Green Sun, Black Shadows (CG/Exalted)

Oops. Fixed.

Ok, planning...

@Alexander89 - questions...

1. How much money does Lelouch have from Gambling? I don't know what Resources 2 translates to in Britannia money. Also, how many dots in Resources would 35 times what Lelouch has cost?
2. How much money does one of those mobile base car things he got in canon cost?
3. Does Lelouch have the ability to launder a large amount of money? (say, win a crap ton of money gambling at a casino under someone a false guise, move it into a secret account without tax men asking questions?)
4. How many uniforms could the Anuhles make a day?
5. Does Lelouch know that Kirihara Taizo is in charge of the six Kyoto families yet or not?
1. I tried studying Modern Age, but it isn't clear. I found, but I am not sure it's feasible:
-: You do not have the Resources background. If you're not holding down a day-job, you're destitute, living off the streets or the land - your total income is ~ $500 a year. This is what those with ratings of naught and one-die ratings in Backing take home - this is their discrectionary income.
•: You have some investments or ventures. Your take is between $1,000 and $5,000 a year. Those with two-dot ratings take home the middle ($2,500) in discrectionary income, unless the ST adjucates otherwise.
••: Doing better. Your take is between $5,000 and $12,000 annually.
•••: This is the level at which you could maybe live off your investments. You get $12,000 to $50,000 annually.
••••: Big leauges. You pull down between $50,000 and a quarter of a million ($250,000) annually.
•••••: You're wealthy. Your investment is major, between a quarter of a million dollars and sixteen million ($16,000,000) dollars annually.
2. I would say 3-4 Resources. Look at Vans, Minivans and S.U.Vs in Modern Age.
3. Do you really think Lelouch has ever paid taxes? Of course he can.
4. Two, one for each ten Anuhles. They can't undertake other tasks however.
5. He knows. Or better, he strongly suspects the old man is likely leading the Kyoto coalition, because he is that kind of man.

Why do I get the feeling that this song will play when Ligier shows up?
All demons like music, but I have to admit it is oddly fitting.

I don't know much about CG, can we ask about this information ?

[] List of geass users and what each one can do.
[] Any information about other exalts she know.

Ok, here's my general thoughts on planning.

1. While securing a source of income is important, I'm not sure it would be doable in the short term. We're likely going to continue relying on Kyoto House for a while - they already have the resources we'd need to take care of our Sutherlands as well. Lelouch relied on resources from Kyoto House in canon to a degree, so I don't see a reason he can't do so here. Hell, he might think of using his powers to subvert them if they don't want to play ball in the long run. (even if someone in our Coven is already doing that, but Lelouch doesn't know that IC)

2. We might be able to supplement our gambling income some by using our Exalted bullshit to cheat and use that to buy a warehouse to serve as our main base, or perhaps buy a small shipping company or something to disguise our people's movements? That would be a small source of income we could use.

@Alexander89 - another question. What would the difficulty on a roll to win on a single number bet on roulette be, and what would the base dice used be? Odds using an American wheel are 1-37.

3. Regarding the name, I'd just keep it the Black Knights. For the uniforms, keep them black. Change the silver trim and buttons to brass to match Zero's suit.

4. For the instructions on what our guys need to do, probably a combination of scouting out targets and giving them a training plan to bring them up to a decent standard so they're more like a professional military.

5. We probably want to introduce Nunnally and Sayoko to C.C. since she'll be living with us. Just introduce her as someone who knew our mother and is trying to stay below the radar like we are, so they should keep her existence to themselves. @Alexander89 - it wasn't made clear in the series I think, but does Sayoko know about Lelouch's true background?

Ok, just putting down my question list now (not voting yet) to see if there's anything else people want to add in.

[] Yes
-[] What sections of the army are chasing her, and how aware are they about magic? Are any of them Dragonblooded?
-[] You presume Clovis is likely aware of her given his swift response to her capsule being stolen. Does she know if he's an Exalt or not?
-[] Do the powers granted by Geass work on Exalts, demons, spirits, gods, or any other non-magical creatures?
-[] Does she have any powers other than granting Geasses, and do they work on Exalts, demons, etc?
-[] Does anyone other than her have the power to grant Geass? If so, how many others are there and who are they?
-[] How many other Geass users is she aware of? Are there any in particular you need to watch out for?
-[] Can someone who has a Geass Exalt? If so, do they lose their Geass? Also, what happens if she tries to give Geass to an Exalt aside from it just not working?
-[] She says she was your mother's friend. Does she know, or at least suspect, who arranged your mother's assassination? If so, who, and what are their likely motives?
-[] Correct her on one final thing - those "Golden Kings" were very real. They were the Solar Exalted, and the prison on their Exaltations has been opened. Half of them are loose in the world. Some were captured by Hell and turned into your type of Exaltation. The rest were taken by the Underworld, with everything that implies. You can give her the rundown on the history of Creation later if she's not really informed about it.

Kyoto provides money based on success and number of members. Ohgi's group went from 2, to 1 (Naoto's death), to 2 again thanks to Zero.

2. We might be able to supplement our gambling income some by using our Exalted bullshit to cheat and use that to buy a warehouse to serve as our main base, or perhaps buy a small shipping company or something to disguise our people's movements? That would be a small source of income we could use.

Dice pools are relevant in a game of chance only if you cheat. This is a good explanation.

She does, since she initially worked for Ruben and he wanted something very trustworthy to take care of Lelouch and Nunnally. I wouldn't mind if you meet the man, he can reserve surprises.

Questions to ask additionally to those of Enjou above:

-[] Maybe ask C.C. about details of any of her experiences with the sidereals? or the other exalted? Does she know anything about Exalted in the Britanian Empire? About what happens when a Brittanian noble exalts? any information could be useful.

-[] Ask about her relation with your mother-how they met, how close of a friends were they?

-[] Does Ruben knows anything about Exalts? It seems unlikely, but Milly was quite the shock.

-[] ask her what she knows about Malfeas.

Ok, that makes sense. A recent success against Britannia, even if it didn't get the poison gas, would do that.

Ah, damn. Oh well, there goes that idea.

Ok, good. I'm sure we'll want to meet Ruben at some point, but it doesn't need to be now.

I think aside from a few issues I'd just leave the decisions to you and otherwise just see about giving you ideas to work with. There's a bit too much to manage and you have the best idea of what all is going on.

-[] Does Ruben knows anything about Exalts? It seems unlikely, but Milly was quite the shock.

C.C. knows that Marianne was friends with the Ashfords. She didn't say she knows the Ashfords.

I'd honestly rather have a different name than "Black Knights". It's just so... meh. Bland and everything.

Dice pools are relevant in a game of chance only if you cheat. This is a good explanation.
Well, it'd depend on the game, and whether we play honestly.

Strategy games like Chess, Go or Shogi would likely fall under Intelligence/Wits + War.

Some card games like Poker, where things like bluffing and analyzing the other players is a big factor, Manipulation + Presence/Socialize (bluffing and the like) as well as Wits/Perception + Investigation (to analyze the other players and whether they're bluffing or not) could come into play.

And for cheating, Dexterity/Wits + Larceny seems like a good bet.

But yeah; for games that have no real player-input like roulette, probably just roll some dice that seem appropriate.

@Alexander89
Does Sayoko know Terrestrial MA, or is she possibly a Sidereal?
In either case, what charms/styles does she know?

If she doesn't, might suggest Lulu thinks about getting a demonic Sifu for her. I know at least four styles that would probably work for her.
White Veil, Nightbreeze, Falling Blossom, and Golden Janissary.

WEll, correct me if I'm wrong since it's been a while, but doesn't CC know?
So we could ask her to get more information.
She does. She IS in telepathic contact with Marianne after all and was informed of the wholde sordid business as a result. It's heavily implied that one of the biggest reason CC left the Geass cult was because of VV killing Marianne.

Speaking of, the whole telepathic link thing is problem waiting to happen with CC potentially (inadvertently) passing info to Chuck via Marianne. CC can simply refuse to share with Marianne, sure, but it'll take getting her to develop actual loyalty to us first.

There is also Ohgi's group to consider. First you need to come up with a suitable name ("Black Knights" is currently at the top of the list), secure a source of money that doesn't solely come from your gambling or they mysterious benefactor, find a suitable base, make sure the Sutherlands are properly maintained, how to start up recruitment and decide what you want them to do in your absence.

Black Knights is fine. There's the whole "We determine the outcome" motif that's really nice and I want to avoid any obviously hellish imagery. Making our allegiance obvious is a good way to get the Aerial Legion dropped on our heads.

Cash... I have a thought: The Demon City is home to all manner of strange substances that Creation has likely forgotten. If we can be the first to corner the markets on Hell-imports/exports, we could become fantastically wealthy. One of the more desired products in Hell is seashells filled with putty made from a baby's cries (they drive away the Silent Wind). So seashells could be a valuable commodity to trade to Hell. Water is also a forbidden thing in the Demon City, so a smuggling operation (Infernals largely operate outside the law. Just offer large sacrifices to Cecelyne so she doesn't trash our water-shipments) could be phenomenally profitable. Payment from Hell could be rare metals, magical materials, simple currency if they have it and so-on.

I recommend obtaining a small volume of either product for our first trip to the City, to scope out possible markets and make contacts. We can use demons to help obtain and store stuff for our visits, later including in-the-know Black Knights if they're loyal enough.

The downside with this option is that it depends almost entirely on our personal trips to Malfeas, unless we train and equip humans to survive the journey and make the trades. The profit margins could be extreme, though.

That's all meta-knowledge, but we can ask our friendly head-demon what sorts of things would sell really well in the City.

Base... I believe the canon Black Knights hid in the ruined ghettos of Area 11 and serviced the Knightmares with good ol' elbow grease. Not very efficient, but it'll suffice until we get some backing or learn to Shape the environment to our purposes.

Recruitment-wise, I think we're still at "friends" for now. These guys are a tight-knit group of people and it'll be hard to convince anyone to join without some real accomplishments under our belt. See if they can't find "friends of friends" and other disenfranchised Japanese folk. That, and clearing a space for Knightmare repair should be their task while we're out. Moving lots of heavy machinery should keep them occupied.

So, as a vote:

[] Ask Seyrun what sorts of commodities trade well in the Demon City. Obtain as much as you can fit into a suitcase and bring it with you. Scope out possible markets and look for things you could reasonably turn a profit with in Creation.
[] Have the Black Knights search for an untraveled, hidden section of the ghetto to store the knightmares and relevant supplies.
[] Recruit from disenfranchised Japanese via word-of-mouth only.

Good idea/bad idea?

As for C.C., she's throwing in with us for now, but I'm not convinced she wouldn't turn us in (and blow the whole Reclamation thing) to advance her own goals. We've already told her we work for Hell, but that could make us fools in her eyes. Let's not spill the beans about the Solars just yet.

So we really need to ask questions that'll lead to us figuring out we need to soul-nuke VV after getting Malfeas' approval.
(Well, or dump VV into the great darkness beyond existence from that Ebon Dragon Charm)

I think this is relevant. I don't know if I said it in some post already or not, but ignore that part about Malfeas' air being deadly for humans.

It is not.

It doesn't need to, since Malfeas as a whole is already deadly enough. Not anymore than earthquakes and tsunami were and are, but that's the peril to live among gods who are geographical features.

We don't need to personally manage it. There's an existing cult doing trade with them, and we could invest money into expanding their business.

I'm working on a plan right now. I'll be sure to include mention of this as a possible thing to pursue.

I'm thinking of having Milly's familiar follow us around and play theme music while we're in Malfeas. It'd probably seem super-pretentious in human society, but with demons it's probably just a thing that every demon who can do it does.

Talking about Exiled By Wicked Hate? That requires getting Witness To Darkness, so I'm of the opinion that getting it is non advisable.

The GM has previously stated he'll allow the homebrew Charm "Glaring Sun's Subtlety", which is a Malfeas Charm that basically does the opposite of Witness To Darkness (Charisma and light, rather than Manipulation and darkness). Taking both of those cancels out the penalties of both, though takes the benefits to extra dice for social attacks and MDV down to one each.
