In Nuclear Fire

About Tattletale and her motivations, I was talking to @Raiseth the other day and we reached a conclusion I can agree with. Deep down, TT resents Regie because he never told her, he kept this secret from her until it was too late to do anything about it. Because of that TT directed that resent towards all secrets, aiming to unveil them all. In her eyes, if you keep secrets then you're a bad person and you deserve having those secrets exposed. That's why in canon she liked the US (and Taylor in particular) so much, because they were all open books that were fairly upfront about how messed up they were.

I'm telling you this because you shouldn't take Peter's words as the absolute truth. He has his preconceptions and can be wrong.

But even if he's wrong he did press every single one of TT's buttons.

Though I'm worry if it's ever found out that Tattletale point her gun at Peter, what would be Taylor and Aisha reaction?
Not well, that's for sure.
It would be for the best if they don't find out.

Wait, is that all you have to say to essentially stun a parahuman? You can even use it to stun-lock them. Kind of reminds me of that Monthy Python sketch with the best joke in the world. Want to kill Jack Slash? Scream this at him and shoot him in the face when he's dizzy.
Some people already answered this but I still want to comment on it.
This would only work with TT and with some other specific thinkers that can figure out how the cycle works. If you told this to most parahumans they'd just assume you are another conspiracy nutjob and ignore you. But TT's power allowed her to figure out that Peter was telling the truth and it everything went downhill from there.

And the first conclusion her power will come to is he isn't a parahuman him self good thing Zion is ignoring all his emails or he might of already died.
The biggest reason in canon why they won was because Zion didn't care. He kind of let himself be killed at the end.

Even Cauldron recruited natural triggers like Number Man and yet Zion never did anything against them.

or can all parahumans just get edited when ever there powers feel like it.
All parahumans are edited at the start when the memories of the trigger vision are removed.
Like Magus said, in canon TT's power was slowly shoving her away from trying to research the subject, but having the information dumped on her in one go let to a stronger reaction.

Also @Poliamida question, any idea if their planning to patent this stuff? Cause their path now is open to make tech and stuff that are not really tinkertech but can be manufactured by mundane means now.
It's a possibility but they have other things to worry about right now.

So... Will Ghost In The Shell be a future tech tree?
It's in the list as an option for the future but for now I haven't put much thought on that.

This is making me want to write a hexagon tinker crack fic.
Go for it!

Wonder why he didn't use that to combat Armsy
Uh? When would he use that?

Did they say Kill altogether 3 times or did each one say Kill once in order? Because I would find the latter cuter.
Eh... yes, it was the later. Let's say it was the later.

Ah geez. This is one of those designs that sounds good, but really tells you that the designer is not a contractor. Christmas Light circuitry is right: in real life it'd be incredibly prone to surges, over pressure, under pressure, not to mention no methods of power regulation. You can connect as many of these together in any configuration you like just like legos? You know where that leads you? Wires too small to carry a heavy load burning through their insulation. Outflow pipes backed up because of too much input. Input pipes barely dripping as too many try to pull from the same source. Also, who's paying for all this electricity anyhow? Just run an extension cord from one unit to the next building and hope the power company doesn't notice the sudden apartment-block level uptick in usage? Water he can handle but I don't recall any extensive power-generation that qualify as tinker-tech free.

Might need to alter that "no tinkertech" sales pitch to handwave this away.
Oh, absolutely, this is a mess waiting to happen. With no fundations a heavy wind could cause troubles, and as each part only 'slots' together there's no good issolations and there may be some leaks when it rains.
But it works, and right now that's the most important thing. This isn't a permanent solution or anything remotely resembling that. Peter just wanted a quick, cheap, and fast solution to put a roof over the heads of the people that needed it.

Remember that they stole Coil's generator last chapter, that one they'll be using to feed electricity to the houses after the detonators are removed. They will later have to build generators of their own to supply the demand as more people conect to their network, something that the city won't be happy about.

The piping and wiring is new,
That's based on a project I read some years ago for disaster-relief houses. Sadly I don't even remember what it was called.

I'm pretty sure at the end of the final boss battle in Portal 2, an automatic fire suppression system activates. Still, great chapter!
Uh, I totally forgot.

A/N: Before someone asks, no, TT didn't have a second trigger. She just suffered the grandmother of all thinker headaches.
It's what happens when you make a loop with no end conditions that somehow starts. And in this case each time her power wipes her memory of the info it becomes easier to deuce it next time, since there is more data.

Eventually she reaches a point where the rate where she is learning and forgetting too fast to be able to hand it. And bookmark blacks out. Gota love that defensive mechanism in humans. Otherwise she would be stuck forever unless an outside factor is introduced.

It's in the list as an option for the future but for now I haven't put much thought on that.
I just realised that if he ever rolls Warhammer 40k, he will be found out, since they have tech that detects dimensional incursions.

And where there a number of works that have that too, they wouldn't make a big deal out of it. But to theadeptus mechanicus would probably view it as tech-heresy of the highest order. And they would try and follow the breach.

That's why in canon she liked the US (and Taylor in particular) so much, because they were all open books that were fairly upfront about how messed up they were.
But wasn't Tattletale being hypocritical in the end she lied about her name, kept secrets to herself, fed canon Taylor that fiction about cop and robbers(which by the way is confirmed to be false), during a bonding session with undersiders she refused to reveal anything much about herself, and wasn't willing to be as upfront to others how much she herself was mess up. It was obvious in this chapter that though she enjoys a open book the opposite is not the same because as soon as someone gets a read on her, she will bite back like ravenous dog in order to reassert her superiority. Because though Tattletale wouldn't admit she does gain enjoyment out of it at times, and just can't resist even in times she doesn't have a gun to her head.

Oh my god. I finally realize what you had posted for the image. It was their symbol. Devil person = imp. Butterfly Wings = Taylor. And the lines are technology. Tech priest

Alright, that make more sense. For some reason I interpreted his usual showboating of a new creation as "I've created a permanent and perfect solution to all homelessness!". Knowing it's meant to be more temporary and not 500-room blocks replacing whole buildings makes a lot more sense. Sorry for the rant.

It's actually more ironic than that: Zion died because Taylor Hebert bullied him into committing assisted suicide.
I can't remember where the "Worm summarized badly" thread is, but one of my all time favorites is (paraphrased):
"Daughter of a widower, viciously bullied about her dead mom until suicidal, ends the Cycle by viciously bullying a widower about his dead wife until he commits suicide."

Wow seeing it that way makes it sound more fuck up than it is, is that a ironic echo to Danny somehow because he always felt like was inches away from just committing suicide, and didn't because of Taylor. Like Danny and Zion were both neglectful, Taylor for Danny and the cycle or shards for Zion and use work/heroics to distract themselves from their grief of losing their wives. Okay has anyone ever point it out this, I mean Zion deserves it but still the irony shouldn't have been lost on Taylor at least though maybe QA was messing with her brain too much.

but still the irony shouldn't have been lost on Taylor at least
No one really thought of Zion as a person until they saw how he reacted to seeing Eden's corpse in the Cauldron base, and by that point they were pretty far into the "kill him before he genocides us out of boredom" plan.
Also, that would require some kind of truthful self-reflection on Taylor's part.

How to Defeat Thinkers: For Dummies

Step 1
Say the following sentence:

"Powers are alien parasites."

Step 2
If this doesn't work, you are dealing with a Cauldron thinker.

Step 3
Watch out for Contessa

And that concludes,
"How to Get Killed by a Thinker (for Dummies)

Thanks for the amazing update as always and keep up the good work! I can't wait to see what you have in store for the next one!

Also,

"Oh, oh!" I raise my palm. "I know! Imagine a skull. But half of it is a human skull and the other half is a robot skull."

DEUS EST MACHINA!

"There is no truth in flesh, only betrayal."
"There is no strength in flesh, only weakness."
"There is no constancy in flesh, only decay."
"There is no certainty in flesh but death.
"

Credo Omnissiah

I need to push on and hit while this iron is still hot.

While I do like a good old Tattletale-Bashing, antagonizing her by unravelling her trauma and all that jazz with her Trigger is going a little too far for my taste.

Well...Drama is actually great in this kind of story, but I just hope that this doesn't burn down all the potential bridges between them. Man that is not how you recruit an ally to your own cause. Like shit...He should have uploaded some negotiation/dialogue algorithms to help him out in social situations.

Peter does want Tattletale as his ally right? Or does he want to do everything in the future with just Taylor and Ashia while fucking everyone over? :V

Apologies to Matt Damon, We Made the Interview in the Other Timeline
First of all, English isn't my first language, so maybe isn't 100% good, and second, I suck at humor. But I needed to make a late show interlude.

Apologies to Matt Damon, We Made the Interview in the Other Timeline

"Hi! I'm Jimmy, the host of the show. Thank you for watching. Thanks for joining us on this crazy day. This is the third day of the aftermath of the big leak on the PRT. Where we found a hoard of proof pointing that maybe the background checks on PRT directors should be more exhaustive than the actual one."

An image of an obviously fake PRT document with a very clear line saying 'Are you secretly a villain seeking to infiltrate the PRT to subvert the agency?' with a 'Yes' and a 'No' under it appeared on the screen.

"If you think about it's mindblowing, three days since the leak and we are discovering ever crazier things every minute. Did you know that Director Calvert alleged secret identity had enough explosives in his base to sink several blocks of the city over it? That's nuts! If this group of capes failed to take down his subterranean base Brockton bay would have now a new lake. A lake full of office buildings. Including his own! Which would have made him the next level of sore loser...or number one James Bond fan. Because who else would bomb his own base and office building but one of these cheesy villains?"

Jimmy clapped his hands and pointed both, with the palms up to his right.

"We also know what his 'alleged' power is. He could split timelines in two and do different things in each, then choose the one with the better outcome for him and close the other. And this made me wonder. Are we in the one that he is going to collapse? Are we just a villain's dream? You may ask yourself why Jimmy Kimmel is asking himself that bullshit. It's simple! I can't understand how after the press conference Thomas Calvert gave the same day of the leaking this is the 'good timeline'. You all watched how Anderson Cooper figuratively beat him into pulp. How bad must be the other option he discarded? Seriously! I think that the level of bullcrap he was saying in the other timeline made Anderson Cooper so mad that he triggered and actually beat him into a pulp with the sheer weight of his Rightness Aura."

Laughs.

"Maybe if he was defeated in this timeline by cape teens in the other one he was defeated by a group of superpowered toddlers!"

More laughs.

"And speaking about the capes who leaked these literal worth of proof trucks over our desk… we are still trying to rescue our redactor under the ton of paper, by the way. Who are the members of this group of kids that may be unveiled the most embarrassing event in the history of the PRT since its creation? No really, who are they? Did you know them Guillermo?"

The camera pointed the 'security guard' next to the doors.

"Absolutely! The blue girl loves to eat Chicken Crispers in the Chilli's close to my home." Jimmy looked puzzled at the security man.

"Are you sure she wasn't a Dallas Cowboys' fan instead?"

Guillermo tilted his head a little and looked at Jimmy like a kid that was caught trying to steal cookies in the jar. "Maybe."

Jimmy looked again to the public and the cameras. "Wrong identities aside, we almost don't know anything about these kids that maybe saved the city of Brockton Bay of a very hairy situation… ok! A more hairy situation than the actual one."

"The first notice about them was they breaking into… I know this sounds bad, but not for much. The first notice about them was they breaking into several dog shelters to heal dozens of dogs and other pets. See? there is nothing more heroic than saving from the death dozens of puppies! This is great justice in my book! Isn't it in yours Guillermo?"

"Yes, it is. Only ass holes don't like puppies."

"You mean assholes, right?"

"Yes! Yes!"

"Ok, and after that, they broke in several hospitals healing people because people are just only hairless pets."

He pointed with his hands to the left.

"We didn't hear more until the appearance of your Dallas Cowboys' fan, Guillermo. Deciding that it was a nice day to have a very energetic walk on the park… while beating herself alone the whole Asian Bad Boys gang to the point the Protectorate had to intervene to avoid her make them look bad, and to take advantage of the fact that the dragon had come out due to the noise, to capture Lung, the dragon of Kyushu."

"Azn" interrupted Guillermo.

"What?"

"Azn Bad Boys. not Asian Bad Boys."

"Seriously? How you know that better than me?"

"I'm not from the USA like you Jimmy."

"You are from Zacatecas, Mexico, not Vietnam!"

The Mexican-American only chuckled and said nothing more.

To be honest, I think this is the perfect time for another Protectorate interlude. The fire in the dumpster, which is happening there now, simply must be considered in more detail. But first, the end of the story with Lisa. It's been in the background for quite some time now. I would be happy if the relationship with Lisa is not completely ruined, despite the fact that the last scene looked pretty rough.

Ah ok, that would be really important tbh also I forgot if our SI missed Terrazine or not.
He doesn't have Terrazine but has Kaydaring Crystals.
I just realised that if he ever rolls Warhammer 40k, he will be found out, since they have tech that detects dimensional incursions.
I'm not kidding here, the moment Peter gets WH40K the fic practically ends. That setting is simply too absurd and he knows it well enough to get exactly the kind of things that could one-shot Endbringers.
The only reason he would doubt about deploying anti-Zion weaponry would be because the stuff that could kill him (like Vortex torpedoes) could open rifts in the warp from where demons could come in.

Ouch.
That...
yeah.

He doesn't necessarily want her as an ally but he doesn't want her as an enemy. The problem is that he kind of sucks at not making enemies.
Apologies to Matt Damon, We Made the Interview in the Other Timeline
Nice!
Threadmarked and I'm tempted to claim this as canon.
I'll wait a couple more chapters before deciding.

Don't worry, that's the idea.
Next chapter we close this up, and if everything goes as intended the one after that will be an interlude from the heroes' perspective.

And I imagine that the Worm Universe's Warp is just as bad as 40k's Warp.

Next chapter we close this up, and if everything goes as intended the one after that will be an interlude from the heroes' perspective.

Oh, that is gonna be a good time. :)

I think we spoke about this before, 40k is SO BIG that maybe only a faction tech could be advisable per run of power. For example, only running 40k imperium tech, or 40k eldar 'tech'. Same with 30k Imperium tech or... Zion forbid DAoT human tech or Aeldary tech.

Nice!

yay!
