRT suddenly decided to ignore our existence that would probably cause us less trouble in the long run, and if they decided to mess with us somehow, we can troll them right back and do a better job of it. There is also the fact they would be poisoning their own hand... anything overt they did to us would also splash over onto Vista. Its not like they are
actually stupid enough to think that being massive assholes to Taylor is going to win Missy back.
And you're deciding that Vista is unhappy and needs to be saved from the Protectorate. Hell, if anything that would piss Vista off more!
Also, you still don't seem to understand something. Right now Philadelphia is in a very precarious position; one that made the whole meeting between the Villain groups and the Protectorate in order to protect it necessary. We don't need to introduce more conflict by trying to stake a claim on Vista now of all times.
That is stupid. That is non-productive and will ultimately blow up in our faces because it will introduce a point of contention that we don't need right now, especially when we will be assisting them in repelling the encroaching gangs out of the city.
So if you wanna do something like this, do it when shit isn't going to hell. We can't afford to be selfish right now, and I certainly refuse to be the person to fuck up negotiations just because you want to make a statement.
Yeah, see. You say that, but i see it rather differently. We do have to work together. The Protectorate and the Villains and the Indies all need to work together to drive out the out-of-town-villains. The Villains will not give a fuck where vista is standing as long as shes onside against their rivals, if anything her sitting with us, instead of the Protectorate might give them a giggle. Its certainly not going to hurt us in their eyes. For the heros, they have the most to gain and lose from this alliance... every time a building gets turned to glass or a store burns down, it makes
them look bad. Getting the new villains gone to greener pastures will be a big PR win for them no matter how much of a role the local indies and villains have in actually securing that victory. Taylor has proven herself extremely powerful and versatile, she was key in stopping the containment breach
and in the battle against the beasties
and the.... Cujos gang, whatever it was called. They are going to want her on side for this. They are not going to make a big deal right now because they have much bigger problems than a wayward ward. And by the time their plate is cleared enough to focus on us? The matter will have cooled.
Oh sure we are not going to get off free, that would be stupid to think. But when better to stake a claim on Vista? Now, when they need us and wont want to rock the boat (especially in front of the villains)? Or later on when things have settled and they are free to turn the full weight of their disapproval on us?
We have an o
opportunity in this confluence of events to get Vista more into our camp, and doing so while
minimizing the problems it will cause. Doing it later will almost certainly go worse for us than doing it now and i dont want to see this chance pass us by because we may not get another neat little situation like this.
*edit; Also, im not deciding shes unhappy. We
know shes unhappy. I'm trying to help her out of the situation thats making her unhappy. Very key details those.
