Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Nah.
We want to avoid guards and spending effort on them before we reach our actual objective.
They're a distraction, an Essence sink, and increase the potential for catching civilians in the crossfire.

I do wonder where these guards are coming from.
There were no official guards on this place's roster, so it looks like these guys are actually staff members. Seems that there are more cultists on the staff than we initially had reason to believe.
Given the state of the elderly all staff might be cultists.

I want to use the crown to find some weaknesses before combat with the eldritch abomination and we have two of his cultists here to do it

An added benefit of using the Tool Charm to burrow down into the basement is that we might damage or even destroy some of the specially prepared infrastructure that was built into the place to facilitate whatever hinky shit the cultists are getting up to.

Possible.
I think its unlikely, just because of the sheer numbers of staff members required to keep a nursing home running; administration, three shifts of medical staff, plus housekeeping and catering. Most of whom require their certigication be filed with state authorities.

I dont think its likely the cult has so many medically-qualified members on staff. Not to fill the skilled spots.
So they would need to employ outsiders.

We have no area-attacks.
Enough mortals can mess us up, so taking out individual foes and the Doctor as a possible leader right now to stop them from coming all at once might be sensible strategy.
This is a building, not an open field.
There is only so much space for gunmen to get clear lines of fire. Much easier to chokepoint assailants indoors.

Molly has 11HLs and Soak 4. VLE adds another +4 Soak when activated.
We have Saga Shield dropping the difficulty of soak rolls to DC5.
And thats assuming you get through her Parry, which thanks to her shield is a 9-11 dicepool effect at DC4.

An experienced professional who does this for a living(Dex 3, Firearms 3-4) would be rolling an attack pool of 6-7 dice at DC6-7.
Which is...suboptimal in these conditions.
Short of fully automatic weapons, which dont fit under jackets, Im not worried about mooks threatening Molly in a combat situation.

Elites yes, but elites arent random guards.

I AM however worried about them threatening Michael or even Lydia.
And the more guards we have to run through, the greater the chance someone gets lucky with a stray bullet before we even reach our final objective. I'd like to keep our magic support alive.

Also, avoiding the expected path means avoiding the technological and magic obstacles along the way.
Because Im fairly certain they exist.

[X] Dig straight into the basement with Essence tools (Cost 1 Essence)

-[X]STUNT: You blow out your cheeks softly. "Armed guards didnt show up on the staff roster. Wonder what else didnt." "Sooo...rush?"Lydia prompts you. "Yeah." you reply as you move the unconscious "nurse" to the wall, clearing the floor. "Lydia, keep an eye on the approaches and call out if you see someone. Dad?" At his look, you make eyes at the cultist on the floor. "See what you can do for him. Seventy seconds." You flex your will, and the memories of tools begin to form around you "We're dressed for construction, so I'll cut us a shortcut." Im certainly dressed for it.

Tool Constructs can be activated with Essence or WP.
So burn 1 WP to activate Tool Constructs. We already spent 1 temp WP to activate Imperial Primacy Mantle; this will be the second.
That leaves us with 7/9 WP and 9/12 Essence.

Michael was a military corpsman.
Using the cultists belt as a tourniquet and using his shirt as a bandage should be doable in a minute.

I would prefer to make Lydia do it with her earth control while we stop the cameras with a cyber demon or we use the corpses to find more information about what are we going to fight exactly. We could even use it as a way to return some esence by using the right question.

We dont know what Lydia's current power suite is like. That she can travel by Earth bending is not the same as excavating holes in the concrete floor. And I would prefer not to burn her juice before the actual fight. Or to have her pit her power against whatever the magics in the building are; she's not the Celestial Exalt, we are.

Furthermore, no indication there are cameras in the basement or inside the building as a whole.
And I dont really want to burn Essence here.

You throw a glance at her phone, holding a tune of ones and zeroes in your head. That won't be sending any messages to the boss. Hopefully Anne here is too professional to just use her own phone for it right away since that is out of sight.

Lost 1 Essence -> Now at 10/12
@DragonParadox , we had 10/12 in chapter 3.15. We should have 8/12 now.
Also, if it is the same scene, we are glowing with a sweet green light now. :)

Rolls
Not posting the combat part but you guys have to see this one
Intimidation away
Do the old people notice what you did (Diff 8 because of their mental state)
-Combat Insesses with a lot of rolls including an error on my part forgetting how multi-actions worked, but I caught it in time-
Ummm… did you accidentally put DPE as +2 dice instead of -2 difficulty? Because by my count we should only have 18 dice with Dexterity + Intimidate + Excellency + Stunt. Also, it's a key ability, so that 1 is ignored instead of subtracting a success.

Digging down also bypasses any fixed defenses like wards on doorways or claymores. Neither of those are beyond the capability of the likely suspects for who we are fighting here.

I mistook the number of dice, but rather than re-roll I just discounted the last two rolls on there. That roll is too good to scrap.

DP has said we're nearly at the end, so better start considering what we want to spend XP on.

With the meeting with Mab coming, maxing out Etiquette and Empathy are definitely something we want at minimum.

So, that's 14xp.

Anything else depends on the amount we have leftover, so thoughts?

TBH we have quite a bit of time before Mab's deadline, so we can look at... anything, really.

I'd only oppose combat charms, bc we are already on the edge of provoking general escalation from DP. We powered-up good at the last spending point.
