Chicago, a place that is a leyline nexus, was involved in the inciting incident of the war, almost have the Black Plague 2.0. start here etc... has one Warden assigned to it, it used to have none. The notion that Senior Council members can afford bodyguards, combat trained Wardens to just stand around most of the time is not compatible with that.

On an related note, I was going through the charms and I found this.
But the signature effect is what I am highlighting here. Whenever someone lies to us, we can freely transform. The easiest way is to have Clippy or another bound spirit lie to us to trigger the transform.
The DOWNSIDE is that we eat 3 Agg damage if we do not go for the kill but it is always the first 3 health levels, i.e. the 0 lvls so no penalties. This is further reduced when we get Ego-Infused Primacy Pattern, which is our anti-shaping defense and Agg healer.
We may get a burner phone and "slay" the bound spirit by destroying the phone. So thereby avoiding the 3 Agg Damage.
The only alternative to freely spam our shintai is to get the Boiling Sea mastery + Rendered Villain Dispersal. This is cheaper on the xp, 8xp to 16xp but requires set up in that we need to hide in water for 3 turns to freely transform.
Ultimately, we still need E3 if we want to try and freely use our shintai but this may be a better option, if we are willing to eat the 3 Agg, though that said.
@DragonParadox A question if I may. For the purpose of the Charm's Signature effect, would destroying the housing of our bound Spirit count as "slaying" it? And would having clippy or a bound spirit lie to us work?
We were always going to get it anyway, because scene long truth charm. Very important when dealing with anyone who is not the Fae.

Also its combat magic itself that shes not good at she made temple dog statues that can and do fight that doesn't mean she can cast a fireball. She'd be a liability not a help in combat she can make stuff good for combat though.

That will work for the most part, not the killing your phone part though, you would actually have to kill something that can meaningfully die so generally that would mean tanking the agg.

There's always a small team of wardens protecting every single senior council member or at least they can if said senior council members want it. Obviously they separate at times though and have other duties.

Which is a form of 'being good in combat' it's just through minions.
The fact that they have to be bodyguards and to be decent ones they have to be on call and focused on protecting their target at least that is the case if the target is useless in combat themselves.

in fairness its not like senior council members are lazy and the wardens protecting them at least the ones protected by wardens don't use said wardens for tasks I'm sure they do a lot of important stuff and their not just sitting down drinking tea and relaxing. Also yeah she wasn't there cause she herself is not good at said magic she could still send her stuff and help coordinate she just wasn't there in the fight itself. that doesn't mean shes useless just that even harry can cast fireball better than her. Also you know I literally just did a quote the bodyguards exist as one of the duties of wardens and they probably cycle out bodyguard positions.
If she 'sent stuff' she was involved in the fight. Otherwise one would have to argue that Binder a mercenary for hire also hardly ever sees combat is terrible at it.
I suspect the bodyguard part is more an artifact of that war (in which case base level of protecting yourself really does not cut it) and not normal peacetime operations. The alternative is that they are pulling wardens off enforcing the Laws, something they are explicitly falling more and more behind to disastrous results, in order to protect entirely non-combat SCs. If that is the case it would be a serious failing of their duties.

Few things you have some points yeah that definitely counts it never said she didn't assist just that she wasn't personally at the battle dragonparadox multiple people did that and jim butcher noted it.
now for pulling people off every single senior council member has had body guards not sure that means their failing their duties said white council members likely are attacked at least every few years or something minimum good chance war time changed some strategy though yes.
Last part well I mean ancient mai might be black council so if shes worsening her duties that might be a plus no ones ever said the white council is perfect anyways. Also shes diplomatic I'm sure she sees her fair share of fights in which case the guards are being well used.
Aren't the jade dogs guarding the council's head office her work?
I could see it making sense if her specialty is crafting, in particular crafting magic robots.
She could be crap at evocation for her peer group, but if attacking her means fighting the personal army of supernatural terminators she's spent the last two centuries perfecting Ancient Mai could get away with it.

shes actually 4 centuries old and yeah they are hers like I said not good with fireballs doesn't mean shes not dangerous shes not exactly adding anything to the fight by being there though that stuff can go with those who aren't her.
If she is particularly bad at combat she would need more guards, still a liability. Everyone has specialties, pretty much every specialty we see can be applied to combat. A gun would do basically nothing to anyone inclined to attack a senior council member.
I would rather not get sidetracked into a general 'what do I think makes little sense in Dresdenverse'. If it comes up in relations to the quest I'll tell you guys

Well, I'm pleasantly surprised that we didn't end up in a fight with a rogue Valkyrie after all. HMP is still outperforming my most optimistic expectations, too.
As for the vote, I think we have plenty of time to make some calls between the church and Harry's place, including one to Gard. And while it probably won't take too long for Bob to infodump at us, if we can squeeze out even one Essence from a short bleach bath, we should at least make the attempt. It's not like everything is going to be set in motion and ready to roll instantly upon us sharing the news with Michael and Gard, so there should be some wiggle room with the clock.
Also, anyone else tempted to have Black Rider fuck with Katrina? Like setting off the airbag?

technically I'm unsure bob doesn't actually always see us naked since he definitely doesn't see in normal three dimensional sight.
Things to consider:
The granddaughter may already be dead. The Nemesis possessed can freely break oaths and defy their nature. Matthews is almost certainly unaware of this, so may well have been fooled if she swore an oath he incorrectly believes she has to keep.
Chasing after past victims is more of the reactive surrendering of the initiate and operating on the enemies' terms.
We really need to start being proactive and stop letting them set the pace, and start proactively interfering in their potential plans.
For example, they may already have snatched Lydia, but they may not. We may; for example, be able to earn her, or persuade her to ring up and warn her father before the next phase kicks off, which could be in literal minutes. We have no way of knowing where their ritual site is or how long it takes to trigger it. We really need to IC realise her identity right now. Even a few minutes warning to her father might allow him to protect himself if he knows what's coming.
All this faffing around gathering allies who could take hours or days to arrive is just a distraction. We're dealing with a threat that is not unlikely to be bothered critical and immediate. We can't rely on the best case scenario that the enemy have grabbed Matthews with loads of time to spare for him to sit around.
Edit: it's also possible Daniel is out somewhere with Lydia and so is at risk of being collateral damage if she's snatched. He isn't protected from being gunned down in the street.
