That just took out a majority of the E88's capes. And they're not going anywhere. Or they are about to be executed. We can hope.

Kaiser is going to be wishing he didn't order this attack.

As it is, this is going to be painful indeed. Kaiser probably won't learn his lesson. But this has crippled the Empire.

Looking forward to seeing what comes of this... because fuck you, Nazis. You attack and slaughter civilians and think the Unwritten Rules will protect you? Wrong!

Giving them to the PRT would be pretty stupid, Kaisers' still got about a half dozen capes to bust these ones out with plus whatever he can get from the gessellschaft.

Kaiser would have to leave the city to bust them out if they are given to other branches and it would be a spit in the face of Legend.
Causing the Triumvirate to drop Kaiser.
 
I do believe that kasier just bit of more than he could chew and just badly underestimated heavy gear. That's about half his cape rooster down and one down permanently. The prt is going to be shiting bricks and the empire just kicked an anthill and poked the bear. The queen of escalation is awake and angry Let the carnage reign supreme. Are they going to turn hookwolf in for the reward or are they going to kill him? I'll be fine with either as I'm sure his people will vote for execution.

Oh you just know the PRT response is going to be a demand that he surrender himself on multiple charges of homicide.

And never you mind that this was an unprovoked military style assault on literally thousands of innocent civilians with lethal force and it was only to save innocent bystanders that he resorted to it in kind.

In a state where if a non-parahuman did the same, there would be no possibility of charges being brought against him for it. (An investigation, yes; but only a pro-forma one. Stand Your Ground laws are quite clear on this.)

Right now he is 2/3 of his rooster and not only that, 4 of the casualties are heavy hitters plus the total loss of Crusader. He would need to sell his ass to the germans if he wants enough firepower to overcome the 4 separated convoys where their capes are going to be at the same time.

That aside...

Actually mass civilian attacks(that result in injury, fear, threats and death) are consider part of the unwritten rules in which villains can't do that, so basically they broke the rules(again), and them not giving a shit about only proves why the unwritten rules were such bullshit that should only be taken with a grain of salt.

agree, also the Nazis are in worse shape than they look, almost all their big hitters are either captured ( Menja, Fenja, Hookwolf, Krieg) or dead (Crusader) which were the best odds they had at actually winning this fight, he also now has ample reason to counter-attack and take out what's left. the real question is the PRT, they were a no-show, they might have had a good reason but I don't see either of them caring about that. They also look useless again with his group doing more in a few months than the PRT has done in years... so not a good look for them, and you know how well they respond to looking bad...

another important question is, what's he going to do with the people he captured? he might just publicly execute them seeing how every one of them has blood on their hands, but don't think he's at that point yet. another city like new york might work, but he would haft to send someone over to build a portal... so will be interesting to see what he does to them, but whatever he does, he has to send a message. but ya, would not want to be one of the four he captured.

You don't fuck the government. The government fucks you. Playing word games and gotcha verbal fisticuffs is universal lose condition when you're up against Uncle Sam: anything you say can and will be used against you. Anything anyone else says can and will be used against you.

But only the most airtight and well documented cases after extensive oversight and commiseration will ever be used against the government.

The point is: their position will be: "It is a state and federal felony to be in possession of the means to make war without government oversight and control. You will surrender any access to such means -- and if that's yourself, then you will surrender yourself -- to the control of the government or the government, for the good of the people and in the interests of national security, not only can bring the full force of the law and military against you, but must do so."

It's not about the civilians who died. It's about his mere existing committing the greatest of all crimes: undermining the legitimacy of the state.

Of course, by that same measure the E88 are also done. Launching an all out assault with hundreds of armed thugs murdering and maiming entire neighborhoods? That mandates federal action.

In no world that is even slightly pretending to be a tenth of the way to sane does anything other than a multi-state Federal taskforce come cracking down on the Empire. Heavy Gear just gets the Velvet Iron Glove, most likely in the form of Alexandria being a cunt with pressure tactics like always.

By comparison, look at what happened after the Valentine's Day Massacre. And that barely involved two dozen known thugs.

Rationality is very unlikely in a worm setting, but when you include zerg-like monsters it becomes impossible.

The only one Kaiser needs to immediately break out is hookwolf (who has already escaped birdcage transports by himself twice), the rest aren't birdcage bound and can be broken out of whatever jail they get stuck in while waiting for trial. Kaiser doesn't even have to go himself, he's a rich guy with plenty of hired muscle and connections. In the mid-long term Kaiser can deal with that, it's the short term where he's weak. I'd guess he's probably going to try to get Purity, Night and Fog to come back.
The Triumvirate are doing their whole non-interference experiment, they aren't coming to Brockton for anything less than an A-class threat (although admittedly the MC might get himself labelled one if he keeps this escalation up so who knows).

Because if he does then the Protectorate calls him a murderer for it. Capes don't get to defend themselves.

Although it is in character, killing downed enemies is a war crime which would piss of his allies and the government (more than they already are).

Honestly, they need better PR. Also, they have plenty of evidence given Tech Priest's surveillance. Even if they didn't want it against the government, it would be great PR to release it against the Empire who are "supposed" to be better than killing innocents at least to their moderate supporters.
 
That's why I said yes, the MC should teleport you to Boston or New York and hand you over to the PRT there.
And since a Newshelicoper filmed the whole thing, I wouldn't be surprised if they are all sentenced to birdcage now.

Alternatively, the SI can announce themselves as a Partisan and designate the E88 as the invading army. Since the USA has never made peace with the Nazi party (at least I think so), killing the E88 would even be legally allowed.

I'd really like to see this as an SI argument in front of news cameras. That would definitely trigger an ultra shit show.

Even if they had killed them in the heat of the moment, the Protectorate would find some way to spin it as a criminal act to bring charges against them. They want Tech-Priest bad.

Probably they raise a large contingent of Heros and Troopers and visit them in their civil home, then they try to put pressure on Danny to send them to the wards.

Now is a good time to think in bigger guns, much more bigger guns. Because Krieg is nominaly E88 but his ties are Gesellschaft.
