Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Imagine the look on his face when she accidentally tries to order one scoop vanilla one scoop greater Akuma next time the carpenters stop to get ice cream.

Edit: error
And then the Jawas want a scoop of Akuma, with sprinkles and chocolate fudge, and before you know it everyone knows what Greater Akuma soul tastes like.

I wonder if there's a consistency to that feedback or if it's just whatever Molly would enjoy most at the time.

It'd be kind of funny if the Big Book of Yami Wan 2nd Edition had an addendum on ice cream flavor analysis like some sort of screwed up horoscope for demons and Akuma.

-[x] Leadership and empathy excellencies while wet.
-[X] Using your best, carve a memorial for him and your future fallen comrades. He is the first of those who follow you that has fallen. He is unlikely to be the last, much as you want it to be not so.
[X] Action, you will make sure something like this cannot happen so easily in the future
-[X] Get some connectivity down there, so emergency-calls from a Cyberdevil are possible. Even if you personally have to drill to the surface to lay a cable.
-[X] Next step doors, defined thresholds and warding , that was propably part of the plan anyway, but now it becomes priority.
--[X] Hire Harry. Working together with him, Bob, and Lydia using occult and intelligence excellencies to craft the best damn wards there are
-[X] Consider plans for an actually secure panic-room in the Station, one that might work even against enemies near your caliber, though don't look that one in yet, depending on how much money and effort that would take.
-[X] Ask Porter if he has any ideas or requires any help to prevent something like this from happening again.

-[x][stunt]"Adam had the right idea when setting up defenses. In fact they likely would have worked against most low level supernatural threats. Unfortunately when it comes to the higher level stuff the most effective defenses require a threshold to work. Which only happens when humans are about a place and considering it a home. I realize that most of you don't have any skills in home improvement, but every little bit of time and effort you put into making this place nicer and more of a place that people want to live the safer it becomes, also be careful about invitations.". Looks over at the ghouls and white vampires "Actually that only applies to the pure humans in our group. It is something of a subtle ability they have. Unfortunately all you can really do is improve on the defenses Adam made and help the humans of our group feel more at home. Sorry to say that currently I can't provide that much in the way of protection. Only revenge."

Arc 6 Post 36: In Memory, in Hope
In Memory, in Hope

4nd of October 2006 A.D.

Essence Restored to 12/12
Gain 1 Willpower -> Now at 7/9

There is something daunting about the wall at the back of the armory, smooth concrete laid the better part of a century ago when all these tunnels were still part of the daylight world. the arcane chisel in your hand, unfortunate love-child of a drill and a jackhammer that could only have been designed in the Wicked City hums in eagerness. What kind of font would best suit Adam? After ten whole minutes of looking at pictures of writing you sigh and set Clippy down. That is not the real question is it Molly? It's how big I should make it? How many names am I expecting to fit in these twenty square yards? It is hard not to flinch from the thought, but you cannot deny it. All you can do is live up to it.

***

Not only war but peace

"I did not know Adam all that well, our first meeting was more than a little rocky, but once we understood each other, we spoke together and made a pact that would help everyone in this room. This..." you pull a chord and light floods in not the sterile while of cheap neon but warm gold that softens the contours of the mismatched furniture makes the colors of plastic tables pop, turns the work of happenstance and cheap Ikea spending binges into something more more, something whole. "Is the place he helped protect, the place he gave his life to bring warning to. Though he might scoff to hear it, he died a hero."

Not death but life

"He lived a hero as well, in the things he did not do as much as those he did," you continue, gaze sweeping the faces of young and old alike, in scores of eyes seeing reflected the fear of what had transpired in these tunnels, but behind it, beside it, a hardening resolve to match your own, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. "He did not take for himself more power than what was needed to protect the community, keeping discipline with an even hand, fulfilling his duties when he was called and for the rest Adam like all of us was living his life, finding out who he was now, I know I still struggle to answer that question sometimes when I light up and start to fly like a Christmas float with only half the lights turned on."

Laughter ripples though the onlookers, a moment's levity turned bittersweet for the empty chair at the 'big table' where the leadership of the Jade Dogs still sits, even though it had been broken in the fighting. That much at least you can fix

Not alone but together

"I cannot promise you that there will be no more monsters, no more fights in the future, but this I swear for the sake of the fallen as much as the future. We will be better prepared, with each day, with each weak with each year. We will prosper together and grow, together, Adam's sacrifice will not be in vain not will it be forgotten."

Gain 1 Willpower -> Now at 8/9

The clapping is nice, the cheers are two, but most of all you like to see the confidence flowing from you to them, even if you don't have a bottomless well yourself it is enough, it has to be.

For his part Porter has stayed away from the gathering, not out of any dislike for Adam, but simply because he is uneasy in the presence of mortality and fears that he would make others likewise. "It... a mystery... ever... hidden.... from my... sight." When you try to offer an appology for bringing foes to his door he waves it off with a shake of his tail that sounds like grinding boulders. "Storms come, stone endures, better to be in the path of the flood than buried so deep you never feel the rain."

"Do you have any ideas how we might keep something like this from happening in the future?" you ask tentatively, not wanting to put him on the spot.

"The Chained One was greater in will an understanding than I and so he could ward me off even in this place, but.... hmm... If I had a means to strike from afar the ward would have availed him not. Greater powers than he have tried to chain me. Only one succeeded and he is no more."

Even though you are itching to know who that might be, that is not what you are talking about here. "What do you have in mind in terms of striking from a distance?"

"This is a train station yes, not just a delving in the stone. I am all that it is and thus can empower than just as the small shadow in does your portable telephone."

You are not sure what it says about you that the words 'rocket turrets and spider mines' are the first things to come to mind, other than being a Starcraft player. At least you did not get inspired by the Zerg...

Although...

Nope, nope, moving on. "I can do that, the physical bits at least, if you can just slide in."

"If they are a nature part of the station," the stone spirit confirms with a nod.

With that you turn in for the day, time to go home and... explain some things. Some of it is going to be easy. Daniel asking how Lydia did, Mathew looking for an excited story, but do you tell your mom and tad about the reason you let Eiko go or how thoroughly you killed her boss?

[] Tell Molly's parents about aiding the conspiracy against Emma-O

[] Explain Murder is Meat and how you used it

[] Do both

[] Write in

OOC: Next up will be the prisoner transfer since that is today so I could not move on to improving the station directly.

I'm not necessarily opposed to telling them, but do they really need to know? Is there any advantage in doing so? And disadvantage in not telling them?

I mean the "advantage" is being honest with people molly cares about, which is healthy.
This isn't a matter of honesty. If we were asked about it, then choosing to tell them the truth or lie would make this about honesty.

Instead, we're deciding on whether or not to volunteer information no one has expressed any interest in knowing about.

I meant it less on the truth and lies kind of honesty and more on the sharing things that are either important or might have some kind of emotional impact if found out at a later date kind.

Honestly? I rather we say it in a controlled manner rather than have it explode in our faces. Keep in mind that Harry knows what happened and so does Emma-O.

The truth WILL come out. So lets get a head start and tell them on our terms.

[x] Do both

Molly's father knows how to keep secrets.
And I think it is important that her mother understands the magnitude of problems and decisions Molly has to deal with.
Showing Lost Station to her already went extremely well, showing that not only can supernatural beings be just people, but that Molly seems to be one of the few if not only one able and interested in helping them.
Showing her further that Molly has to play part and make decisions in ages old grudges between extremely powerful entities and to decide who lives and who dies should put her fu in Molly's corner, and Molly needs people she can trust and with whom she can talk.

[X] Talk to both parents about MiM, but don't mention Eiko's plans to mom.

As much as I trust Charity, she is human and without any particular protection of the WG.
I don't want anyone without major mental defences to know about this, period

Edit: It would also be hypocracy, as we specifically didn't tell Murphy because she as a regular human was too vulnerable.

Charity doesn't have the need to know about the conspiracy.

Mind you, she's living under the protection of angels as part of Michael's general security package. So long as she's not actively participating in the struggle, she's probably one of the safer people Molly could tell.
