Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I'm fairly sure Dumpster Diving's only real cost is time, not money?

and I should note, With my plan we're removing sleep as an issue, so that's a whole 8 Hours of extra time to do things. From Crafting, to Occult Rituals, to Studying The Blade! (Plus, With a bit more of an investment into of Larceny and a willingness to steal from large corporations/foes, theoretically, anything is free to The Empress In Burning Shadow :V)

Now, I am not saying that we'd instantly get crafting resources if we started killing some beings, but...

Surely Vampires are fine?

Without sleep we don't restore WP. No drip from Stunts, we dont even have a Nature.

In short, nah. Its a trap.

Gonna need Resource Background for that one, buddy. And would you look at that, we have exactly 0 Resource.
Molly Carpenter, father is a Carpenter, when he not a knight. Still worried about magical links back to the maker of a work. But between craft to make stuff, and empathy to sell it for high prices, building up to 100K+ will not take long.

On average for that stuff, figuring Molly would roll Dex+craft+excellency, Molly Rolls 14 dice to make say a small statue, without penalty from 1s. And Molly would have 12 dice for selling her work.

If Molly does the entire thing in below freezing temp add in a -2 to the difficulty. A small bit of wood work, would wind up being better then near any a mortal can make.

That's just perfect.
In all fairness, +4 dice in soak is not goint to boost survivability by that much. We really need to combo it with Scar writ saga shield to get the most out of it.

So going craft right now will not change much and does unlock some options for us, that would otherwise be locked.

But I'm sure we'll be able to make really nice furniture and knickknacks, right? The raw materials should be just within the budget of unemployed teenager. All we need to do is spend our time dumpster diving and borrowing our siblings' allowance money.

:jackiechan:
Charity has made and maintained armor for Michael, she also used to work on bikes.
I seriously doubt that getting some material to start crafting will be a huge problem.

Mortals can only get up to 3 in Stamina if they are not some bodybuilder who trained from a child and the protection by armour can only give so much before they're bogged down by Dexterity penalty.

We could have +4 Soak alongside our Stamina 3 for a total of 7. That's the equivalent of someone wearing a Bomb-squad level of protection without sacrificing mobility at all.

+4 bonus is huge.
A Red Court's skinsuit is like super leather, right? Right. Everyone will definitely agree with us.
Rimworld players be like.

I think we would need a more robust combat build before we start playing monster hunter.

Maybe we can Craft something really impressive, perhaps a nice painting of sunrise, to distract the Vampires so we can sneak up on them to use a stake we made all on our own at five times the regular whittling speed.

+4 soak against all attacks (not just bashing like some mortal) is like running around in top-tier modern armor.

Riot Shield, kevlar armor, soldier's helmet, all that shit together at its best is worth a +4 and in exchange it greatly hampers mobility, which our Exoskeleton does not at all influence.

Sorry, Craft is not a catch-all term for Crafting in general. You need to specialize in one field. Anything other than that field? You're gonna need to buy it seperately.

So if were to pick Craft (Leatherworking), as long as it's dealing with Leather, we'd get the 3-Dots dice. Anything else? 0 Dice. Don't even think about smithing, that's too broad. Think something like (Swords) or (Bolts).

Basically, Crafting in ExWoD works like E.A. DLC. "You want additional content? You need to pay for it."

It would also likely combust, dissolve or clobber you if ever exposed to sunlight?

(Clobber from a scene where sunlight hitting red vampires litterally throws them around like a physical hit.)

Yeah. Craft as written suks. ESPECIALLY the unholy mess that is 3E craft.

I never interact with Craft unless it is homebrew.

Is that ExWoD too?

I had enough of that in Exalted.

Five elements of Craft, Vitriol Craft, Craft Genesis, Craft Magitech, Craft Geomancy...

God, fuck Craft.

Edit: Oh and also Craft Glamour for some MAs and Charms.

Seriously? So all this talk I've seen about crafting armor, woodworking, designer clothing, etc., all of that was predicated on the assumption that we would be locking ourselves into one of those specialties?

Now I don't even want the Tools charm ever, let alone now when it's absolutely useless.

It's not quite that bad. From V20:
Crafts
This Skill covers your ability to make or fix things with your hands. Crafts allows you to work in fields such as carpentry, leatherworking, weaving, or even mechanical expertise such as car repair. You can even create lasting works of art with this Skill, depending on the number of successes you achieve. You must always choose a specialization in Crafts, even though you retain some skill in multiple fields.
Even though we have to choose a specialisation, we should still have some more general craft-skills.
And even a low number becomes good if combined with Attribute and Excellency.

So say we count as Craft 1 in fields besides our one specialisation, we can still roll about 10 dice if we go all in.

with the Nightmares Flaw, you must make a Willpower roll (difficulty 7) and on a failure lose a dice to all actions for the day.

With Nightmare Fugue Vigilance if she decides to sleep, Molly suffers "vague and troubling nightmares" and must make a Willpower roll (difficulty 7) upon awakening in order to regain Willpower.

We have as of yet, iirc, not failed the flaw roll.

Is it a risk when we do need sleep? Sure is! Do I think the Narrative and Mechanical Usefulness of becoming Sleepless In Chicago out weighs that risk? Sure do!
