[HALP] me! (WORM quest)

Some of these powers are too off from Gallant original. Like Valiant Scarlet, that's out of nowhere and kind of overboard. There wasn't anything trumpy about him. I'd be down for adding trump effects to go with the notional beam spam but not make her a trump as a central power.

I'll add versatile blaster to my plan if that'll get you to vote for it.

It works with an assumption that public believes he is still a Tinker with that whole armor motive. I agree it's out of field for those who know how her power operates, but I decided to offer it anyway. If not for Valiant, then someone else. In some cases I pretty throw some ideas and maybe people will like them. Personally I'm not a fan of it for Valiant as a primary pick. It's a fun powerset though, I wouldn't mind it for Taylor personally.

And on Versatile Blaster - I wouldn't mind as I mentioned it keeps Valiant on lower power level without going overboard, while provide absurd amount of options.

The telepathy is specifically for Taylor, for Valiant I recommend Touhou bullshit with variable recoil for air dashes and such (Imagine Celeste with infinite air dashes).

I'm neutral towards Bullet Hell myself. Although I simply prefer to keep Valiant on lower power levels. Yes, yes, I suggested some high power ideas, but I still prefer to keep it at max Rating 6. Just like with my main idea of Behavioral Tinker for her. It fits the theme, it's versatile and may force her to be more creative with a power instead of overwhelming everything with pure power.

And taking into account her family is rich, she may keep her current armor and simply modify it (keep current contact with Protectorate) or contact a group like Toybox to keep that armor without dedicating specialty towards it.

Okay, new plan, if Panacea starts going out with Kelly, we Trigger her as a Medical Tinker.
Or, if we have Magic, Sailor Senshi Magica Medica.

"Team Medic". With Kelly as a medical tinker trigger here if it happens. Sure, why not :D.

Honestly, I'm all for that plan that was posted earlier that just had us increasing all of Valiant's powers to a flat 100 information across the board. It's not flashy or anything, but it's a solid boost to Valiant's capabilities that still allow her to be part of a team, instead of just soloing everything.

I agree. Personally I'm someone who prefers lower level powers, which are properly munchkined then OVERWHELM EVERYTHING AROUND!

And which power for Taylor? I would go with mine Monju idea. It was already explained (well written) why it should be fun. Starts slow, but escalates and forces user to be creative.

That's fine then. I still won't vote for it, but it works for Taylor.
That is fine, I mostly just want to start the conversation about it since I don't want us to rush a discussion at the last possible moment. Also I would like more power suggestions since I am not personally a fan of Taylor being a tinker so having more powers that fit Taylor would be nice.

Frankly I'm annoyed that people don't understand how broken stansfield's powers could be already if He'd just fucking USE them properly instead of pretending to be a tinker.

Cleaning things up, bringing his powers up to proper data counts, and adding some multi-tasking should be more than enough to make her take things up a notch.

I'd be ok with adding a few tweaks and touches but trying to turn him into cherish 2.0, blaster glory girl, legend-lite, and such just seem like a cop-out.

Before we forget, we need a tinker hostz it's the most important data for research. We can't escape that.

Because Gallants original powers were crap. Like Triumph, sometimes the ingredients just don't mix into something greater than the sum of its parts.

I would recommend either waiting for us to get resources ourself, bribe jury-rig for a replicator or trigger someone that is rich or has connections that could be used to get rich. Maybe we could make a tinker power that is able to make a lot of commercial good that are replicable, but high end stuff is black boxed so we can get a tinker tech supplier for our group while getting a good income.

If we want to make a tinker I think Taylor is a better option, especially if we route it through her bugs.

If we want something more traditional we could add tinker to the Platy-coil.

Stansfield is a relatively high profile case, we don't wanna go making her powers too obviously different.

Why not? If we go Tinker, the public won't know.
That leaves the PRT, New Wave, and Cauldron to know. And Coil, but we'll eat him if he decides to cause a fuss.

The other three the idea that Amy can add to powers only makes her more valuable.
We'll have a lot of room to play our cards that it's mostly a Cauldron Shard thing, and takes time being around the person to know how, which can give us the ability to use it as a smokescreen to fix, improve, and properly restrict Cauldron Shards. It also makes Amy's worries about the other stuff she did pale in comparison, and draws official attention away from it.

I mean, sure, we're basically using her as bait, but it gets her more data, right? I'm not exactly sure what the harm is.

EDIT: It strikes me I'm probably coming across as pushy and argumentative, but I'm quite literal in my question here, I want to know what reasons we have to not do this. I'm sure there are some good ones, but I can't think of them. Thus I'm actually very confused about the argument against being obvious, at least insofar as it applies to the groups I mentioned.

Note: Kelly isn't a natural potential Trigger. Nothing connected at the moment.

Of course, you could change that... or ask Gaea to. She's been hurting for Information.

Because we don't want other shards realizing just how far outside the rules we're willing to go yet? Because we don't want to draw Cauldron's heavies in yet? Because we don't want people asking uncomfortable questions about why Stansfield's powers suddenly went from zero to Hero? Because new wave doesn't really have the infrastructure in place to support a tinker? Because none of the suggested tinker specialties have been anything interesting? Because tinker data is valuable? Because until we see how the situation develops we don't know if making it look like Panacea can mess with powers is a good idea?

1 - Fair point. Of course, we did recycle it, so can always claim it was there but broken. Also, as it doesn't give Aberration to do this, I'm assuming it's not actually a problem to play around with settings in this edge case scenario. But that is a good worry to have.
2 - I'm not sure they would come in? Panacea is a Hero, in fairly good standing with the PRT, which they control. They have time to have the PRT do some testing on this and smokescreen their own involvement through it. Then again, it is Cauldron.
3 - It depends on how far we push it. Making him the second coming of Legend is a bit much.
4 - His family is rich. They bought him powers and some Tinker armor already. I think they could swing backing him as long as his Tinker rating is low enough he's not going too overboard with what he creates.
5 - Fair enough. That's actually a really good subjective point. Could you think of something interesting to do?
6 - If Tinker data is valuable, isn't it better to make our current host a long-term source of it rather than not?
7 - But if we wait, and decide it is good, people will wonder why Dean didn't change and we'll have missed the point to do anything without a Second Trigger. Which given he's a vial, . . . I'm not even sure how that would work.

Overall, yeah, okay, you've got some good points there. I'm willing to concede it might be premature to be acting that openly against powers.
Of course, that does also mean Veronica will be a less useful data source than she could be.
Then again, maybe we can push some dreams to get her to use her damn power. Especially to stabilize the Dallons. Amy, Mark, and Carol could probably use some pushes. Though only Amy and Mark might allow it. . .

I do actually have some suggestions for what we could do for Veronica on the power front and yeah we should look into contacting her if we can confirm that she won't turn us in immediately, we could do a discount info dump on her, we could give her a dream that basically boils down to that her power was dying and we had to recycle it so we are their new power source and explain what we have done to repair her power. Though we should only do so if we have reason to believe that she won't turn us in. On the power front I would like to give Veronica a low brute package that is a combination of brute and changer so that we can begin to get some more data on that front, we could sell it as Amy giving her a Captain America package.

Also your idea to use them to stabilize the Dallon's went completely bellow my radar so thanks for bringing it up. Since we are talking about the Dallon's, the shards of the parents must be really annoyed since they are more or less retired, so for Mark I suggest that we use our expertise in combination with Gaea's to see if we can help with his depression. I am a bit stumped on what to do with Carol other than the obvious of getting her therapy, make her confront her faults (like in canon, but with less Amy in the birdcage and Victoria in an asylum) and maybe just make her bearable until Victoria and Amy turn 18 then have them move out.

I'm getting the plans collected for the vote.

Please look at these before voting. You might make a plan that's the same but worded differently. Let's not make this any harder on Vhal.

I'm also for contacting New Wave shards and helping them out, especially Marks depression, but there is too much going on in this vote as it is. Next time. Also too early to speak with Valiant, let things calm down a bit.

[] West? Hi there North America! (cover)

[] Plan "Second Dream by Ducats- Edited for Grammar"
-[] Do not directly speak with hosts.

[] Plan Cauldron
-[] Contact Transform, Fusion, Mask, Clone, and Frictionless.
--[] Ask for the status of both the Shard and the host, including a full diagnostic report. Ask for shard addresses.

[] Plan Repair Protocols
-[] Send to each Cauldron shard we've spoken to, where applicable, the proper protocols for communication, shard defenses, and data collection.
-[] Include command codes, so they always listen to us first.

[] Plan Gaea
-[] "You can inspire your host with ideas right? I had an idea that would let her expand what she can do without a second trigger. Biological armor, a symbiotic suit really. An organism she can wear over her skin, or possibly hook into her body. She can add biomass and alter it at will to fake shapeshifting. She could extend it to touch others at range, grow wings, or even escalate like Escalations host, with enough biomass. What do you think?"
-[] Ask to share sense data, we'll reciprocate with Valiant.

If you're willing to vote for the biosuit or sense sharing but not both, please tell me and I'll make a separate plan.

[] Plan "Continue Current Research"
-[] Continue Current Research
-[] Add 100 bonus research to Focused Research

Power Plans
I prefer Legend lite and Magtiech. They're my suggestions, but still. Everything gets multitasking of course.

Please note that a second trigger is replacing his original power entirely with one of the below.

If people don't like how much data I'm putting in, I'm willing to go a little lower.

[] Multitasking
-[] Apply multitasking to Valiants power where applicable.

[] Legend Lite, Rainbow Brite
-[] Mover 80 Rating 4 flight, rainbow trail
-[] Brute 40 + Changer 40 + Breaker 40 Defensive power, energy state/force fields if possible with shifting rainbow tye-dye hue. possibly combine with Mover?
-[] Blaster 100 + Master 80 + Trump 50 Rainbow multi colored emotional blasts. Different color for different emotional/power effects. BEAM SPAM in all directions.
-[] Thinker 100 jack up emotional aura reading range and precision. increased understanding.
-[] Multitasking to everything. so he can float up in the middle of a fight, be aware of everyone around him, and go rapid fire rainbow disco ball.
[] Behavioral Tinker
-[] Tinker 120. Pretty much Tinker data (and blueprints connected to it) connected to that specialty. It's hard to even classify Tinkers, but this should grant what is needed. Armsmaster is around that PRT rating, so yeah, more then good enough.
-[] Master 60. I think this should be more then enough to make it work. Technology with this amount of Master points as subcategory should grant abilities like emotion manipulation, etc.
-[] Thinker 120. Which should be around PRT Rating 6. Strong, but not completely broken. Thinker power would focus on abilities which obviously allow to understand behavioral patterns of others well. Body language, their emotions, etc.

added trump for you Versatile Blaster guy.

[] Valiant, Magitech Knight
Tinker power with master/trump sub ratings and separate but complimentary thinker power.
-[] Tinker 140: Magitech themed power infused items, similar to Chromatic Quest, AN essence of Spirit, and A Propensity For Wrath. Emotionally based color effects. Examples: A sword that cuts through anything but instead of harm inflicts overwhelming nausea/vomiting. Medieval bomb/grenades that emit Glory Girl style overwhelming terror/submission. Helmet of master immunity, inset with anti-stranger lens. Cloak that provides stranger power. Relatively low maintenance because low tech, but still tinkertech so Dragon can get something from it.
--[] Master 60
--[] Trump 80
—[] Multitasking
-[] Thinker 120: Retain original thinker power. Expanded range and precision. Increased understanding of behavior, emotions, body language and psychology.
—[] Multitasking
May need to add or decrease data.
Vhal how do tinker powers work for you? Like obviously my power would let Valiant do more than described, but would you roll for what he can build or do we give him ideas?
Like crossbow bolts of confusion, boots of joy for walking on air, etc.

[] Valiant Scarlet
-[] Trump 200. This should grant Rating 10. Yeah, pretty high, but frankly this is really good ability. Also absurdly versatile. Pretty much this power grants an access to summon from dedicated pocket dimension armor designed to counter specific threats.
-[] Shaker 80. Pretty much additional pocket dimension for tools which aren't hosts armor.

My least favorite plan. It has nothing to do with his original power.

[] Plan Administrated Gallantry Power
-[] Thinker 40+60 information. Improved precision of emotion sensing. Gains impressions of memories associated with most prominent emotions. Able to sense emotions out to 100m radius, including unseen targets. Targets affected by blasts can be tracked for up to one day after impact.
-[] Blaster 60+40 information. Increased finesse and speed of blasts, better ability to hit multiple targets at once. At maximum finesse, blasts are hair-thick and invisible to the naked eye beyond a barely visible flicker. Impact force imparted by a beam ranges from 1 pound to 500 pounds, distributed evenly across the impact area(note that 500 pounds applied to a hair thick blast is going to be more of a piercing rather than concussive effect) and brightness relative to amount of force imparted. Once a target has been struck once, they can be retargeted spending any conscious attention as long as they remain within the Thinker ability's primary range. Beams default to a two inch thick ray, with color based on the Host's mental association of the emotional payload with a given color.
-[] Master 60+40 information. Increased duration and finesse of emotional effect. Sustained hits allow for the emphasis or deemphasis of emotion-associated memories.

Sarah Pellham. She's Carol's sister, and the Leader of New Wave. With Veronica monitoring her emotions Sarah can probably reel her in.

A lot of the issue is likely that Carol's law career is putting a lot of money on the table. If we eat Twin and ADC Coil we can back them financially to lower their reliance on non-cape careers. Which might be able to push them to patrolling more and thus feeding their conflict drives and soothing her emotions?

The issue is that eating Twin was supposed to be farther out since we don't have ADC yet. Then again, we could always give Twin massive restrictions, crippling Coil's power, and try to replace him with an Amy-Made clone to gain control of his finances. Would also let us finish the Become Human quest and gain a shit-ton of Research. The difficulty is finding out how to let them learn who Coil is and come up with that plan to basically replace the supervillain with a "normal human" version of himself to cut Coil off from the money.

Okay, so one of these goes to Emote. Twin is broken, has no personality or ability to have one, and generates good Thinker data. It would fill another. Swap is also not only broken, and incapable of having a personality, they also don't have any protections from anything and are easily hijacked.

So, here's the thing. I say we eat both of them. Swap can get us data from the Travellers (Has Cody been shipped off yet, or can we butterfly that away?). Coil's a fine data farm and we can eventually use him as a meatsuit and no one will mourn his loss. In fact, there might be much rejoicing. The other Shards seem Salvageable. Although we might have to eat and transfer bits around to jigsaw things into a better working order.

Personally I think Emote to Australia, Swap to the Americas, and Twin to Africa to make those thinker bits nice and close to our own.
Keep in mind that you have space on local Luna that's close enough to use for Host powers, although it's on the edge of too far to still remain a part of you. (This would be easy to research)

Amy could make her own sword. A living sword with a mind of its own.
Depending on how things go, I might roll to see if Amy figures out a way around her Manton limitation.

Isn't Vicky's aura already a stun blast for most intents and purposes? And Gallant already able to mimic it with hisher beams?
Valiant could easily do this now. Bummer that New Wave is averse to proper power testing, they are leaving a crapload of ability on the table.

So are we overwriting Thomas's mind entirely and backing up his memories into storage or are locking him inside while we run around. That's tempting, but a little too cruel I think.
You don't have the skills to do this yet. And most plans don't have you getting it any time soon. As a result any changes you made to Coil would be permanent. (With all your storage space, not being able to back up minds for 'just in case' is a shame)

Using Veronica as a way to 'fix' New Wave is a great idea, but it won't be easy. At all. Short term pain for long term gain?

We don't need to deal with Coil this very vote, there is already so many moving parts. Vhal is one guy, let's not force him to become Avalanche and only posts 20,000 words once a year. Though Vhal, there's another example of awesome quest.

Coil isn't going anywhere, and he's not going to himself killed. We haven't butterflied that badly. We'll look up ADC soon, it's not very expensive after all.

P.S. Hey Vhal, did you really roll multiple Nat 1s and 100s? That's kind of ridiculous and I like what it implies for the rest of the quest. Unless it's a spoiler, in which case don't worry about it.

Thanks @Gino, and yeah Legend Lite and Magitech Knight are really tempting, but Administrated Gallantry is also appealing in how it does not do too much, but opens many avenues for a smart user.

Well it is better to get it done before it causes lots of bigger problems down the road.

@Vhalidictes what was the answer to the question if the crit Amy got turned Veronica into a theoretical optimal human or into a Captain America type superhuman?

Keep in mind that you have space on local Luna that's close enough to use for Host powers, although it's on the edge of too far to still remain a part of you.

I was saving that for Clone. Too Simurgh tainted to trust as part of us right away.

I'm more spit-balling plans than suggesting we do it today. We'd still need to poke into some research and set up a lot of the groundwork to try it anytime soon.
We don't have ADC to take over ourselves, and trying a clone means getting Amy back and letting the Meddling Kids of New Wave find Coil's Lair and turn him into a Great Dane.

So basically money is the true superpower.

Batman proves this is true.

Right now, I don't think there's anything we could say to Amy or New Wave to get them to clone a dude and take over their operations. That's way too morally ambiguous for them. The drunkenness has passed.

And yes. Money wins. See the Number Man.

P.S. Hey Vhal, did you really roll multiple Nat 1s and 100s? That's kind of ridiculous and I like what it implies for the rest of the quest? Unless it's a spoiler, in which case don't worry about it.
I did. I've been using Rolz.org for years now, and I don't normally see rolls like that. I guess random is random?

@Vhalidictes what was the answer to the question if the crit Amy got turned Veronica into a theoretical optimal human or into a Captain America type superhuman?
I'm sorry I didn't see this question. Basically, Veronica isn't any kind of superhuman in a performance sense. Just way, way above average in every respect. Not-quite-peak-human is probably the best description.

What Amy got a crit on was physical appearance. She was drunk and got creative and Gaea actively helped. It's a potential PR goldmine for New Wave. We'll have to see how it all ends up.

That's fantastic. Some quests struggle with RNG the whole way through. And some quests are May the Invisible Hand Be With You.

I know what I'm hoping for.

P.S. What's the research branch for backing up and restoring minds both host and shard. ADC? Do we have to figure it out on our own?

Plan B, Kelly. Or just go straight to Clone. That'll probably have to wait until we finish Charge's data and can work up some patches for Cauldron Shards.

As long as I can get a list of wants from people and when they want them and if we can decide on a power set for Taylor I can figure out a research plan to accomadate that.
My main worry about putting off the Stronger Trigger tree is that we have no idea when the next trigger opportunity will occur and how frequently they'll arise. If Taylor has a strong trigger opportunity in the next update, are we going to pass on it because we don't have Stabilize Trigger, even though that means stress and bad memories will build up for her? On the other hand, if no trigger opportunities occur for a while and then a weak one occurs, will we have Stronger Trigger by then to take advantage of it?

We can't control trigger opportunities to make sure they occur before a school break, and if we did figure out a way to do so, then Taylor will feel betrayed that we participated in her mental breakdown. I want to get the Stronger Trigger tree as soon as possible because it gives us more control over Taylor's power and more flexibility about trigger opportunities.

Whether Basic Host Modification (Human) is urgent depends on what we've done to Taylor, how dangerous it is to her wellbeing, and whether we can get in range of Gaea for her to potentially fix it for us.

i like the idea of researching Magic, but taking care of the basic necessities (the Stronger Trigger tree, Memetic Proxy Filtering 1, Memetic Proxy Filtering 2, Administrative Archaeology, and possibly Basic Host Modification (Human)) is more urgent.

As for ADCing Coil, I don't like Coil, but I don't know if it would be worth the aberrance. Maybe by the time we have a research slot free for potentially researching ADC, we should look closely at our relationships with other Shards and decide what we want future Shard relationships to be like.

P.S. What's the research branch for backing up and restoring minds both host and shard. ADC? Do we have to figure it out on our own?
It's a little bit split. Communications and Worm-Fake-Psionics are in the Multi-Host tree.

Mind-wiping and restoring and all that are in the A.D.C. tree. Pretty far up it.

EDIT: And yes, you're supposed to figure it out on your own. Sigh. I already posted the above, I won't remove it now. Oops?

Sorry. But now we know not to get our hopes up any time soon.

So we go stranger to hide our abberrance.

Or we can just not worry about ADCing Coil. It's not really needed and a worse option than getting a Human body somehow to complete the quest.
After all, if we want to fuck him over all we have to do is restrict his Shard. Welcome to the world of Thinker headaches, Coil.

That should derail his plots while still leaving him to farm data for us, though perhaps at a reduced rate.
And we can do all that without even eating Twin.
