Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Technically it can, specifically it gives you academics, but practically that is to slow to have any great impact on the quest. You are an Exalted and not just that you are a solaroid, education meant for mortals pales besides your inherent ability to just get better at stuff by the memory of ancient glories and the soft whispers of the demon bounded to your soul.
Damn shoddy American education system.

Furthermore, no indication there are cameras in the basement or inside the building as a whole.
Any reasonable way of adding "a quick glance for security cameras pointed at where you would dig the hole, destroying them with the sword" before the tool summoning thing?

Summoning a weapon is one thing. Pretty normal as such things go. Summoning weird digging tools on demand is weird and may imply one can summon arbiratry things, which is a whole different kettle of fish and a really big deal.

I'm vaguely worried that someone in the security office might grab the tape and gtfo while we are busy below. (Note, I really don't think there's anything observing us right now, just trying to cover our bases).

Or even, @DragonParadox can we assume as players that none of the three have noticed security cameras/recording equipment?

Edit: oh, vote closed. ehhh. It's fine.
In fact, I bet this mission will be smooth sailing from here on out.
Probably

Probably

The only camera you had seen has been in the lobby, if you spot any others Molly and company will try to deal with them.

Like, the outcome here was hilarious and I loved it but I don't think it particularly advanced our goal of getting a bit of private conversation time with the nice nurse lady or progressed the mission beyond 'find a private room'
Yes, but this is basically our first time of succeeding too hard (I think), which is basically the reason for (most) exalted problems. And an important part of Molly's journey to enlightenment - understanding that yes, you can succeed way too well.

I hope we can swing back around for Voltorb when we're done. Even if we can't or don't want to recruit her I'm curious about what exactly the long term effects of ODing on intimidation are.

If she wasn't a murderous cultist I'd feel bad for doing the social equivalent of resetting her brain with a paper clip. As it stands I'm mostly curious if she got slapped with a derangement from seeing Molly's infernal glory up close.

-[X]STUNT: You blow out your cheeks softly. "Armed guards didnt show up on the staff roster. Wonder what else didnt." "Sooo...rush?"Lydia prompts you. "Yeah." you reply as you move the unconscious "nurse" to the wall, clearing the floor. "Lydia, keep an eye on the approaches and call out if you see someone. Dad?" At his look, you make eyes at the cultist on the floor. "See what you can do for him. Seventy seconds." You flex your will, and the memories of tools begin to form around you "We're dressed for construction, so I'll cut us a shortcut." Im certainly dressed for it.

Arc 3 Post 18: Infernal Express
Infernal Express

25st of July 2006 A.D.

You blow out your cheeks softly. "Armed guards didn't show up on the staff roster. Wonder what else didn't?"

"Worse things," Lydia says grimly looking down at the man crumpled on the flood. Now that you know what to look for you can see the ways his wrists and ankles are not quite jointed like those of other humans. Maybe his wish to the Pathfinders had been to join Cirque du Soleil. You shake off the absurdity and sadness all at once.

As your dad starts to move down the corridor where the guard had come from you call him back: "Wait, there's a faster way and you can look him over."

He does not question your words, nor your call of 'seventy seconds', though Lydia certainly looks at you in askance when you move the nurse over to the wall...then her eyes widen in shock as the light of your soul flares and swirls around you, a cylinder of light becoming what might be called a small elevator with handlebars on both sides just wide enough for you to reach when standing in the middle so it technically a tool.... if that is elevators were made of a patchwork metal plates in all shapes and sizes and all states of rust and if the bottom half of the elevator had had teeth.

Lost 1 Willpower -> Now at 7/9

"Get in. We're dressed for construction, so I'll cut us a shortcut."

"Cool!" Lydia proclaims as she steps through the sliding door to stand in the arc of your left hand.Dad just gives you a quick hug with the arm that isn't holding the Sword on guard.

The... device whirs to life with the sound of a thousand dentist's drills, tearing through tile tile concrete wiring stone and everything else in its way with horrific speed, ejecting the material upwards through pressurized vents that that throw jets of rubble and ruin behind it like some demented carnival ride.

A bare six seconds later you feel the air outside, through sensors on the outside of the capsule, but you also feel something else wrongdangerousforbidden. The door opens with the soft ding of an elevator finding its floor, because of course it does, though you to not have more than a moment to contemplate that as it reveals a scene out of some Frankensteinesque nightmare.

The room is square maybe twenty yards on the side, lit all along the middle by harsh fluorescent lights, all the better to fully witness the horror being done within it. Six people, obviously residents of Soul's Rest are strapped to to upright steel pillars all around the room, each one of them wearing what looks like one of those old timey diver's helmets only the glass, if glass is, it is shines an eerie blue green and each face is fixed in an expression of horror and fear such as you had never seen on any living face. Electrodes placed all over their bodies sprout silvery wires that attach to a large tank in the middle of the room made of the same false glass filled with a dark oily liquid.... or rather mostly filled. Something silvery shines in its depths. As you watch a robotic scoop lowers into the tank driven by some distant controller.

Even as alarms go off all around you and the door on the far side of the room slams open to reveal more armed guards in he Soul's Rest uniform you realize what this is. Not worship, not a summoning...they are harvesting the silver stuff whatever it is.

"Gossamer," Usum provides, before the bullets start to fly.

There are two people in the door already firing and one more behind them, though he does not look like security, judging by the white coat he is what passes for a doctor in this house of horrors.

How do you engage?

[] Write in battle plan

OOC: You rolled really well for occult and Usum can explain more of what Gossamer is, but there is a limit to what he can say between combat phases.

...Probably should have assumed Molly's Shintai form before taking the 'elevator'.

Welp.
It comes with a full heal. We should save it for when we know this is the last fight of the day or when we need a reset. It doesn't matter if we pick up wounds now. We are fighting on an expendable health pool. Anything we lose we are just going to heal right back the moment we go magical nuclear princess chan.

I mean, this is rather looking like the big fight of the story arc, and we might have guessed that skipping the looks to drop right into the basement would have put us right where we'd be in a big fight. But fair enough, it is also a great move for healing.

We can always bust out the Exoskeleton reflexively, so it's not like we don't have options, it's just Shintai does take time.

I would note the guards are coming through a door. We should send Lydia to examine the science horror thing while we kick the guard rushing through the door back through it so we can hold that chokepoint.

Nah. This is still a mook fight. The horror in the pool of liquid fear hasn't woken up yet.

We're barely past the gate and are already down to 7 motes, we should throttle our expenditure a little so we're not tapped by the time we get to the source of the issue here.

Is learning what Gossamer is enough of a secret to earn us motes back?

No, the full thing will be once you are done though so you get two motes immediately after the fight

The vote says a WP cost not an essence one @DragonParadox

Fixed.

Quick search on a wiki on gossamer gives me this information.

"Gossamer
Goods fashioned of gossamer, no matter how perfect, always possess a tinge of the unusual about them. They may shine with a barely-noticeable opalescence or iridescence (a fairly common effect), or bear some unreal feature, such as an unusual color or texture.

It is entirely possible, in fact, for a gossamer-crafted object to be entirely unlikely or impossible by Creation's standards, its beauty and excellence drawn entirely from mortal dreams and raksha ingenuity: swords of rose petals, sanxians of liquid serpent-scales strung with sunlight, and odder creations are all entirely possible.

As stated in E:tFF, gossamer weaponry add the following to their stats: +1 to accuracy, damage, and defense, and +2 to rate. Gossamer armor has no fatigue penalty. Other gossamer items add one die to a relevant roll.

Gossamer items are highly valued as curios as well as highly effective possessions; such items cost two additional dots above an item's normal price. Should a gossamer object have some special power or property, the price will rise accordingly.

(It is conceivable for "raw materials" crafted from gossamer to be offered in trade or claimed from raksha; these baubles -- such as butterfly lion-hides, pearls of fire and cobra's-tears, and stranger things -- may have to be adjudicated on a case-by-case basis)"

Note accuracy may not be good due to coming from a wiki.

It is said that you can only extract it from the wyld and from human souls so it might be something similar to dream essence or imagination essence

Yes loot

In creation proper, raw gossamer would evaporate into nothingness. It being able to exist outside of a pocket of unreality, or being specially prepared says nothing good about the worlds stability.
