Into that Vast and Unrelenting Darkness (40K Xeno Civilization Quest)

Muse: The recent spate of blood offerings to the spirits of TekArt had resulted in many pieces having particularly active Machine Spirits. A number of artists believed that by giving these machine spirits their own independent forms, they could serve as muses and curators of Tekket culture and artistry. 0/10, unlocks Muses, intelligent automata that grant elevated CUL and 1 ART.

Elder Art: GodTek. Perhaps studying it for use in TekArt was a waste, but a number of creatives believed that by adapting the technological principles found in GodTek to more creative purposes, utilizing its near reality bending properties even in a much cruder form, they could evolve Tekket artwork even more. 0/20, grants significant CUL, costs 1 ART.

if we get the muses then I want to get the art god too
I am admittedly a little morbidely curious too see what art they get up to with the godtek...

Given I powerfully doubt we'd see anything They don't want us to see, I don't really see how either of those are Problems.
I'm less worried about seeing Things Ferretkind Was Not Meant To Know and more about the God-Machines getting prissy at us.

It's a bit like someone offering you dinner, and you refusing, then rummaging through his pantry when he's not looking. I know I'd be annoyed.

bah if the muse machine spirits were evil, had bid vibes, juju ect or anything it would have been noted by our very very robust FTH people and they have not noticed anything about them for all intent and purpose they are normal machine spirits so it not something to worry about on muses. Godtek emulator art option since it about warping reality maybe but muses nah. ( I Also pinged bird about it and he never responded so I presume there was nothing really to add about the spirits)

yah and revolation in combination with engines allows us to scan engines which is hugeeee
Given that the Tekket mysteks do not know about the Chaos Gods (afaik) I do not put much weight on their thoughts on vulnerabilities or dangers about things potentially related to them.

just cause they don't know directly of chaos does not know they do not know about malgin influence which we know they do know of that with enshrined guardines, gremlins, booug, warp predators, all the toymaker stuff ect and also judiging by the overall advanced ability of the FTH faith people about this stuff. Furthermore one of the benfeits of the tekket was there very robust faith stuff that and all the other stuff previously mentioned it be kind of dumb if they could not identify detectable malgin influences in the tekket expert area of machine spirits.

I'm conflicted on the life force art. On the one hand it's neat, on the other hand ... I'm not sure if the dancer is slaanesh bait, or a way to mitigate our connection to slaanesh.

... I think if we're going to go forward with that we need the temple. I don't think we've done anything to draw she who thirsts attention, and they're the most likely one of the four to skip over minor xenos like us, which means we have a decent chance of the dancer being legit, but that chance decreases if we draw imperial or Eldar attention.

yah I understand people worry about it so I am not gonna grab the muses or godtek art one in my plans until we do the dancer to ease people worry on it which I personally do not think is slannesh in waiting since it a old faith religious option and other reason people have gone into it

My thinking is that the temple ties everything more fully to the Tekket pantheon/warpsphere. Meaning that it's less likely to draw slaanesh or one of their daemons if we build up the temple a smidge before going heavy on the magic art.

Yeah, think it might be a good idea to do stuff for our C'Tan gods considering how much they have helped us. And they'd probably be offended if we kept ignoring them.

We do have active cults going....not the best cults mind you... There's a reason I want to clean out all our ten pointers.

As an individual I'd prefer the swift death of the c'tan. On the species level chaos is easier to escape from since they're fuck ups by nature.

Vote lock. Also, I have an announcement: I am now officially gainfully employed. With that in mind, expect updates to slow down as I now have to balance this and Eve with an actual job.

Yeah, I think the paranoia surrounding the dancer is a bit over the top. Slaanesh may pretend to control and receive power from all art/pleasure/pain, but that's very much not true. Besides, I doubt that Slaanesh could find purchase in our species this early when we're still very much irrelevant at the moment, especially considering how hard it would actually be to convert our people compared to the juicy target that is the Imperium.

Of the three I suspect Art is their weakest hold to begin with. It's not really in theme with most of the others, and the Dominion seemed to lack the introspection required for the real power moves in art.

Yeah, unlike with the muse I don't think art projects or The Dancer are necessarily bad.

We just need to watch out to make sure it doesn't get to the point of art being excessive and completely dominating to all of Tekket society. Because that would be a massive red flag.

Okay, so I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned in the thread and was already known (I couldn't find any mention but who knows?) but I'm fairly certain I know where we are.

I think we're in The Koronus Expanse of the Halo Stars.

Everything matches up, the Galactic West is an area called the Heathen Stars by the Imperium and only holds dying stars and most interestingly worlds of humans untouched by the imperial creed as they were settled by the DAoT. This doesn't make them friendly however.

The East has a silver warp storm, which also matches to the maps. The east holds Wintescale's Realm and is known for being regularly patrolled by rogue traders due to the abundance of wealth it holds.

And also if that Warp Storm to the North just fell then it's likely the Imperium is going to be using it as a way to further their influence on the expanse, as getting into it was tricky at the best of times.

I'm not an expert in 40k, but isn't that the area that the Imperium couldn't effectively settle/conquer because it's full of weird, dark age stuff that went full horror movie once the Age of Strife started?

Yup. A lot of terrifying, borderline genocidal artifacts and creatures are in the Halo Stars. I'm pretty sure flayed one necrons are a big issue around here, and stuff like the halo devices (devices that grant immortality, but also make you go mad, have a insatiable craving for human flesh etc.) also should be rampant. At the very least, the Imperium should have an extremely tenuous/non-existent prescence, though we should be very worried about what horrors Mr.Bird would like to include. if we beat out the imperium, i sincerely doubt they'd put much effort to reclaim the parts we take, considering how stretched they are. I'm rather certain we'll wind up in some sort of stalemate, sort of how the Tau interacts with the Imperium. As for the tyranids, I'm pretty sure they actually try to avoid going through the Halo stars and other such formations around the galaxy, so we shouldn't have to really worry about them, though I may be wrong about that.
