Infernal Express
25st of July 2006 A.D.
You blow out your cheeks softly. "Armed guards didn't show up on the staff roster. Wonder what else didn't?"
"Worse things," Lydia says grimly looking down at the man crumpled on the flood. Now that you know what to look for you can see the ways his wrists and ankles are not quite jointed like those of other humans. Maybe his wish to the Pathfinders had been to join Cirque du Soleil. You shake off the absurdity and sadness all at once.
As your dad starts to move down the corridor where the guard had come from you call him back: "Wait, there's a faster way and you can look him over."
He does not question your words, nor your call of 'seventy seconds', though Lydia certainly looks at you in askance when you move the nurse over to the wall...then her eyes widen in shock as the light of your soul flares and swirls around you, a cylinder of light becoming what might be called a small elevator with handlebars on both sides just wide enough for you to reach when standing in the middle so it technically a tool....
if that is elevators were made of a patchwork metal plates in all shapes and sizes and all states of rust and if the bottom half of the elevator had had
teeth.
Lost 1 Willpower -> Now at 7/9
"Get in. We're dressed for construction, so I'll cut us a shortcut."
"Cool!" Lydia proclaims as she steps through the sliding door to stand in the arc of your left hand.Dad just gives you a quick hug with the arm that isn't holding the Sword on guard.
The... device whirs to life with the sound of a thousand dentist's drills, tearing through tile tile concrete wiring stone and everything else in its way with horrific speed, ejecting the material upwards through pressurized vents that that throw jets of rubble and ruin behind it like some demented carnival ride.
A bare six seconds later you feel the air outside, through sensors on the outside of the capsule, but you also feel something else
wrongdangerousforbidden. The door opens with the soft ding of an elevator finding its floor, because of course it does, though you to not have more than a moment to contemplate that as it reveals a scene out of some Frankensteinesque nightmare.
The room is square maybe twenty yards on the side, lit all along the middle by harsh fluorescent lights, all the better to fully witness the horror being done within it. Six people, obviously residents of Soul's Rest are strapped to to upright steel pillars all around the room, each one of them wearing what looks like one of those old timey diver's helmets only the glass, if glass is, it is shines an eerie blue green and each face is fixed in an expression of horror and fear such as you had never seen on any living face. Electrodes placed all over their bodies sprout silvery wires that attach to a large tank in the middle of the room made of the same false glass filled with a dark oily liquid.... or rather mostly filled. Something silvery shines in its depths. As you watch a robotic scoop lowers into the tank driven by some distant controller.
Even as alarms go off all around you and the door on the far side of the room slams open to reveal more armed guards in he Soul's Rest uniform you realize what this is. Not worship, not a summoning...they are harvesting the silver stuff whatever it is.
"Gossamer," Usum provides, before the bullets start to fly.
There are two people in the door already firing and one more behind them, though he does not look like security, judging by the white coat he is what passes for a doctor in this house of horrors.
How do you engage?

OOC: You rolled really well for occult and Usum can explain more of what Gossamer is, but there is a limit to what he can say between combat phases.
